I have a feeling that if MVM ever dies, all of these griefers will try to defend themselves saying that they were trying to “save MVM” and most likely make a fake apology
same thing happened to a discord server was in except with politics so i was in a discord server based around a small roblox game and it started dying because the head dev moved onto other projects it was maybe around early to mid 2023 when 1 person started posting about the russo ukraine war. we all thought this was just some friendly small news coverage but then it started to get worse he started posting more about it and this was in memes channel for some damn reason, basically smothered all the memes going into that channel. and then people started to discuss about the war in memes channel and need i remind you there was a specific rule about "no politics"? me and the other memebers tried to stop them but the one who started the war posting said "oh were just keeping the server alive by posting in memes so that people can check memes" and that was the most stupid reason ive ever heard we tried talking to mods about it but it was like talking into a brick wall and its still going on to this day. damn why did i even write this rant
They already genuinely believe this. MVM's Community supported these mindsets for years, and there is no changing them. The only way they get completely stuffed is for the TF-Team to fix temporary soft-bans on successful kicks. Only the advantage of rejoining games after kicks to grief is what they have. Write emails, and make some noise after the holidays; maybe they can fix it for next year.

On imitative recording: I understand your point 100%. But as a viewer, and especially with the modern RUclips landscape as you pointed out, it's not always obvious what's real footage and what's recreation for the sake of video flow. A simple solution would be to have "Recreation" on a corner of the video when using recreation footage. Just for the sake of transparency.
Will very likely be doing this going forward. Originally, I actually had a whole segment in this video dedicated to that argument in particular as it's one I've grappled with several times myself. Having disclaimers was actually my original intention when conceptualizing the footage, but when I started adding them onto the timeline, I realized it was both extremely ugly and immersion-breaking. I tried to turn down the opacity to make it less apparent, but it's less so a visual gripe and more-so a psychological one. The best comparison I can give to illustrate this would be any "actors, not real people" text below your average TV ad. I can't speak for everyone, but at least for me, whenever I end up reading that line, my brain starts moving towards judging the acting chops of the people involved and less-so on the product itself. I realized that me doing this would move focus away from the story I'm trying to tell and instead towards the creation process behind it, and that's why I've ultimately decided against it for the longest time. However, as of this video, everyone now knows how the sausage is made, if I don't point it out myself, y'all will start searching lol. Unless there's an adequate reason to retain the old method, this will probably be the new road I'll be taking.

