    Yeah malware analysis is the field to go to if you love reverse engineering and working with the low-level aspects of the computer. You really need to know about the system you working with and need to understand Assembly (low level language) and c++ because most programs are built in C++ and even if it isn't when you are working and analyzing a binary there are things like pointers and refences you need to know that other languages don't use, c++ also allows you to interact with the hardware of computers. When you are analyzing malware you need to know Assembly x86 or x64 for windows programs and then ARM for mobile because whenever you analyze or work with the binary at a low level that is the code you will be looking at and need to have a good understanding of it, you don't need to be able to program in assembly but rather be able to read it and understand it. I'm currently studying in this field and its definitely hard and frustrating but rewarding and satisfying when you able to successfully reverse the function or whatever you were trying to reverse. IDA Pro is one of the industry standard software for reversing, its a powerful disassembler and has a ton of other powerful tools and plugins but its very expensive. GHIRDA is open source and has Built-in assembler for patching instructions with a advanced scripting api. A lot of this might seem like gibberish but tools are an important part of software reverse engineering. Gl to all the people going into this field, as long as you have a passion and enjoy reversing you will succeed else dont waste your time going into malware analysis.

    Great video, I had no idea such a career field existed! I just secured my first role as a software engineer, but I love watching malware analysis videos. It's like my weird obsession lol. I'll have to do more research on this career.

    Thanks for this video! I've recently started my cybersec path at a cybersec company in my country and it starts out with a 6-month traineeship and hands-on work in different sectors after that for at least 2 years. Personally I think I'll be going into the SOC first and work as a SOC analyst for a while (if my required certs allow me! 🙈) but I recently learned about vulnerability management and now malware analysis. It's super interesting to me, and though I have a long (looooooooooooong) way to go, these videos help in trying to think out a future path for myself! I'll be watching some of your other videos as well, thank you so much for making them!

    I do some malware analysis at my job with no degree or dev experience. Google goes a longggggg way lol. I make 90k rn with 1 year of experience from working as a security analyst, my title is still security analyst but they are requesting a title change for me. They bought me a book called practical malware analysis, a course, and another book and told me to get to work. Now I'm self teaching C++. I've learned a lot for sure and malware analysis can be very unforgiving.
    Do some labs and CrackMes in your spare time, read books and watch youtube videos. You can bypass those requirements and land a junior threat analyst/malware analyst position if you have something to show and can figure things out. I will say assembly stumps the hell out of me but luckily I havent had to analyze any malware written in it thank god.
    This video rocks, keep it up!

    • @Dulge
      @Dulge Год назад +2

      Huh how are you even analyzing malware if you not working with assembly? Whenever you analyze a binary or disassemble it in IDA Pro you going to be reading the ASM instructions. No person would really write malware in Assembly but rather a high-level language like C or C++ that allows then to interact with the hardware and lower level parts of a computer and since C and C++ are native and compiled.

    Who would've known my nerdy hobby as a teenager reversing game files in a pirated version of IDA pro from ThePirateBay and finding ways to circumvent anti-cheat would net me knowledge in a niche career field I'd love. Life has a weird way of working out. Currently working on my bachelors in Cyber Security and Information Assurance then I intend to try and get a job closely related to if not in the malware analysis field.
