I had it at 6.2, Dave is always brutal with the flop. Florida has taken him.
Before the owner showed up he was saying it was better than the pizzas he's been having and he's been giving out low 8's to all of them. The flop killed it though. I think they tried to make it thinner than usual for Dave and it bit them in the bottom. The cook probably got chewed out.

After watching this review I went back and watched your pizza reviews for Sally's, Pepe's, and Modern. They all had a flop as well. I'd say if you didn't fold in the corners of the Modern Apizza and held it up the same as Nick's New Haven style pizza it would flop the same.

Eddie and Sam's New York pizza in Tampa has their water shipped down from New York to make the dough. The owners are from New York. Best pizza in Tampa Bay.

My parents were born in New Haven. I was raised my whole 51 years to hold Sally's and Pepe's as the best in the US. Sometimes we'd go to Ernie's because it was close to home and no line.

Pres if you don't come back to Michigan at some point and so some of these I might cry. Maybe old stomping ground in Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids (which surprisingly has a ton of good pizza places, also beer capitol of the country so you can get your drank on), or Detroit so you can get a couple of Detroit style pies or just normal ones too.

Just watched the Sally's review to confirm... double the amount of slices were cut into the pie. 16 slices instead of 8. That's the science behind the flop.... to much weight to this slice causes the flop. Sally slender slice.... less flop. With that said... it DOESNT AFFECT THE TASTE!! lol

Brother while in Florida if there's one place you need to go it's Oceano Kitchen in Lantana Florida near the beach. The owner sold the pizza recipe and restaurant like 2 years ago for a large sum of money but the pizza is almost the same. I think the guy who sold it made a new restaurant and in the agreement can't use his dough recipe anymore or make pizza. If there's one pizza in south florida that has a chance at a high 8 it's this place. I'm begging you to try it. They also have snobby hours so check before you go. The oldest waterfront bar in Florida is also right next door. - Cheers, Sean

I’m not really familiar with New Haven style pizza, but I’m assuming the blackness of the crust is a result of the way they cook it, and doesn’t really represent the amount of time it was cooked for.
It was cooked right. The problem is they made it too thin with too much sauce and/or cheese on it. Not sure if they tried to make it thinner for him or thats just the way they make it.

I'm in no way defending this guy's pizza, but just letting you know. I went to Sally's Apizza in New Haven, tasted great, but totally floppy. I'll give it another chance in the future.
In Boca, you MUST try Paolo's Pizza in the shopping center on Palmetto Park Rd just east of 95. Made for reheating as a real NY slice should be.

Dave it looks like they are cooking it on a pizza screen which is why it had soo much flop even though it was well done. On the bottom, did the crust look like it had the mark of a pizza screen? Hard in FL to get good pizza. I am down here 9 years now and yet to have a real good pie. Starving.

Fantinis also sells that soda that you were talking about that's up there he also sells it in his shop in Stuart Florida you have to try it. Also like I said you have to try Anthony's coldfire Pizza I can't believe you have not tried it yet unbelievable there's like 50 or 60 locations between South Florida all the way up to Connecticut and New York

Pepe's also uses cheese that is not mozzarella in slices not shredded. That looked like it may be shredded mozzarella. Love the big ups to New Haven Neapolitan style apizza!
