Patch 14 is out and has rebalanced a lot of weapons and talents. This build is still viable for those who like the Recon Lasgun though it doesn't feel *quite* as nice; it takes a bit longer to kill things so your ammo efficiency will be lower. I would recommend dropping Exploit Weakness, Close Order Drill, and Iron Will to pick up Reciprocity and Onslaught. I've linked the updated build in the video description. Not quite as tanky, not quite as ammo efficient, but still a solid build.
@@Rott3nh3art Yeah it's a bummer, the vet drew the short straw on the overhaul and then got a nerf on top. Hopefully they show it some love soon. I'm glad you found the vid helpful!
Funny tip I'm spreading : with the current bug on rending helping a lot with stagger, this build can push off a bulwark's shield for a long range kill. You have to trust the laser hose a little bit for the first seconds.
The chainsword is great! This build is complemented by your favorite choice of horde-clear melee weapon. Axes are still strong and viable. When the build isn't dependent on a certain weapon, one of my goals with these guides is to showcase the performance of various weapons; otherwise I'd just never unequip my power sword.
@@vgameface my Powersword sits gathering dust I'm afraid. It absolutely needed a nerf but now it does feel quite supbar......but another day, another patch!
@@MercutioUK2006 It benefits greatly from Power Cycler which is pretty hard to find. But with that blessing it's still the best horde clear weapon the Vet has. And it just got a buff this patch!
I tried make something like this and it felt mid. Your build looks great, I'll give it a shot in game! Still haven't found Infernus IV tho and I've been playing since open beta last year lol
the one thing i think coudl be better is the nade you shoudl take krak grenade because even if your lasgun can kill big guys fast it will still fall short on monstrosities and so the krak grenades will help boost your dmg to the max but i also have a build just liek this voice of command krak and dr
I agree and I'd prefer to take Krak nades. But it costs an extra talent point to go that way if I still want to take Survivalist, and that means giving up one of the other high value talents somewhere. Krak is the least important of all of that so I settled for bleed nades.
You hit tab and have the mission details on your left hand side… but how did you get the actual details on the squads damage and kills, etc etc. is that a mod?
@@LYNHWK It's so damn good! And the mod community has really helped polish it up. I'd also recommend using NumericUI to see what various bars actually mean, it's very nice. Enjoy!
Instead of flak, I would instead recommend 25% Unyielding especially for bosses and reapers, or 25% Maniac if you feel Specials are bothering you more. Since Auric Maelstroms usually have modifiers for specials and Monstrous specials, this should help with reducing the amount of shots you need to take plus it synergizes with infernus as these types of enemies are more affected by burn stacks in general.
I do really like how Recon Lasguns handle so I'm a big fan. However there is no way that not using Onslaught is ever a reasonable choice. Well until they nerf it I suppose. Especially with a weapon that fires this quickly.
Exploit Weakness and Onslaught weren't stacking together so you only needed one or the other, and with a high crit build Exploit Weakness gave all the benefits of Onslaught and saved you 3 talent points. Exploit Weakness just got tweaked in a patch tho so you're correct at this point.
Deadshot is good when you stand still and you have no ennemies on you. In higher difficulties, you get easily overwhelmed by multiple ennemies. Having 0 or low stamina will kill you instantly. Push and push attacks requires a lot of staminaa and are essential to deal with a wave of different enemies.
been playing it for a few hours, and yeah it feels terrible. I had yet to get a perfect rolled lasgun and now the desire to continue the grind for it is completely dead. Its outclassed by just about every other ranged weapon the veteran has access to now.
Yeah you're right, they didn't have that in the preliminary notes before the patch. Probably need to drop some of the beef of this build to spec into Onslaught.
Even in patch 13 these blessing selections are extremely useless. Burn barely increases damage and DOT requires TIME to be effective, a commodity you don't have in auric HISTG. Something like dumdum gives far higher and more consistent boost to damage. As for the Axe, decapitator, headtaker, shred, and thunderous are all much much better melee options for not only hordes, but elites as well. Very rarely are you going to get any of the cleave benefit off of brutal momentum, and you'd be better off using the Antax for cleave anyway, not to mention how rarely you're going to be able to build decimator for how slow the axe is, headtaker is much more consistent and doesn't disappear on miss. Best of all, if used well, decapitator will allow you to one headshot kill 2 of almost any of the basic melee enemies with one swing of the Antax.
Oh great, the same build a thousand other youtubers have done before, but only 3 weeks late and just before it's getting massively nerfed. PSA for everyone watching: If you have the gun, enjoy it while it lasts. Don't bother farming the blessings for it

Do you recommend using other recon lasgun variants as mk6d took a huge nerf on long range firepower in patch 14?
Im lvling veteran as my third class and I really enjoy the recon lasguns, haven’t got infernus yet but this build was exactly what I was looking for
I'm glad to hear it! The recon is definitely fun. Infernus is the cherry on top, but not core to the build.
“Heavy fire, LOVE IT!”
heard about this build, thanks for making a useful tutorial on it! been wanting to try it
You bet!

That is a fun tip! They *just* patched this tho lol, rending is just damage again.
Axe, even after the Brutal Momentum nerf? I've found a (predictable) chainsword to out-perform even my favourite Antax :(

I have Power Cycler 4 on it, and Slaughterer 4 to boot but it just feels.....clumsy. Perhaps I'll drag it out again :)
I like the recon lasgun. It's easy to use, but it doesn't have enough ammunition to play on auric maelstrom mode.
Yeah it gets a little tight on ammo now during intense missions. It's doable but a bit uncomfortable.

Yup it's a mod called Scoreboard. You can get it on the Nexus if you want! There's a number of QOL mods that really improve the UI.

Why not using deadshoot to build more crit ?

What Izennn said! Until they make Deadshot use flat stamina instead of %, you cant build around it and it leaves you way too exposed.
@@vgameface I think they changed after the patch, but even with that the recon lasgun build has been nerfed
Need scoreboard mod so we know how the build did at the end..

nope. weapon remains unchanged