The edit of the document after this video came out is **golden**. For all of you who don’t want to read it, basically basil timestamps all the moments in this video anything slightly bad is said about him, ignores what he can’t deny, and skips over the parts where basil is being defended. And it’s written in the third person which is hilarious. (If I made a mistake in my summary please do tell me)
@@scooby8800by what I can tell this is because Basil claims to not be the only one writing the document, and if nothing else it is a group effort. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one, but it doesn’t really make things better for him, nor does the rest of his updates. Even taking the rest of his claims in the updated document at face value, the most substantial thing that Weezy would be wrong on would be… Basil not being the guy who got into a flame war with Weezy on Twitter and Discord, and accusing him of said flame war when it was really some other bad actor. Most of the other responses either deal with minor technical gripes or I would argue are misrepresentations of Weezy’s positions, intentional or otherwise. Thankfully, Basil claims to have turned over a new leaf and seems to want to put a lot of this Weezy drama behind him. If it’s out of a legitimate change of heart or a cope to deal with being humiliated on the internet, I can’t say. Either way though, I hope he’s learned something from all this and improves as a person and as a TF2 player, and that his shenanigans are truly over.
And then talks mostly about their mating rituals. Seriously, it feels like 70% I ever see is them talking about mating. I could do a drinking game of how many times they say female and it would be more times than Jacksepticeye saying "top of the morning" in all his videos combined.
@bozotheclown1142 that guy is actually a real dude, he's literally a one-to-one recreation of him. He's the dad of a guy called "Pirate Software" and it's really funny.
I’ve always thought I was terminally online, until *plenty* of others have proven to me that my online hours are absolutely pathetic compared to how many thousands to tens of thousands of hours they can spend online. But Basil? May as well augment himself to become cybernetic and literally upload himself into the internet at this point.
The fact that his reaction is "you impersonated me in those clips" instead of "I never actually did anything I'm being accused of" speaks volumes. It's like he's being accused of murder that took place in the evening, and he responds with "no they died in the morning". Or a documentary is being made about the murder where they use a reconstruction to show you what happened, and instead of saying "I didn't do it", he says "that's not me in those clips". Like, really? That's what you take issue with? Not actually being accused of something you apparently didn't do?
And when it's just a reenactment of what did actually happen, I don't see how it would matter anyways??? It's like watching a Civil War documentary and coming away claiming the Civil War didn't happen because the reenactment footage is of modern people in costumes and not actual 1860s soldiers. They're not impersonators or trying to claim the reenacted clip is real??? They're just playing a part for some footage?? Does this guy go to a community production of Hamlet and yell at the actors for not really being actual Danish royalty??
I'm thinking he might want to start maybe showing a "artists rendition" disclaimer or something on screen to avoid this kinda headache in the future. It's stupid that this is apparently an issue but people are wild and luckily it's not that hard to change.
@@thewolfofthestars1847 It does devalue it somewhat as he's admitted to dramatizing to a degree. Even a SLIGHT degree. I do care somewhat, but only enough to slightly discredit the videos. Yeah I'll be honest. As a low tour, I'd prefer my team to be also just low tours. It means the waves are a bit harder, but it also means we're all on the same page about our skills and can generally have a fun time strategizing on how to beat the Waves.
I have 96 tours and 11/10 times I play 2 cities low tour lobbies are way more fun. High tours tend to optimize the fun out of the game, so the challenge winds up nonexistent and the demoman gets 300k damage and I just afk in spawn. Low tours make mistakes like we all do, and that means trying different strategies on the fly. It's great!
Basil griefed lobbies of unsuspecting players, cause of one potential offender. Weezy slowed down and helped a lobby of new players despite being under a time crunch.
Most games really need a bot that detects it and instantly kicks the player out the match with a 10 minute time-out. Next infraction is 30 minutes and the next becomes 60. Logging in and out won't bypass it.
My favorite part of all this is that Basil was shown in a semi-positive (or neutral) light in the first two videos. Dude really went: "I wasn't put on a pedistal and praised like a god and so I'm mad"
If he actually had just shut his mouth and didn't have this manbaby tantrum AND PROCEEDED TO GO WITH THE LITTLE BABY FIT, practically no one would know about these things he did.

i thought at first Basil would be just another chaotic neutral/lawful evil knight templar with skewered principles, but turns out he's the "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself as a villain" guy in the making.
Oh shit, you really ARE Weezy (I was the engineer mentioned by the griefer in the coal town mission towards the earlier half of the video. I can corroborate that everything he's showing on screen for that misison is true!)
In that case, god bless you for letting the sniper play what he wanted. I don’t really play MVM these days (for normal reasons, not the griefers), but half the fun when I did was from the randos I played with keeping things fresh with their antics. Go ahead, sniper, do what you want; your fun keeps things fun for me too.
This is unironically one of the best drama response videos on RUclips. Takes accountability of your past mistakes that was brought up, gives the accuser every benefit of the doubt despite their insane claims and actually defends them in slight ways to make their character consistent for the facts to make proper sense. It's actually impressive something like this is from MVM griefers refusing to accept they're not the main characters.
I've dealt with one of those vigilante/troll MVM players before. I was under the impression that it was just a freak random occurrence. They were older tacobot members (probably put me on their list from ages ago I don't know), was around 2018-2020. And the whole reason why this even happened, is because a demo on our team was using a normal sticky launcher, which yeah sure people like the Scottish Resistance is more optimal, but this demo was absolutely SLAYING the robots. He was so good he was outmatching everyone. But because he was using normal sticky launcher they basically deadlocked the lobby for at least 2 hours until he left. It was maybe a stupid decision on my part but we decided we were going to stay no matter how long it took. They eventually gave up, poor losers. Probably the most cult like, toxic gaming experience I ever had. Sad to see it's still around, and now with the whole bot/cheating angle too.
This taco thing I can vaguely remember, again, I said before, has pedophilia issues and CP issues (not capture point either) The fact I can barely remember this, and the first thing that comes to mind is “ that community has a history of pedophilia “ is bad. No one should immediately remember your community being around CP and pedos. Hilarious. Glad I don’t ever see them or barley hear of them. Get blocked and move on, or go to servers that ban clowns like this and follow up actual, legal, law enforcement assistance when dealing with people who promote, safeguard and help LITERAL CP and Pedophilia. God, how did we ever get to a weird taco group supporting MVM attacks and griefing and child exploitation.

