If anyone is going through derealization and depersonalization just know that it'll go away on its own its not permanet i promise. Ive been through it after i had a panic attack from smoking weed and it was scary. I thought everything was fake and i felt disconnected with myself the next morning and had scary thoughts about a lot of things thinking i had schizophrenia. Funny thing is dp/dr isnt a disorder i found out that its just a form of anxiety pretty much a defense mechanism like when you get in a car accident and your mind clicks to defense mode. Just keep your mind busy dont think of the symptoms just accept them and let them go, dont search things up about it anymore just live your life as if you didnt have it. (: it'll go away i promise

Thats exactly what happened to me a month ago and now I have these days of depersonilzation that make me panic and it's just a cycle. All from a terrible awful panic high that left me numb and unreal for a few days with intense anxiety from it. So comforting to know we arent alone.

I went through DP/DR for about 4 months after having a severe panic attack while smoking weed. I promise no matter what the "cause" of the onset of it it is temporary. Best advice is to find things to occupy your mind (meditation and journaling for me), exercise, eat well, be nice to yourself and lastly and most importantly stop analyzing how good/bad it is today, go ahead with your life as best/normally as you can and I promise one day you will wake up and be like, wow I cant even imagine having it.
There are many of us who have been through it, so dont feel alone, we are here as a collective for you all every minute of every day :)

not constant for 2 years! probably only 3 months at very severe overall and then i've had a lot of spaced out feelings in between. but, I've started to properly tackle my anxiety now and i feel better than i have done for 2 years, if that makes sense. you won't feel at the suicidal stage for long i promise! i had it at pretty much the most severe it can be for over a month when it first began. its the worst thing that will ever happen to you at first, but once you understand it, it gets a lot easier. good luck!

Just remember that it is anxiety and will pass. Relax and watch something that will take your mind off it. Accept it as a temporary issue that will pass. Fighting it and worrying about it will aggravate it. I have DPDR right now too. I know how scary it is and how scary the thought of having it long term is. But just remember how powerful the mind is, list your anxieties on a piece of paper, go about your life normally, exercise, eat well, and I promise that it will pass soon. I wish you the best in your recovery.

I have this, and something to note is that I don't obsess over reality. I know it's real. I got derealization from playing a game and getting too into it, I've had it for about three months now. I know everything is okay, everything is fine, and I would love to feel alive again, but my brain doesn't seem to think so. Day by day my derealization gets worse. I hope one day I won't still be feeling this way.

Just relax and watch something that will take your mind off it. Derealization/Depersonalization are nothing more than a form of anxiety. They will both pass. Just try to relax and go about your life normally. It will pass. I have it too. I know just how scary it is and the thought of it being longterm is scary too. Just talk to someone about your anxieties. It helped me take my mind off of some of mine. Just go about your life normally and remember that it will pass soon.

I've had derealization anxiety since March 1997 when I was 10 turning 11 the next month. I've always been an in my head thinker and the thought (feeling like I was dreaming, didn't know it was an actual thing other ppl had and it had a name until 2010) came into my mind out of the blue as I was walking home from my friends house one morning. I know it's been too long to go back to the way my mind ever was before then. I pray every night for a miracle that I'll wake up the next day and just block out the past almost 24 years as far as derealization...

Don't ignore your change if your horrible experince has happened because of smoking weed. It's your third eye that has been opened in such a traumatic way that you freaked out. Now that the third eye is open you have three choices. You can feed your soul positively. You can feed your soul negatively or you can ignore it. From a spiritual point you should feed it positively as the opening to your self is very precious and you should take it as a gift from your higher power. Meditate! Listening to affirmations are a good start. If you ignore it you could end up as an alcoholic as many others who found the easy way to suppress it with alcohol.. That would be the a wrong choice. This experince happend because your are special. Much love!

Perfect, thank you 💕 I’ve been going through this crap for a few months now. I’ve always been a stressed anxious person but certain events lead me to this awful feeling a few months ago. *never self medicate* this had been brought on by a stressful day plus smoking weed and I’ve got to say I’ll never do it again. Sober living over here. That day I was shaking and throwing up couldn’t eat...for about a week or 2 I felt awful but then slowly got better not 100% but better. Then I thought everything was okay again and bam it happens again except this time a billion times worse, that time lasted almost 2 weeks but I thought I was seriously going to lose it. Got better again and then a few nights ago had a panic attack and I’m mostly now just dealing with depersonalization. I can’t even stand to look at myself when I look at pics of me or family or even my boyfriend everything seems so unfamiliar. I wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone ever.

To anyone struggling with DP/DR , please know that
    1-you're not alone !
2- this shit is an anxiety based symptome (lower anxiety = lower DP/DR)
    3- YOU'RE NOT GOING CRAZY
    4- IT WILL GET BETTER
Will it disappear? Well , here's my story : I've been having very bad anxiety for 7 months, after a burn out . I started having severe panic attacks and DR . after 2 months of this nightmare I decided do get a CBT ( COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY) And OH MY GOD that helped me SOOOO MUCH ! I never took any medication. Just the therapy . after only 4 sessions , I was completely able to control my panic attacks. Few sessions later I was able to deal with DR . Now everytime I feel DR I just focus on my breathing exercises and it quickly goes away .
Know I'm dealing with depersonalization which is for me a bit harder. I must confess it's still horrifying me from time to time , but it has a lot to do with:
    1 existential questions
2 self checking myself ( everytime I do this it brings back the DP )
BUT ! It's not permanent, it lasts less and less everytime and it is clearly getting better each and every day. I feel HOPE again . I will feel NORMAL again . I believe it ! ( and this is a huge step for me )
This video is the first one to really make me feel comfortable with my DP.
I think the next step for me is meditation/ mindfulness. I will let you guys know how it goes ! Please share your recovery stories too . It's incredibly helpful for those who are
    still struggling with this crap.

