    I like your videos and following all the fun stuff you are doing. I hope you are staying safe and sound and finding time to just chill out too. I am a Dahon Mu D 10 (20') wheel owner - 5 years - and like it a lot. I ride it maybe 1/2 as much as you overall and besides some odd tlc needed here and there, now and then, I must say it is a strong bike and good 53 tooth front gear is great! I did take a Brompton for a test ride recently and can't imagine using that instead of the Dahon as it seemed way too small and delicate. I have had what seems several times fewer maintenance issues as you are having but of course that is all subjective. Love your videos and WOW you are über talented! Most importantly...STAY SAFE and healthy! - Greg, Boston area

    My Brompton reliability:
    2014 S2E - used to eat non-folding pedals because of the torque from riding what was basically a single speed, plus a headset as they were still steel on 2014 bikes.
    2017 S6L/R - in 4 years of 8 miles per day; it had a main frame hinge pin, a rear hub (although that was my fault I think), bent seat post (was my fault as running an ultra hard Joseph Kousac suspension block), and a folding pedal. Usual chain/pads/etc annually
    2021 S6E-X Chpt3 - nothing yet, but it only comes out on Sundays, Holidays, Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, etc
    2022 M6L-Electric - two motors, one controller (it really is unreliable), but nothing mechanical in 500 miles

    As a Dane I bought a new Top "SuperlightM6LXBrompton" in 2019. At first "free" Service I had the shop change my crank to a titanium, ceramic crank, as I have also found a set of ceramic balls for my stem post/fork bearings, as also titanium bolts and a wedge to fix it. Also a full titanium axle in front. For now 9,35 kilo, with mudguards, but I expect to come below 9 kilo soon, with a little further changes of parts. And I like my 6 gears, compared to the only 4 of the absurdly prized T-line. Finn. Denmark

    • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
      @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 Год назад

      And I have a "chain catcher" on top in front! As I have a choice of a black titanium seat post, with an integrated ring-mount on top, also wasting the Original, or lighter mounts for the saddle! As also, some ordinary Brompton shaped, titanium, black seat posts in several length versions, as I'm a tall guy! The 600 mm longer (and a standard in Scandinavia, as we are generally tall people), doesn't fit my German B&W box for travels, so for now I just have a standard length, and too short, 535 mm, black titanium post on mine, for this purpose.

    Regarding the plastic cupped Brompton bottom brackets, you will find ruclips.net/video/h0cKKdm0smI/видео.html interesting as she ( a major UK Brompton dealer ) swaps it out for a metal cupped shimano BB-UN300. Even those are not as good quality as the old BB-UN55 which are not made anymore but lasted ages. Today I would consider using an aluminum cupped Neco 119 x 68mm sealed cartridge BB.
    For removal you can use the crank bolt and a washer(s) to stop the tool slipping by keeping it pressed onto the BB cups.

      It may just be grease on the post. If that's the case it won't be noticeable. Often it's finger grease just from handling the post. The cure is to clean the post with alcohol or a similar de-greaser, then re-install, being very careful to avoid touching the post with bare fingers. Hopefully that solves the issue.

Based on your videos, these bikes are not very durable at all...at least not nearly as durable as full sized bikes. After watching your video about the touring, I really thought about getting one to just try in my community...but after watching more of your videos...NOPE...not interested as they seem to be kind low end bikes.