He needs to try outdoor gardening. He would live up to his name and he'd be touching grass. Granted, it's not a great time to start (it's Christmas at the time of writing) but he can always plan ahead for the next growing season. Basil is easy to grow and it's a great companion for tomatoes.
I mean, who'd have thought? Someone who spends their full playtime on a coop game trying to make sure everyone else on their team doesn't win is also otherwise unhinged and not mentally stable? @@landlockedcroat1554 I think that's a bit naive. Money is nice for security, but it doesn‘t really help with if your character is pulled into question. Money can give you the resources to retreat to your bubble and not engage with the drama, but clearly that isn‘t the case here as he engages with it.
I can understand griefing the cheaters, but griefing innocent players makes you as bad as the cheaters. You basically became what you sought to destroy.
On the topic of recreated footage, I largely agree with Weezy. Plenty of documentaries recreate footage to give the audience an idea of what happened. However, the good documentaries include some sort of disclaimer that the footage is recreated so the audience is not left in the dark about what's genuine, and what's a recreation. Weezy is right that a recreation of Basil flying around is not really material to anything, so it doesn't matter that it's recreated ... but it is inherently slightly misleading to not disclose that until called out on it. I'm certainly not defending Basil here, his behaviour sounds absolutely insane, but it would probably be wise for Weezy to disclose what's recreated in videos going forward so the audience can better decide for themselves what to believe, without wondering what's real, and what's fake. TL;DR, I agree with Weezy's use of reconstructed footage, but I disagree that it's wholly immaterial without a disclaimer that certain shots are reconstructed. We can't read Weezy's mind, we weren't there, we can't easily tell what's real and what's not. Thus, there's room for confusion and misinformation.
I think he should put out a little disclaimer in the future, not so much because it’s underhanded to use recreations, just that he goes after some really unhinged people who pick at any small flaw, real or not, and the disclaimer would help to defuse that argument
12:48 "I barely tried to hide it." Weezy admits he was, in fact, trying to hide that he was using reenacted footage. I'm not siding with either of them, but Weezy was wrong for misleading his viewers. It's clear why Basil lead with that point. Even if he recreated it genuinely, the fact he tried to hide it is wrong, tantamount to lying to his audience.
@@BetterOnichThanSorryYep, that's exactly my point put much more succinctly, thank you. Weezy isn't a documentarian, he probably never studied the ethics of media, so I think we can give him a pass for the past. A valuable lesson for everyone making media of any kind. I hope Weezy learns from his mistakes, and improves in the future.

Yeah same here. I never realized that. Someone already said this but in the future Weezy should put a "recreation" tag in the corner to make it less confusing for people like us. @WeezyTF2 10:55 you can probably avoid this issue by recording demos with p-rec. Install it, type prec_mode_3 into console, and every game you play will be recorded to be played back using TF2's demo system. Extremely useful as shadowplay automatically saves the time and date of each saved clip, and demos are named based on the time they started as well. Saves text chat, voice chat, everything.

