      @@Raphy_Afk you really don't understand do you? The POPE, along with the Kind of England used religion as a method of control. Stained glass in churches were to teach the literally illiterate as well as an iron barrier to deny entry from break ins.
      Religion in the US is a separation of Church and state for the exact reason to try and stop the same situation of England or the Papal state. Tax or Tithe, it's the same thing. Two sides of a fake currency in the same game.
      Though in the US in particular we fund the Israel state directly. So. That experiment of separation of Church and state failed completely.

      When someone else tells you to just be yourself, they are telling you to be the "yourself" that is "their" interpretation of who you are. It's not about "your" interpretation of yourself or any freedom to be what you want to be. Being a slave to another person's interpretation of who you are is no way to live life, but that is what you become if you live in the box of another person's interpretation of the aspect of how you choose to be yourself. Really the advice should not be to "be yourself", but rather to "be what you want to be".

    • @ninjacats1647
      @ninjacats1647 Месяц назад

      Innatism has been debunked, there is no innate knowledge, all knowledge is derived from sense experience, John Locke discovered this over 300 years ago. If by chance you encounter babies born with a comprehensive knowledge of mathematics, geometry, philosophy, please show me... because it is VERY clear that human beings are born with extremely little if any innate knowledge. They aren't even born knowing that objects are permanent. Object permanence is one of the milestones of human understanding that many psychologists study. Moreover, people are not born with an innate knowledge of how to walk, talk, etc.
      Now, as for genetics, which was before Locke's time, I have no idea how genetics plays a role. But innatism - which was the actual philosophy that the blank slate ideology was meant to criticize - that has been debunked. It pays dividends to actually read the books of the ideas being discoursed about - because you really learn what ideas are actually being criticized and what has very little to do with the arguments at hand.
      Now classical blank slaters can be differentiated from neo-blank slaters in that the classical theories didn't have genetic theories to work with - as the understanding of genetics didn't come for a couple of hundred years after the idea of the blank slate was introduced into philosophy. As for the neo-blank-slaters, I would have to figure out in what way they are fundamentally different than the OG thinkers from the late 1600's.
      Mind you the blank slate influenced some the the ideas of the founders of the United States - The phrase life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness makes more sense from a Lockean perspective (Locke heavily influenced the philosophical thought of the founders) if you assume that happiness is NOT innate, and a person has to learn how to live life in such a way as to be happy, and that the pursuit of happiness requires the development of self knowledge towards that end.
      The main problem I have with the idea of genetics, is that genetics becomes an excuse to justify failure or an easy way to dismiss someone else's success (oh so and so must just have good genes) - rather than focus on the issue at hand as a "skill issue". Even worse genetics arguments are when genetic theories become so abstract that they might as well be "woo woo" in terms of actually relating a cause to the effect. If you can't explain something in terms of direct effect to cause then your arguments are nebulous and therefore not useful. I find genetic theory to be limited in its usefulness. At best your genes might affect certain cancers and some other health conditions, and that might be useful for health management - but it's not particularly useful for self improvement. It's good to know if certain cancers run in the family - but that knowledge has limits to its usefulness. It is primarily limited to being useful for health management.

      @MarioMario-vy4bi Месяц назад

      @@billusher2265 you have to try different things. The key I believe is to start with small things of no consequence, and pay attention if they lead to small improvements. Then over time try things that take more and more effort. And record the results. Being organized and having a plan helps substantially.
      A lot of these gurus talk about journaling which I think is a strange form of just keeping a record of what you do and observe.
      Also it’s important to be humble and respect what you can and can’t do.
      Also you should think about what you like and dislike and why you like and dislike them, so you understand what you want better. It makes it easier to figure out how to get what you want and satisfy yourself to the best of your ability.
      Observe people more successful than you. Don’t take their words too seriously because people lie constantly. Look at what they do and what they are, not what they say they do and what they are. If you are to listen to what people say, ask from multiple different perspectives.

He also had interesting observations, such as: "War protects us from our conflicts." The state of conflict is very difficult -- if you just kill your opponents, you don't have to have the conflict any more. So he said: "Conflict yes, War no." If you want to make a world without war, you need to make more space for conflict. I thought he was a really interesting guy.

    Good points here. I can't talk to my dad about any of this stuff without sort of just letting him "discover" it on his own then letting him bring it up, and then I have to be careful in just making open ended statements or answering his questions with other questions. He's deep into "blue pill" territory and has a bad case of TDS even though he agrees with most of T's policy ideas.
    But, IMO, I don't think the labels are all that terrible. We use labels just to communicate complex ideas quickly and without them, we'd have to give our entire life history every time we greeted a stranger. The problem lies I think with equating labels with something that's all bad or all good, when the label is not meant to carry a value of bad or good at all. It's just a label, a symbol to aid understanding and communication.

    Putting people and things into categories is a perfectly normal thing to do. It's something humans evolved to do. You don't have time to talk in depth with entire every person you meet, but your brain will naturally want to categorize them.
    I think categorization is fine as long as you're open to adjusting it as needed based on new data. The alternative of treating everyone as a completely original snowflake is completely unworkable.

      If it was human nature then everyone would do it, but people who have any worldly experience, like traveling or simply interacting with lots of different people, all know that you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. The categorizing is a pathology, a coping mechanism for people who have lacked human interaction and worldly experience in their lives.
      For children, that is acceptable, but they should be taught not to do that and have enough experience by the time they are adults.
      But being permanently online hampers their ability to gain real world experience, and therefore the dogmatism and pathology has increased severely over the past 30 years.

    A lot of these systems of analyzing others, even the more scientific ones like psychology, are attempts to read other peoples minds. In reality, they end up being forms of mind control for everyone involved. Scandalizing other people so that they act a certain way, categorizing them, and forcing them into boxes so that they’re easier to beat. I used to be very far right wing, until I realized that the absurdity of my political opponents had robbed me of my empathy for my fellow citizens. It’s a lot easier to dismantle somebody’s arguments when they are wholly one version or another ideologue.

And then charge people $150 an hour for their bunk. If you need therapy, just go outside, play some sports, go for a walk, meditate, eat healthy food, get plenty of sleep, maybe go make some new friends or move to a new town or get a new job. You dont need anyone to tell you whats wrong with you. It doesnt matter anyway.

    I think the labels are a shorthand for understanding the baseline of where someone is coming from. I'm willing to engage with anyone willing to discuss reality but most of the time in every camp most people are stuck in their delusion, denying truth. So applying the label is GOOD -- it allows you to see that wasting time discussing anything of substance with such people is pointless and futile. I have many disagreements with people in my camp too and sometimes get to the point of futility there, but at least there's the color-pill of baseline understanding.
    It's what used to be simply a shared sense of reality. People had different perspectives but we all shared a common reality. We DON'T ANYMORE. Now we use the pill terminology to know if a person is in the same REALITY we are. Because there's no point discussing reality with a creature from a completely different one.

That being said, if I've determined that a person is indeed "blue pilled," I usually don't want to deal with that person beyond what is absolutely necessary. The key markers of hot button words are where the lines can be found. Each word is life a fence post in the line.
    With the literal world "online" that is international. Traditional borders mean nothing. So the language one uses has taken on that role far more than it has in the past.
