Arctis 7 for PC (2019) and Astro A50 for PS5 (newest version), both are stinkin’ cozy and sound premium.

The new SteelSeries Sonar integration with the GG software makes the SteelSeries headsets the default BEST headsets on the market right now. They have separate mixes for chat, mic and gaming (Similar to GOXLR). You can mix the game EQ for footsteps or set game specific profiles like Warzone for higher treble and Fortnite and lower treble and higher bass etc. ALL without messing with your music or chrome audio which is a game changer!!!. BIG BONUS!! My buddy plays on his ps4 so I hear his PS4 taking off like a jet but with the chat mix, I turned on the simple noise gate and noise reduction and now he sounds so clear! Big ups for SS for this update!

Was super comfy on the head as they used a similar strap system to the Arctis but the cushions werent very deep. Loved that thing though. I guess the Arctis could be the successor idk.

After a very long search for my first wireless headset that's within my budget, and snooping around your channel for headsets reviews haha, I finally bought my Arctis 7+ about 2 weeks ago. The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro is my other choice. But with uncertainty of its wire clamp getting loose, the much better built of the 7+ was the final kicker for me. Together with the Wicked Cushions that I also bought, I absolutely love my Arctis 7+! It's so stinkin cozy, and the sound is great. And it works perfectly well with my Android phone, as well. Plus, the Steelseries GG app also brings in great options with the EQ with its presets since I play many different games, from League to Apex. And the Moments app is good for making clips of your games. All in all, absolutely no regrets in my decision to buy this. This is a great option for those looking for a wireless gaming headset in this price point.

I have Arctis 7 and i will take you all the good and the bad
the good is, they are fucking solid, every aspect is 4/5. Comfy, great sound, everything is great but nothing is perfect thats why it is 4/5, now take that as good or bad i take it as good-
with 7+ you will get usb c plus longer battery life which is a plus and the biggest one of them all is the software. probably one of the best EQ settings out there and it's night and day difference customizing it for your needs, also those two wheels behind are super handy you will be using them 24/7, 10x better having physical scrolls than doing tru software.
the bad is mic is not the best, headset will start to squick (plastic sound) after a month, two or three, very annoying, but one aspect you will have get used to, if you game for more than 4-8h a day your ears will hurt until you stop for an hour and then resume the use, you will obviously have to change the ear cushions every 6-12months, because they will get dirty on the inside and start to smell, at least thats my recommendation. try to keep them clean. and that is all
i think pros heavily out weight the cons, so you decide. I can gurantee you will hardly find all the steelseries is offering with acrtis 7+ against other brands

    • @guiltygamerxrd
      @guiltygamerxrd 2 года назад +12

@@nxk5116 Wow, I wasn't expecting such a detailed response from anyone, so thank you!
I actually did end up buying the Arctis 7+ the next day. The USB C is really what made my decision as I just really do not want to buy anything still on micro usb if I can avoid it at this point.
Everything you stated is true. Sound is great, they do creek a little but no cord noise like my wired set so overall better. The main downside for me is that my ears are not only big but stick out, so I right away noticed they touched the drivers quite a bit.
I thought about returning them but seeing a number of people saying to just replace the cushions I went ahead and got a set of wicked cushions (even people on the steelseries discord recommend the brand). I literally just put them on now and thankfully my ears no longer touch. Glad I stuck with them!

One huge minus with Arctis 7 is the headband. I don't know if other people have this issue, but the band keeps stretching and the sticker is so small that I have to wrap the band couple of times around the earpiece before the stickers match. The band is probably 15cm longer now than when I bought it 2-3 years ago.
Another thing is the retractable microphone. It can be a bit difficult to put it back in and once there is even a small crack in it, it becomes even more difficult and the plastic cover starts to peel off. However, it is still working and seems to be able to handle the extra force. The metal part, that is exposed, is very thick.
I think that the battery duration is about the same as I bought it, but for some reason the power button keeps flashing red light even after the headset has been left charging over night. It should show green, then yellow, then red. There was a one instance where the battery wasn't charged at all during the night. Luckily my colleague had the correct kind of cable so I didn't have to leave work to get the cable. After that I have been carrying the charging cable around every time I go to office.
I like the 7.1 Surround, but it won't turn on until I open the GG app. The app is opening in the background when I open my computer and the 7.1 Surround should be part of the default settings, but still I have to double click the icon before it turns the 7.1 Surround on.
I also dislike the receiver. The long cable is just annoying...
That being said, I have been very pleased with my headset. I can keep them on almost all day. They are so comfortable! I'm no expert with the sounds, but I have no complaints about the quality.
Sorry about my English, it is a second language. :D

