Best hot dogs growing up were at the Hinton, WV Dairy Queen. Individually owned, made their dogs with buttered grilled New England buns, homemade chili and slaw. The view in the dining room is unique, back of building floor to ceiling windows and stilted right to the edge of the New River. It’s like you’re riding on a boat. Cook Out in the SE also makes some really good dogs.

Forget that! It's so easy to make great hot dogs at home with the many great options available. I get mine from a local sausage shop...they have a snappy casing and are made with high quality beef that can't be beat. They're my blank canvas for everything from Chicago dogs to chili dogs with my made from scratch beanless chili, freshly grated cheddar and finely minced onions. One of my favorites is just plain yellow mustard with finely minced onions. We save a lot of money by cooking at home and the food is far better than any restaurant. Try it, you'll see.

@@jaketapper8910 I contend that when you look at price, taste and highly questionable ingredients, fast food is hardly "convenient". Making chili from scratch is hardly an inconvenience, I can make it in quick order and practically in my sleep. It's not hard to plan ahead and pack a few dogs in a thermos either if you're on the go. Even if you want to buy a hot dog, stick to a local spot rather than fast food where it's the cheapest food they can get away with. I'll be halfway through my first and I'll be thinking about buying a second. I'll be half way through my second and be thinking about buying a third. They use that kind of bread that has the little black spheres on it. Perhaps the best bread for a dog (whatever it's called.) Good fries too. Five Guys has good food.... I go every few years (maybe) and remind myself why I don't go there.... I shouldn't have to drop almost $20 for a burger, fry, and drink.... they are good but not worth the prices they want ... case in point, we have a local burger joint open M-F 10:30 to 2:30 and I can get a (much better) burger, awesome fries, and a tea for $11 and this local joint has a line out the door by noon.... our fiveguys never has that... oh and since this video is hot dog, we also have an historic hot dog joint from 1906 that spanks five guys in taste and price

With Five guys, they are the epitome of "buddie burgers"...Order a lot of free toppings, cut the burger in half, share ALL those fries...only about $8 bucks per buddie.

There is a brand of dogs made in New Haven, CT called Hummel’s. I’ve had hot dogs all over the county in 74 years and they are hands down the best. So, New Haven has the best pizza, the first hamburger (Louis Lunch) and the best dogs. Try them sometime, you’ll see

In many places in Pennsylvania there are restaurants that specialize in hot dogs of different varieties called Coney Island Lunch. There are Coney Island Lunch places in Scranton, in Shamokin, in Johnstown, in Erie, and other places. It is not a chain, they are independently owned ... but they are all excellent. The best I ever had!

As a teen back in NJ we used to stop at a hot dog stand on the way back from roller skating. Those were some good hot dogs. Don't know they brand, but the guy put two rows of small slices into the hot dogs and then deep fried them. He served them on a toasted bun. Crispy dogs on a crunchy bun. Decades later I still think about those dogs occasionally. So, so good. Absolutely the best way to cook a hot dog.

Remember in the early sixties, it was a boiled pork meat hot dog (whatever was on sale that week), dressed with mustard and/or ketchup, relish, and onions? On a slice of wonder bread? At local yokal little league games, that was all the bench-warmers got to look forward to after the game was over. Oh..and Five Guys?...a Complete Rip-Off (expensive and harsh taste...NO Hot-dog should cost more than $2.50)

The best Chili dogs I have eaten were made with the hotdogs were taken out of the boiling water then dipped into the Chili then placed on a toasted bun then the chili was put on over the frank then the diced onions and then the Mustard.. and the Fries were the Steak fries.... The Chili was made with chopped Beef like the Chopped Beef that You can get at bbq restaurants in the Chopped Beef Sandwiches.... those were the best Chili dogs I have ever had.... I can still taste them and Smell them... They don't make them like that anymore...Me and my brother could enjoy those Chilidogs for$1.50 fries included and Then $1.00 for a Large Coke.... But the owner of the place died and his Family Chose not to Continue with the Business....
