  • This was the second stop during our P&O Cruise on the ship Britannia which left Southampton on the 25th September 2021. As in the first stop which was at Cadiz in Spain, we wanted to just explore the area local to the cruise port on foot. As before, we had tried to research on RUclips about how easy it was to walk directly from the cruise terminals. Again, there didn't seem to be anything conclusive, so we decided to take the camera and share our experience.
In the early part of the video, yo will see that we made a mistake when walking along the cruise terminals, so hopefully this single point itself will help others intending to walk from the ships. Make sure you exit the cruise terminals at TERMINAL B!!! :)
We walked towards the bottom of La Rambla, which is easy to find as the Columbus Monument stands at the South end. From there we walked up La Rambla, then on to La Sagrada Familia.
After that, we walked down to the Arco de Triunfo de Barcelona, and past the Picasso Museum to the Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter) and back to the South end of La Rambla. As if we hadn't walked far enough, we then went back UP La Rambla to get a drink before walking back across the bridge to the ship.
To be fair, this was a reasonable walk so probably not a good idea if you aren't fit or have difficulties walking, but as long as walking is your thing, it's flat and an easy route. We really enjoyed the day and plenty to see on foot, without the need to go on an organised tour. Worth doing a little research first so that you do head off in the right direction :)

What a nice walk! But, if you want to see the real Barcelona, you have to be some days on site and enyoy the restaurants and the city in live :-) But, thanks for the nice video - the kathedral is really amazing!

Thanks for the positive comment. For that one I used a GoPro 10 and also an Insta360 One X for a few shots.

This is very helpful information! I like to see where the ship docks and how far away things are.

Very helpful video thanks. Our port call is only about 6 hours and my wife is keen to see the big church (Sagrada Familia). So we only have time for a one way walk. Were taxis plentiful around the cruise port or was it all a bit chaotic?

Thanks for the positive comment. The Sagrada Familia is very impressive, so worth seeing. There were plenty of taxis around, both at the cruise port and also around the area near the church.
