I built my own 8 barrelled rail gun turrets and tested it on workshop downloaded battleships, it’s really underwhelming because the guns just do a straight penetration wreaking havoc inside the ship but it doesn’t look impressive from the outside sadly

@LastStandGamers you might want to test the railgun turrets in vanilla, or in a world without Weaponcore/other weapon mods. A lot of the time when I make custom turrets in vanilla and paste them into a world with Weaponcore/other weapon mods, they'll erase the data on the custom turret controllers. those turrets look sick tho
This is the first ship I've seen in a good couple of years that has made me actively say "wow" whilst watching the tour. That CIC is just incredible. Will definitely be taking some inspiration from the styling
I can 100% agree on the fact that looking at other peoples builds is like learning a new language because i play a lot of trailmakers and i usually put all of the logic blocks in one area and i looked at a workshop build a few days ago and everything was just all over the place
1:26 The overall design looks good... but those 'staggered areas' at the front are exactly where you would need smaller guns - to ward off smaller craft attacking from the sides - with the intent of hiding from the main guns, to take out the communications array. In any event, this is almost the ideal concept of a 'pocket battleship'.
Very impressive ship and nice design. However, 6:12 : A parachute hatch for slowing down rapidly? On a spaceship? Where is the drag that slows down the parachute coming from in a place where there is no atmosphere? 🤔🤣 seems funny to me if that is really a thing here 🤣
I'll have to test the durability on those turrets; because every time that I try to make railgun battleship turrets the deformation physics means that even an rocket impact on an armored section winds up destroying crucial components and disabling the whole thing.
I'm surprised more people don't build railgun turrets. They seem like they could be incredibly effective; though they don't need to be quite that large.
Mostly because custom turrets really struggle with accuracy and the turrets have to be really large to look proportional. Each and every miss is 8 large sabots for this ship. And in gravity, those hinges and rotors might just collapse
What type of reactor powering it? How much power in each weapon? How thick is the armor? These are the kind of questions that need to be answered for us to appreciate it as a battleship.
This is why I tend to like weapon core weapons unless you build the ship it's probably broken. and that's honestly the worse for blue prints by someone else, hard to find a ship that's been set up right so when you print it it prints the set up too.
Now that I look at it, something tells me that this thing would make a cool hidden shop to fight on a planet, where it would come out of a underground hatch and just rise up bow first like a rocket all UC 0079 style and start propelling itself spaceward to fight off another faction
Every player tends to place all the weapons on the top of the ship and will have anti fighter weaponry on the keel (bottom of ship), so I have been working on a ship class to exploit this weakness
I've noticed this too. I usually build my ships completely vertically symmetrical. We're in space dammit, a true brawler should be ready to combat a threat from any direction.
i think, i know why the railgun turrets are not working. Weapon core. I used weapon core on my Server, and since the introduction of the custom turret controller block, i removed all weapon core related mods and weapon core itself from my server-mod list. it makes the block unusable. The option in the block, to assign weapons to the turret, will not be visible. Is this issue still present? Have a look. If yes, try to load the ship without weaponcore. Also, there was no weapon at all on the ship that needed weapon core at all, or did i missed some special weapons? Looks like vanilla weapons + custom turrets.
Heavy armour isn't what makes a post-dreadnaught battleship The point HMS Dreadnaught and all big-gun battleships after her was to have so much long range firepower and be so fast that it could stay at long range where it's giant guns can devastate anything smaller
@@d.thieud.1056Traditional battleships have armour. That’s part of what makes it a battleship. Modern cruisers and destroyers are of similar size to the battleships of old, but their combat doctrine is what defines them as different. A ship with a focus on firepower that sacrifices armour for speed has traditionally been described as a battlecruiser, pocket battleship, fast battleship, or “large cruiser”. There are some other terms out there, but battleship has always referred to heavily armed and armoured warships. This ship is accurately described as a “fast battleship”, meaning it should still carry decent protection over its vitals, but that isn’t the focus. Of course, naval classification is all wishy washy and subject to technological doctrinal changes as well as the individual nation using the vessel.
@@suspiciouscheese4518 Also have to look at the Navy and it's doctrine. A US Fast Battleship is built for a different purpose as a Japanese Fast Battleship. One of the many reasons that ship "types" is pretty much useless unless you know the doctrine and missions of that particular Navy in that time period.
@@Plaprad I didn’t even know the US had things they called “fast battleship”, but it would explain why ships like the Alaska are called “large cruiser” instead of any of the more conventional names.
Ibe been having that same problem with other peoples intricate work but the functionality is missing... has taught me how to kind of be able to rig up stuff liek rotating thrusters...
"a fast battleship" Soooo... A Dreadnaught? Post-dreadnaught battleships were extremely fast and mobile, far more so than non-dreadnaughts. Thats why the battleship HMS dreadnaught didnt have to fear anything when she was launched, she could outrun anything that could possibly posena threat to her
While the HMS Dreadnought had a number of innovations including the turbine engines, what characterized a "dreadnought battleship" from pre-dreads was the all-big-gun main armament, which had a host of benefits that improved the effectiveness of it's weapons in addition to raw firepower, including fire direction and shot correction. Fast Battleship was something else, where battleships attempted to achieve high speed without significantly compromising armour or firepower. It was an informal label and fast was relative to whatever was typical at the time(ie the Queen Elizabeth class making 24 knots when 21 was typical).
Technically a fast battleship and dreadnoughts are not the same. Dreadnoughts are often referred to as pre WW1/ made during WW1 designs like example USS Texas is considered “the last dreadnought” being commissioned in 1914 while fast battleships on the other hand were typically made after WW1 and traded armor for speed and were often compared to or in some cases referred as battlecruisers like HMS Hood was considered by the Royal Navy to be a very large battlecruiser while other nations considered hood a fast battleship.
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to insist that you make a follow-up video when you've figured out why the guns don't work. You simply can't show a ship like this without having it blow a bunch of other ships out of the sky. It's just not done, I tell you!
To be clear, I don't mean this as a complaint. The "harsh" tone is meant as a joke, but I think you got that. That said, if you can manage a proper demonstration of this ship's massive firepower, that would be appreciated.
These ships look cool, but i dont like them because they seem to just be a waste of resources to me. i mean why dont you just make 10 smaller ships instead the the big easy slow target that gobbles fuel. All your eggs are in one basket, and the basket doesnt even have wheels.
Probably because just using smaller ships wouldn't have the required "fire-power." Yes, the 10 smaller ships altogether would have a lot of guns to fire, but those guns may be ineffective or useless against certain targets. Certain weapons may require a larger frame or sizable ammo/power requirement, which would necessitate larger ship designs.
You can't just show us a ship with big F*ck off turrets like that, and not show us the havoc they can wreck!

15 large nuclear reactors
Just use the arc reactor mod and select the reactor that is the equivalent of 100 normal reactors.

For the missile bays to be useful the ship has to be stationary.
