    Perhaps THE Best exercise to forestall decrepitude. After dragging the sled one day a week for four years, I have the best calves and booty of my life at age 65, and I have squatted, lunged, and deadlifted most of my life. Drag 80 pounds all the way around the track in soft gravel in barefoot shoes and all your foot problems will disappear too. Between laps we do ballistic and explosive exercises (wall balls, club bells, etc.) A hard workout on a beautiful Sunday morning is the high point of my week. Go Sledding!

    Thanks for a very informative video. I started sled training 10 days ago, and I absolutely love it! I load the sled up as heavy as I can handle (currently at 235 pounds, including weight of the sled), then push it forward, and drag it backwards (walking backwards while pulling it toward me), 15 yards in each direction, 6 sets. It's an incredible workout, and really fun. I'm 53, and I feel like it's making me younger!

    Yeah I do push pull, but I’ll get down low on the sleds arms full extension and drive as if I’m in a Rugby union scrum. Then I hold the sled bar sit into almost 90* angle and drag backwards arms full extension and I’m sitting backwards.... massive quad activation dragging back and glutes /calves pushing down low - over all strength endurance / cardio thru the roof

    Is it possible to drag an absurd heavy weight having a light bodyweight? Currently i am working in a warehouse, one of my tasks is dragging pallets, and they can be really heavy, easily around 1 ton. And my coworkers mock me because I don't get to move them(I am very short and 55 kg), even when I consider my self very strong in powerlifting movements. Is there a specific technique for that?

    Matt - excellent video man thanks so much for the video.
    I would love to hear about loading of the sled drag for different attributes of strength, endurance and warm up.
    I realise "weight" is not a great guide as I drag a tire that has lots of friction so minimal weight required versus a metal sled.
    But are there some basic descriptions of loading?

      Grab a tire from in front of any mechanic shop, they have to pay to throw them out so they don't mind. Drill two holes in the tire about 5 inches apart, grab a little 1 foot nylon loop/runner at a climbing store or a hardware store to put through the hole to make an eye, , loop a big nylon strap through that eye OR TRXs, OR rings, OR a rope any thickness, OR a harness (deer drag harness or climbing harness or construction harness all cheap) and for the cost of the nylon runner and the strap/rope/grip you have a fully functional sled
      I put a small square if plywood in mine as a bottom bso I can put weights and cinder blocks of all sizes in there

    Greetings! I have a question. I am considering the heavy weighted sled pull routine into my exercise. Planning to build a huge muscular physique. I am not aiming to be a sprinter or a runner. I want to gain size. I want to be huge and muscular. Will a HEAVY weight sled pull exercise hinder mass gain? I keep reading on other forums that the sled pull burns fat and energy and makes you lose weight. Will using heavy weights on the sled make you gain mass instead of losing it? Thank you for your kind attention.

    I did sled for the first time today. My legs are so sore but I love it! I cycle often so for my legs be sore, says this exercise is the business!
    Can't wait to add more weight but wish the space was longer. I want to be near dead by the time I get to the other end. Oh well, the weight should make up for the space.
    Anyway...
    Can anyone answer:
    1. Can I do this every workout? (Multiple times a week on back to back days?)
    2. Does pushing a sled in front of you moving forward, do the same work as pulling a sled forward behins you (like in this video)?
    3. If I'm pushing it forward while in front of me, what is the best way to target my glutes?
    Raising my hips high?
    Walking slow?
    Full leg extensions?
    Etc.
    What combo do you suggest?

    • @space245man5
      @space245man5 5 лет назад

      No, this is traction based eccentric-less loading whereas the the prowler isn't traction

    • @MarkHunter04093
      @MarkHunter04093 5 лет назад +1

      Throw a tow strap on the prowler and compare. I think there are a lot more ways to mess up pushing vs. dragging, especially when using a tow strap across the hips as shown here.

    This was JUST what I was looking for in the way of helping me target my glutes with the sled. Now, how would you go about programming a simple little sled workout. In the video you said you only walk 20-40 yards...would you do this for 5 rounds? Or where might you start with implementing the sled into your routine?

    Sled is concentric training only. Good for work capacity and recovery, but not the excerise you use to build muscle because there is no eccentric.

      @Chris Curd lmaooo no logic comment

    • @MasterNservant
      @MasterNservant 5 лет назад +4

      There are many ways to build muscle. Concentric training works fine to build muscle. Olympics weigth lifters build a lot of muscle doing mostly the concentric part of the lifts. And by the way, the sled drag movement is both concentric and eccentric

    • @Eplemos4Life
      @Eplemos4Life 5 лет назад

      moris salas how is the sled ecentric. Which muscle does ecentric loading, tell me. Really curious here.
      I am not saying there is only one way to build muscle, but taking out the most important factor is a stupid way to build muscle.
      If you do not value your time and are not result oriented, sure go ahead and pick the least efficient ways to build muscle.
      And please do not fit your bias to your favorite athletes just because their pshyique is a more musuclar than a regular humsn beeing whos heaviest lifts are thwir remote control.

    • @MasterNservant
      @MasterNservant 5 лет назад

      Eplemos4Life its not about bias. Just saying there are several ways to build muscle. When you walk with a sled as resistance you are flexing your knees and then extending them. The extension part pf the movement is eccentric for you hamstrings. Even if the range of movement is very short in this movement it still is eccentric and a great way to train your muscles. Walking or running with a sled is a very god way to train for power and muscle conditioning. To build quality muscle you should not just use one aspect of training. Speed, power and conditioning are very important too. But of course that depends on what your goals are. Dont get me wrong, i also do classic ”body building workouts” but i think you get a lot more out of your training if you mix in other stuff too

    • @Eplemos4Life
      @Eplemos4Life 5 лет назад

      Phase1: Hip flexors and rectus femors lifts your knee in concentric.
      Phase 2: Hams and glutes drive your leg back when it hits the ground, while simaltaniously extending the knee from quads, also concentric.
      Cycle repeats.
      There is no ecentric. Sleds is a shitty tool for muscle building (doesnt matter how popular a youtuber is who says it) but a good tool for workcapacity.
      But please enlighten me of ecentric loading in sled.
