Rental places around me have Kubota. Hint to me what brand might be better. Dislike how JD treated the Farmers with their Maintenance monitoring system.

Wife and I are looking at a tractor for small family farm. We have JD, NH, Kubota, and AGCO in our town… (Mahindra and Rural King too… but we are talking real tractors here..)
And JD is the only one that treated us like real customers. As soon as the others heard we were comparing options and wouldn’t be purchasing right then, they acted like we were in the way, or an annoyance…
JD rep straight up told me he bought a Deere because of parts availability and such but that he thought Massey was a better tractor at the HP I was looking at. I respect that a lot.
We will probably go Deere because of it.

@@ln5747 Not at all. His actions(owning a Deere in spite of his personal feelings) align with the advice of EVERY farmer in my region that I’ve asked, and with my observation of what’s in use in my area, and strengthen my decision. EVERYONE here runs Deere for serious work. For parts availability, support, dealer options(we have 3 Deere dealers near me), it’s not a question when seriously considered. In 20 years, when the AGCO dealer has been here longer they may be a solid option. Time will tell.

Entered a Kabota dealer. Wanted me to get on computer and "build" my tractor. Finally got the sales guy to just give me the price on one on the lot. 7 to 10 grand more expensive than what I did get and I am NOT fueling up on top of the hood paint. They are all great brands with earned reputations but there are brands that are trying to gain loyalty. I say find those brands if you have a dealer near enough instead of going to these old brands that no longer feel they have to try. Just do some research, aint hard.

At one time, the thing that steers me away from the JD (especially the sub compact and compact) tractors, is that they have/had an aluminum rearend. I don’t know if they still do or not, but if you had a frontend loader on it, you’d need a ballast box on back at times to lift heavy loads.

I don't know much about the newer tractors, I really just use my grandpa's old kubota m4800 from the early 2000s, that thing just keeps going. We also have a kubota zero turn mower, that thing is a tank, the only issue we had was the cheap Chinese deck bearings that locked up a 50 hours. Every john deere mowers I've used was really cheap and had a garbage Briggs and Stratton that always needs to be worked on.

@@CountryCraziness I wouldn't either, that things been used and abused, still runs like new. doesn't look to good though, the controls for the bucket are so worn out I had to take the guard off to make the bucket float, the seat is about to fall off, I'm surprised the hydraulic lines haven't busted or at least leaked. I'll eventually fix it up.

I have 2 Kubota's: a BX-25 and a B3030. My only 2 complaints would be the krappy beads on the front tires--they are forever going flat without tubes. The second is the clearance between the rear wheels and the frame. Living in the Northeast, I need to run chains in the winter for traction. On the BX-25, I was just barely able to squeeze a set on. For the B3030 I had to add factory 1.5" wheel spacers. Come on Kubota; you got to assume that some people may need to run chains, so put a little more wheel clearance on your tractors! I almost forgot to mention, that the BX-25 has an Achille's heel. The cooling fan for the transmission sits up over the rear diff with little protection. If a stick ever gets up in there, it will shred the plastic fan. To repair it, it's one big hassle or repair fee. I would advise anyone buying the BX style tractors to look at the BXpanded under armor for protection.

Kubota makes and designs their own engines, John Deere buys their engines from YANMAR and paints them green so you have a green YANMAR.

My older Kubota 3130 has a great foot rocker pedal, easy to use. My new 3760 has a different style foot pedal and it is extremely difficult to put enough toe or heel into it to make it go into reverse. Will be looking to modify pedal.

My B2650 has the longer pedal and I don’t really have much trouble with either direction. There is a slight amount of adjustment if you loosen the two bolts. You could drill out the holes a bit to allow for more adjustment of angle. I personally prefer the natural movement of the treadle pedal vs twin pedals. Mostly it’s just a matter of adapting to either style. I believe Kubota moved brake pedals to the left side on the models that had them on the right.

The compact JDs are as good and no better than all of the South Korean compacts on the market, because the compact JDs are built by them. Yes, JD has recognition and dealer support. Yes the JDs are good. However, Kubota is heads and shoulders a better machine.
