  • Africa's INSANE Plan To Connect The Entire Continent By High Speed Rail
    Afrail Express, a high-speed railway endeavor is set to transform transportation throughout the African continent. For years, Africa's vastness has served as both a blessing and a curse. While it boasts abundant resources and a mosaic of cultures, its disjointed infrastructure has impeded economic development and regional cohesion. Presently, the majority of rail transportation in Africa relies on colonial-era tracks, offering sluggish speeds and limited connectivity. This is precisely where the Afrail Express steps in, promising a significant leap forward. Join us today as we explore the new megaproject that will reshape the African continent.

    Who woulda thunk the Africans would get a high-speed railway before the Americans.

    Doubters will weigh in on this idea. Who thought that China would build the largest high speed rail net 40 or 50 years ago. Why not Africa. Africa may have HSR before the United States.

    Nothing about this is serious. It's just an idea of someone on their website. The route map on there is just a screenshot of the Google maps route planner for cars. Even though this could be possible in theory, no political intentions have been made about this. Almost all projects are on a national level. If the cooperation of the African Union increases in the next decades, this might become relevant again though.

    Maglev in Africa? Where are they going to find that much electricity available at 100% reliability? Also, given the rural populations of people and mega fauna shouldn’t such a system be 100% elevated above grade?

    • @mandandi
      @mandandi 2 месяца назад +2

      From hydro power. There are many dams already which are not used to their full potential. There is potential for building more dams across various rivers. Many solar power plants are also in the planning or implementation stages. Some countries in southern African don't experience regular power shortages already.
      Rural populations are not a major concern. There are not hundreds of such deaths from current railway lines which already pass though rural areas. The only issue here would be wild animals, and how to cater for them to reduce accidents, especially big animals like elephants and buffalo.

    • @mandandi
      @mandandi 2 месяца назад +1

      @@DeanStephen Of course. Yet, the railway line and services have not been dismantled due to the increased accidents, have they? Solutions are found and implemented where possible. The same will apply to this railway line across Africa. Some of the newer bridges connecting some countries already have a provision for a railway line to be constructed in the future. Airports have been built in places with lots of wild animals, though they are fenced. The point is that, wild animals do not stop some developments.

    maglev and HSR are two different technology, plus maglev is too expensive even for developed countries, it's absurd for any african country to take the burden of the cost, it's impossible to have over 8000 km of maglev with only 80 bln dollars budget