This really helped me when I was slipping from myself up until it said I can recover or whatever it was then my mind just switched off and got defensive. Typical personality disorder with severe self esteem issues but also have problems with psychosis and dissociation. But hearing the words "I am safe" from this video helps calm me when I become dissociative and start panicking so thank you

Thank you for this video! It gives me hope. Been going through this DP/DR for over a year now, but this video seems to be helping already. Literally broke down crying the first time cause it made me realize just how bad my self confidence issues were, how much I have put myself down, but it really was therapeutic. Needed a good cry and that realization

hello this might get lost in the comments but i just wanna share something about me. i am a 20 year old college student and i am studying fashion design. i am not clinically diagnosed with anxiety but with the symptoms (gagging ever second) and the constant thoughts and what i feel, my counselor told me it is possible i do have anxiety because of a certain pattern that happens to me during college. there are times that do get better once i overcome the fear of failure and not doing well in school, but when it happens, it hits me so hard. now i am that point of my life again where its the peak of my anxiety, im burnt out, and i never had so much sh thoughts as much as this time. i am fully self aware that this will pass but my brain is my own enemy and im very weak when it comes to that. thank you for this video, ive been playing it on loop while im doing my project and i feel hopeful again. i hope i get better, my days will get better, and i hope i would fully overcome this because its exhausting.

Thank you. I think this will be a great addition to my body scan meditation before bed. I've had derealization so bad that I wasn't fully convinced people I've known for over a year were even real... they felt fake, like someone, or maybe my mind, was just trying to trick me into believing they were real? Have you experienced anything like that?

    • @maliayoga2879

I had a terrible anxiety attack because of it, i felt like i wasnt living in my body but someone else’s. Talking about it triggers it alot, i don’t wish this on anyone. I seriously hope this doesn’t last forever, i want to grow up and live my life. I’m 15 now but I’m hoping that I’ll recover from this feeling. I’ve found it that animals are pretty helpful during the anxiety/panic attack. So if u have a dog please go to it if you start to dpdr

I’m getting better and better but overtime it will get better and better because the longer time goes on you just accept it and it starts to go away on its own i am realizing that now but I’m still somewhat going through it not as bad as a month ago now it is getting better been feeling a certain way since January and now it’s March and I’m feeling better and better as the days go on so time does really help that’s the best way to get over it and what better ways is working out playing video games and other things to help the process you are not alone and I get it cause with it I had many panic attacks and many breathing issues with it which made it worse your not alone go get mental help to really help the process as well because I know personally it’s more than that

My DPDR is with PTSD and OCD and it’s gotten so bad it’s dangerous because I don’t even see myself as a person anymore so I don’t care if I die or not. I found out my liver isn’t healthy and my normal amount of self love and care is suddenly almost callously gone. And then I think about my astrology chart and how I have an aspect in there that can cause people to become sociopaths, schizophrenics, mentally ill, and lonely, and that’s all I obsess over day and night that makes me feel hopeless that I will always be mentally ill so why bother trying anymore. I should never have studied astrology, I really regret doing that in a bad state of mind, I feel like I fucked up my life permanently and now I know too much. I don’t feel like me anymore snd my heart itself is disappearing. I no longer feel beautiful, feminine and happy like I used to, I feel like a shell. It’s that bad. Please god make this go away otherwise I might die from this. It’s exhausting living this way. I’ve been suffering mental illness my whole life and it’s truly the worst thing that can happen to anyone. My family emotionally abandoned me and I have almost no friends left now because of mental illness. And the mental illness just gets worse and worse even though I’m only in my 20s. I literally don’t know who I am without mental illness, it’s swallowed up my whole personality. I feel like nothing

This is great! Thank you for making this!!
I have a suggestion though (an important one)! It would be way better/more helpful to not include sentences like "I am not losing my mind", because that'e exactly what the person will focus on and feel, the subconscious will take it as "I am losing my mind". Others like "I give myself permission to relax" are amazzing...

Thank you, really. This is so helpful when i feel disconnected from myself, it's like it makes everything feel a bit more real again :) I've had DP/DR for 2-3 years and had gotten used to it (although I was unaware that it was depersonalisation I was experiencing for the first 2 years), but recently it has gotten worse, everything and everyone feeling fake, and my body - even my mind feeling unreal at times. But yeah, as I said this luckily calmed my mind down.

Guys I think I have derealization!!! Can anyone help me? This is what I feel, the times I felt like this were only at night, I feel like I’m not real like I feel like I’m not there like how it feels to be in a dream and like it feels terrible , like it doesn’t hurt but it feels bad??

  • @neptuneskiess
    @neptuneskiess Год назад

I dealt with Derealization for 2 years and it went away but now I think I’m experiencing Depersonalization/Dissociation. I don’t feel nostalgia anymore (sometimes but that’s on good days) because I feel disconnected from my past self since my DR took up so much of my personality for so long - almost like idk who I am without it, I don’t feel passionate about things anymore, sometimes I feel disconnected from my family, I don’t recognize myself, and I don’t have anymore background thoughts. Is this normal to have after recovering from DR or is this some other type of dissociative disorder due to trauma? I’m only 16 and I want myself back so much because I was so smart and happy. I don’t feel that scared anymore but I do feel super sad. I just want to know if this is normal or not. I’d appreciate if anyone was able to answer and I’ll update if I feel better eventually :]