personally, the concept of vigilantism intrigues me. in this instance, the video could be a case study on the dark side of vigilantism, when they believe themselves completely in the right and become no better than the criminals they hunt. more fuel for my research, i suppose
@@Underworlder5 Vigilantism is from the belief that the Authority isn't doing anything or enough to deal with certain issues. Very easy to see why people support, if not, glorify such actions against targets that socially people wouldn't like. Obviously, TF2 has a cheating problem because Valve isn't interested to tackle the issue in significant capacities anymore. At the same time, Mann-up is a Pay-to-Enter experience, and very well they can be aware of it all; although they are also benefiting from cheaters buying tickets to consume them. This is actually seen with those predator catcher videos on RUclips, and extreme wacky conspiracy theories that fuel these beliefs where society isn't, "Doing enough," to punish accused/convicted persons. Rightfully so we don't like the ones who prey, yet most of those groups would love nothing more than to deliver street justice, and captivate an audience for it. In this case, the Authority, Valve, refuses to do anything about rampant cheating. Then so, the solution becomes self-appointed, "MVM Community," members to griefing cheaters.
hey weezy, near the bottom of advanced settings. you can turn on demo recordings for ALL your games, meaning you can just use a demo file and record different points of view and footage and stuff and just aim the camera after the fact.
I had my first encounter with a griefer in mvm recently. All of us were low tours except him, but we stuck it out and by god we kicked him at just the right time for a random other player to join. I will never forget the resolve this lobby full of low tours expressed.
I'm really grateful for these videos, because usually they pop up into my feed when I'm having second thoughts about life, questions, or think I'm a loser. And these videos help remind me that I do indeed have my life together and I'm not, in fact, a total loser like these two.
I myself don’t like cheaters, but, oh man those tacobots and any other toxic MVM groups like them look like Cheatphobia or CheatSupportphobia are actual real things LOL.
i got kicked by some of either tacobot or pizzabot members while in a lobby with a guy named lollichop enjoyer and gentleman. its kinda bullshit that happens.
I (think) I know why these anti-cheating groups really hate cheating THAT MUCH. It’s not strange that most TF2 community focus and plays more in the PvP “Standard” gamemode (AKA casual), and the PvE community (AKA MVM) is pretty much smaller than them because the game was born in the PvP playstyle and they released Mann Vs. Machine some years later. So, as part of the playerbase who likes MVM more than Casual, we just accept the fact that most people in TF2 don’t even mind or care about MvM the same level as Casual, and probably even Tacobots or any group dedicated in MvM are fine with this. HOWEVER, when people do these cheats, those anti-cheating people think that they are telling them: “MVM is boring, i just came for the loot.” Straight to their faces. And problem is, they apply that logic to every cheater supporter as well, because they accept cheating in order to get loot faster. Tacobots and any other MVM groups like them represent the people of the community who enjoy playing MVM instead of getting loot, which is funny and kinda ironic, since it’s VERY rare to see them in custom MVM missions (like potato.tf missions), in which even the smaller community around custom MVM are the actual ones to play it for fun more than loot (I guess) and you have the advantage of not finding hackers in bootcamp and custom MVM, because, why would they cheat if they can’t get loot other than experience in which they don’t care?
The thing about body doubles, I agree it is necessary and even beneficial to use them, however it does feel somewhat underhanded when you reveal that purportedly “real” clips are re-enactments. I think it would benefit you to make some sort of disclaimer on re-enacted clips, like they do in TV, nothing major, more just a textbox in a corner saying “re-enactment”. At the very least, this would give you a much stronger defence that “yeah I did it without really bringing it up but that’s just cinema”, especially because documentaries state when their footage is original or contemporary.