I just bought the Arctis 7+ and I have the Blacksharck V2 pro and Corsair HS80. I bought the replacement earpads for the 7+ and the Miko Diko replacement pads for the Blackshark V2 pros. Both of the V2 and 7+ headsets are super freaking comfy with the replacement earpads. Both offer great sound quality. I do say the V2 pro have a better mic and slightly better mids. The 7+ have better positional audio even in stereo mode. Both sound great with music, shows and movies. V2 pros off more and better sounding bass. 7+ are better for mids and highs imo. Both headsets are tremendous especially with the replacement earpads.
I have 2 complaints with the V2 pros.
    1. Positional audio is not great. I don't mean surround sound. I mean in stereo and being able to tell where a shot or foot step is. The Corsair HS80 are absolutely terrific at this. Whereas, the 7+ and V2 pros are meh.
    2. The friction based earcup design that holds them in place sucks. I had mine for 3 months before they started slipping. Not a good design for the long haul. You "could" use fine grip sand paper and roughen up the metal bars to create more friction so they move less but that is a design flaw the company needs to be responsible for and not the consumer.
I have one complaint about the 7+.
    1. the mids sound a little flat. The bass is ok and highs are fantastic but the mids. Man the mids sound "cheap" or low quality if that makes sense.
Both the V2 pros and HS80 EXCELL at audio reproduction imo. Listening to the HS80's is amazing but that mic issue >_<
The Corsair HS80 microphone issue plagues like 80% of their headsets and it's sad. It's an amazingly designed and comfy headset only to be defeated by its own microphone. The problem is you have a high chance at buying a HS80 headset that has a microphone that is set to like -10 dB and is extremely quiet. Corsair has had over a year to fix it and a forume post, creat by me, that is over 17 pages long. They are destroying their own brand by not fixing this. They have an amazing headset but the microphone is garbage at that volume level. Their mic sounds terrific, when it works. My only complaint but it's a huge one.
Btw my first real audio setup was Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250ohm headphones with a ModMic 5 attached. I am no audiophile otherwise I would not trade off audio quality for wireless. So let that be your judgement of this post I suppose.
Btw, also, I only play on PC so I have no opinions towards console.

So comparing the v2 pro and the 7+ which one do you reccomend more?

    • @Drewsterman777
      @Drewsterman777 2 года назад +1

@@mH-rw6kp Hmmmmm That is a toss up. So straight out of the box I prefer the 7+ because of comfort, ok sound and ok mic. The problem with the V2 Pro's is my ears lay RIGHT against the drivers and it hurts regardless of the foam padding between my ear and the driver wall. Still hurts my ears. The 7+ don't do this.
Now if we are talking about slapping aftermarket earpads on them then the V2 Pro wireless wins hands down. Better sounding audio for everything and a better mic. Similar battery life and similar range as far as my personal use saw.
      Hopefully that helps.

My experience shopping around in the last 3 months. Penrose (too much floor noise, impossible to adjust volume through Windows only through headset, Bluetooth too gimmick); SteelSeries Pro Wirless (too much clamping force, uncomfortable after long sessions even using after market leather padded cushions; presence of floor noise unacceptable for £300 headphones. To reduce floor noise you can activate an option that limits the volume, but that limits also the dynamic range); A50 (was not happy with the sound signature. Very good for gaming, but I also use them occasionally for music, heavy metal mainly, and oh boy they suffer significantly in the bass area to reproduce sounds like fast pace drums, it all becomes muddied). I returned these expensive 3 pairs. And settled for the much cheaper SteelSeries 7+. It has the same sound signature and quality of the Pro Wireless in my opinion. Very long batter, 30 hours (no need for swappable battery as for the Pro). Fast charging through USB C. Power button controls media (I love this so much), you click once and pauses the song, you click twice and skip forward to the next song, press 3 times and you get to the previous song. And of all the 4 headset, hands down are the most comfortable for my head / ears. So happy! And saved myself a good amount of money. Hope this helps :)

I bet these will have the same issues as the rest of the modern Arctis where the plastic earcups attach to the headband (the metal ball socket) it cracks and SteelSeries refuses to sale parts for all of their headphones or even offer a repair service for out of warranty devices. Its sad that they dont support their products and they are on my no buy list till that changes, and that sucks because I do love my Arctis pro wireless

Anyone considering it beware the Wireless signal gets a lot of interference & sometimes audio completely cuts out & you have to turn the headset off & on again.
I’ve had two now & same problem on both, plus the Steelseries return on the first ones was really bad. You pay the return & the return address is Belgium & very slow.
Other than that though they are very good. Being able to save presets to headset when on PS5 & battery life on them is crazy good.

My first gaming PC headset was an Arctis 7. I loved the headset but the plastic started to crack around where it connects to the head band. I then bought the Corsair Virtuoso RGB SE. The corsair is maybe the worst headset I have experienced while gaming or listening to music due to the headset randomly adjusting the volume really loud and becoming distorted. I very much dislike the iCue software. I use headsets on my PC to both listen to music and game. What do you think is the best option to satisfy both gaming and music listening wirelessly on PC?

I got a refurbished Arctis 7 for 70 pounds on ebay and I love it. I think they are worth the full price, if you don't already have a pair of quality headphones, like Sony WH-1000XM3/4, which I do. Though, if PS5 supported bluetooth headphones, I wouldn't bother. The main difference between plugging Sony's into a dualsense controller and Arctis 7 is comfort and lower (inaudible) noise floor. Sony's are very comfortable, have active and better passive noise cancelling, but my ears get hot and sweaty after a while. The DAC in dualsense is not very good, so you can hear some hissing noise for a second or so after all sounds stop playing. The effect is more pronounced the more sensesitve your headphones are. If you have high impedance headphones, you won't notice it.
