Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (originally known as 悪魔城伝説 or Akumajō Densetsu, meaning "Legend of the Demon Castle") is the story of Trevor Belmont's battle against Dracula from the times before Simon's battle in Castlevania. In this complex and difficult game, there are three playable allies whom Trevor can recruit: Alucard (Dracula's son), Grant DaNasty (a pirate captain), and Sypha Belnades (a mystic warlord).
This game has a technically high-quality soundtrack because it uses a VRC6 sound chip that works in the Japanese Famicom but not in the NES. Thus, the movie was made with the Japanese version of the game instead of the USA version.
This movie takes the path that recruits Alucard. It is about 39 seconds faster than the previous movie, played by Genisto. There's also a Grant path movie and a Sypha path movie. - Игры
Alucard: What I'm going to do is take a good long slumber. Farewell! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Trevor: That's a bit over-dramatic for a beauty sleep, don't you think?
321 years later (Symphony of the Night)
Alucard: That was some beauty sleep.
hahahahha
Damn, it's a shame our western NES consoles didn't support the VRC6 chip. The game sounds awesome. Great TAS overall.
Ok, after having just read about the Japanese version having a different score due to a different sound chip in the cart, I had to look it up, and I am suitably impressed, nice.
Great run. Alucard is by far the hardest helper to complete the game with due to the weakness of his weapon and lack of speed. You MUST know when and where to use his bat transformation to have *any* chance.
Didn't know you could use the transformation to kill enemies. Learn something new all the time with TASes.
And this version was chosen by the uploader since the sounds are better and also because it's uncensored. Our version is called "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse" and it is not only censored, but the U.S. NES' soundchip limitations did not have room for expansion to accommodate the Konami VRC6 soundchip the Japanese version uses.
I love that Alucard's only subweapon is the stopwatch.
Sure, JJBA wouldn't have DIO yet (and Metroidvania entries would have fun refering to that) So it isn't a reference, but I'm pretty sure someone on Konami smiling when they noticed that they have made Alucard have time stop abilities.
I noticed that shit instantly too. This game sound so much better. You can hear all the nuances of the song better, and I swear there are more waves total or something cus DAMN is that vampire killer remix awesome.
VRC VI is GOD
After the first stage, you can decide whether or not to go up the tower to get Grant. From there, you can take one of two paths, one leading to Sypha and the other leading to Alucard. Take either, and Grant, if you have him, leaves. Those are your choices. So while you can finish the game with any (or none), it's much less flexible than the prerelease hype made it sound.
I do not know too much but the music of the level in 8:00 looks like the music in paper mario N64 when you find the mayor dead auk...
Why is the encoding of the video so glitchy?
is it possible to get all three ppl?
it a very small difference in the sound
Alucard is fucking tall
alucard has ALWAYS been taller than the belmonts
is very hard, This game is not for crying babies
+super mario Some would argue against the controls, like the jumping, but that's what I find appealing.
Ked Viper yes, you right
*state loaded* cheap game (okno)
sounds like Harmony of Dissonance :D
@Jeremy Bouwhuis you mean the vrc6 soundchip
The real Nightmare here is the video display, goodness gracious.
otherwise a great TAS.