What the… I just finished watching the two cheaters in mvm videos and found the sections talking about the schizophrenic behavior of various mvm players both interesting and informative. I thought to myself, “ I wonder if weezy has anymore videos covering this?” Wake up and this is the first thing I see. Thank you weezy and please get out of my walls.
Mk here is the issue, body doubles are not obvious, point blank. And you can not expect your viewers to eventually "catch on" even if you feel it wasn't a hard puzzle to crack. Viewers tend to offer far too much credit to youtubers to be completely transparent, and I think it is fair to be more clear when re-shot footage is used. But that isnt the biggest deal in this case, would just make a point to show when something is a reenactment.
I was one of the people Basil responded to on Twitter, and literally the first thought I had was, “Okay? Who cares?” Compared to so many other content creators on this cesspool of a sight, getting relevant background footage and exposing a goober for who they are isn’t damning. i havent watched the full video yet but when it comes to "dummy footage" i think having some disclaimer on the screen saying its a reenactment and or if you have the clips of them saying things in text chat having a screencap of it show up for a second to at least show its legitimacy. not saying this as a reason to justify their actions at all still pretty scummy. i also just like seeing the raw screencap moments more even if its harder to read
MVM is like the containment board of TF2, let's hope for the sake of all us regular players that it never get's shut down so that the MVM users don't spill out.
I find it funny since I’ve never ran into griefers or cheaters in MVM, or indeed anyone weird on TF2. Either I’ve been extremely lucky or Asian servers are just more normal lmao
Hey that's great. In the future, to avoid this type of controversy happening again, it's probably a good idea to put a little "recreated footage" in one of the corners to clear up any ambiguity. I understand it slightly reduces the quality of the video, but the fact you had to hide it makes you seem suspicious.
As a schizophrenic myself I'll say this with 30 years of dealing with this. This guy is not schizophrenic he has peer issues and wants to be seen in a light he likes. It's honestly more a narcissistic trait then mental health. Schizophrenia if he had it at the level he is attacking you. He would be put in a mental ward or I'd get lawyers involved. Schizophrenia is a spectrum and on the very bad. Is murder insanity and literally going insane. Aka why I feel this is more q narcissistic and attention seeking.
There is more than one condition that can cause paranoid delusions and aggressive reactions to perceived immoral behaviour; you are an expert on your schizophrenia, not everyone else's, and you definitely aren't an expert on any other neurological or behavioural disorders.
This video is an interesting exercise in perspective for me. I am, admittedly, a GTA Online vigilante. If I see an unnecessarily hostile player, one who is clearly bullying a very low ranked player, blowing up their cargo, I will happily kick their fucking teeth in. I remember what it felt like to be that low ranked player and I hated it. This stems from a deep seated hatred of griefers from my very early days in the game, combined with a deep seated hatred of bullies in real life. I started off life in Los Santos as a little baby grinder. No consistent help, and I got griefed a LOT. I remember how insanely frustrating it felt, and how much I wanted to take that asshole down a peg. So I got VERY good at defending myself and now take down assholes on behalf of others. I don't take it outside the game or make long ass lists of "known griefers" but I do maintain I strong stance of "griefing is wrong and you're a shithead if you do it." I've also hell the similarly flippant stance in regards to collateral damage. I typically don't initiate PvP in the game, I much prefer more positive and cooperative interactions. I find PvP rarely has positive interactions in the game. So if I engage in PvP, I believe myself to be on the moral high ground. If there happens to be a member of that organization in the game who isn't griefing, and/or a cheater with a modded account, I won't go out of my way to target them, but I do still assume some guilt by association on their part. If they get caught in the crossfire, oh well. People get killed in GTA all the fucking time; get over it. But seeing this line of thinking taken to it's illogical extreme has me take pause. I believe I'm doing a good thing. I believe that what I do is just and right. But if literally nobody else cares and hates me for it, what's the point? And if I were to continue down this line of thinking, would I end up a psychotic lunatic like Basil? Burning a scorched earth path through Los Santos and ruining the game for everyone? In fairness, I've had plenty of positive encounters in my travels too. I frequently log on just to hop in my Akula or Raiju, and just fly around on patrol. If I see a low ranked player out making a sale, I'll fly air cover to defend them, and the players are always grateful. Perhaps I need to take a more passive, defensive approach, and be less offensive. Ultimately, this whole discussion is more philosophical for me. My heaviest anti-griefer days are mostly behind me. When I see another player get griefed now, I don't much care too engage. The amount of mental energy I'd have to expend really isn't worth it to me now. Plus, Rockstar has (FUCKING FINALLY) taken reasonable steps to make the game much friendlier, at least from a PvP/griefing standpoint. Now when I see a player get griefed in a public lobby, I'm like "why didn't you go to an invite only lobby bro? I don't walk across an active minefield and complain that I got my leg blown off, especially when there's a perfectly safe road right next to it." Basically this whole situation has me going: "Wait? Am I the asshole?"
Even though I have never played GTA Online, from this testimony, I respect you as a player and am glad you at least tried to do the right thing. I hope you never have to see anymore griefers. Stay safe, friend.
Not that I could conclude anything, but I once heard that this type of reflective thinking is good and rarely is done by an actual asshole. Also, good character growth (from what I interpret). Kudos :)

Sounds like a good idea

It's like he's being accused of murder that took place in the evening, and he responds with "no they died in the morning".
Or a documentary is being made about the murder where they use a reconstruction to show you what happened, and instead of saying "I didn't do it", he says "that's not me in those clips".

I think he should put out a little disclaimer in the future, not so much because it’s underhanded to use recreations, just that he goes after some really unhinged people who pick at any small flaw, real or not, and the disclaimer would help to defuse that argument
yeah I'm in agreement on this, a little "recreation" tag over that kind of footage would be really nice
12:48
"I barely tried to hide it."
Weezy admits he was, in fact, trying to hide that he was using reenacted footage.
I'm not siding with either of them, but Weezy was wrong for misleading his viewers. It's clear why Basil lead with that point. Even if he recreated it genuinely, the fact he tried to hide it is wrong, tantamount to lying to his audience.
@@BetterOnichThanSorry you have to remember, the "try to hide it" likely means "making it look like basil" so the youtube even makes sense lol

Weezy isn't a documentarian, he probably never studied the ethics of media, so I think we can give him a pass for the past. However, this is a a material lesson in what can happen when you don't disclose the whole truth while making a documentary, or anything documentary adjacent. A valuable lesson for everyone making media of any kind.

Very useful

Update Released:
-The Bomb Carrier is now immune to airblast.
That wouldn't be so bad, but a blanket fix towards the knockback resistance robots are suppose to have will be better.
And temporary soft-bans...
alternatively - robots have extreme knockback resistance to being pushed forwards, and can only be effectively pushed to the sides and backwards
@@krsvi713 That can be a solution, but you can still to negatively impact the game, and otherwise grief it. Perhaps it will only make it harder, yet it can be done. They're a motivated bunch.
All they just need to do is even bother to fix the sole problem of knockback resistance broken. So much so, they've acknowledge the problem in the past post Jungle-Inferno. It's just that the TF-Team is slow to do stuff & check for other areas of abusive behaviors.
Being able to remove them, and have them stay out? Priceless fix that's needed the most.
But then it makes the point of airblast useless... It would not make sense to do it
@@Ultra289I'd rather take this fix than giving them any way of screwing the game

The way Basel is handling this is... Odd to say the least. Why you would act like that when faced with the perception that you suck-basically proving it right- is beyond me.
not even 3 minutes in and i can say basil is literally the embodiment of "whats blud yapping about?"
For the claim that Basil harrasses low tours, ive been in servers with me and friends (all under 20 tours) while he has 200+, and he immediately leaves. We've never been griefed by him, but its happed two or three times on 2 Cities specificly in which he joins, sees low tours, and leaves. It seems like a similar situation tho.
Regarding the body doubles, you could have at least stamped "DRAMATIC REENACTMENT" somewhere blatantly on screen. That would've been nice.

personally, the concept of vigilantism intrigues me. in this instance, the video could be a case study on the dark side of vigilantism, when they believe themselves completely in the right and become no better than the criminals they hunt. more fuel for my research, i suppose

I myself don’t like cheaters, but, oh man those tacobots and any other toxic MVM groups like them look like Cheatphobia or CheatSupportphobia are actual real things LOL.
Seriously, a psychology would have a field day to study the effects of gamvling
At the very least pizzabot members at least tend to be polite.
i got kicked by some of either tacobot or pizzabot members while in a lobby with a guy named lollichop enjoyer and gentleman. its kinda bullshit that happens.
@AzFresh3 with all due respect, I cannot read all that.

"Will very likely be doing this going forward.
Unless there's an adequate reason to retain the old method, this will probably be the new road I'll be taking."

1:44
I hope he gets the help he clearly needs
I don't take it outside the game or make long ass lists of "known griefers" but I do maintain I strong stance of "griefing is wrong and you're a shithead if you do it."
I've also hell the similarly flippant stance in regards to collateral damage.
I don't walk across an active minefield and complain that I got my leg blown off, especially when there's a perfectly safe road right next to it."
Basically this whole situation has me going: "Wait? Am I the asshole?"
Nah you're fighting the good fight. Fuck people who grief business deliveries
Kudos :)
I shoot down friendly fighter planes that take off with ordinance at the start of an air realistic battles match in war thunder, because they're taking up a slot on my team just to kill some random AI targets and die, while my teammates have to fight at a disadvantage and often get less rewards for trying their best to actually dogfight the enemy planes and help their team than that dude who fired some rockets at a couple armoured cars.
