Don't throw away dry clay! It's still useful as a filler for a larger project - for example, if you are making a cat latte art, you can fill the head part with the dry clay, and cover it with the fresh one. This way you won't waste any material you spent money on.
@Nunya Bidness Thank you! Yes, I shop a lot at 1127Handcrafter and they offered to send me the clay for review and giveaway :). Their shipping is very efficient and I hope you'll have a lot of fun with your craft supplies. I would definitely recommend only using acrylic paint for colouring clay. Acrylic paint dries very quickly and is waterproof, which helps make the clay even stronger. (Be careful never to use oil paint in clay because that will turn greasy and won't dry properly).
Air dry Clay is amazing. I actually whipped up my first batch a few days ago. It was so much fun I even made a video. I ended up making some beach style ornaments. Got any tips for cracking? Awesome vid!😊
This was really helpful. Watching your tutorials has made me really want to try some of these crafts. I've only ever used Fimo clay when I've made things in the past and didn't know what types of air dry clay had what qualities. This video helped show the pros and cons of each type of clay. I might try some of these out once the semester is over. Now I need to decide, do I want to do clay things or learn felting?
I really want to get back to sculpting, we can't turn the oven on in summer, so I'm looking into air dry. I feel like air dry will be SO much easier! And I really love how it can just set it out and it'll dry! I think I've found exactly what I needed! 😊💜
I love the fact that you give the information clearly and quickly. I found out just what I wanted to, without having to sit through five minutes of chatting. Well done. Of course when one is doing a real time crafting demonstration we like the chatting as the work continues but an information video should be like yours.
Great video, thank you for sharing the information with us! Although this is an old video now, if there’s anyone just discovering it like me, it seems like you’re better off not buying dark clay unless you’re going to use it all at once. Do like she says and just color it with acrylic paint, paint it afterwards, or, pro tip though not suitable for every situation, use pastels, they give an amazing look.
It very much is! I've been using it to make small angel sculptures and it really works well. It can be smoothened out with just a bit of water. The only thing about it is that it does dry VERY fast, especially the smaller pieces.
i reamber when i was trying to make horns and i used taco dough and i put it in the sun after painting 6 layers of oaint on them then put them in the sun after a week i painted them 8 more times and still today there hard as a rock who knew taco dough could be that good? (dont ever use taco dough its messy)
Great video! I'm not really...the best...when it comes with handling air dry clay but I find it better than polymer clay because I don't always need to go to the oven and I've now just moved houses and I don't really understand how to use this oven! I usually just wrap some tape around the packet and leave it and a couple days later it's harrd in some places so I found this video very helpful!
Yep, that's definitely not technically correct because polymer clay needs to be oven-baked by definition. I think the company decided to market it like that so that people realise that the clay is very similar to polymer clay once dry.
I found this interesting because in art my teacher is making us make doughnuts with air-dry clay (but its the crayola kind so it's not as good) and I really loved the stuff you made!
These clays are even kawaii with their fancy packaging! Kind of reminds me of chocolate wrappers. :3 I just got into using polymer clay you are giving me so many ideas!
Thank you so much! this has helped me a million i just bought some hearty white to practice my deco making and was told by some resin based is better etc etc but seeing this has helped a million in understanding the differences and what to do with the clay's i have. Thank you so so much!
Nicky Valentyne Yay so happy to hear that!! It's mostly personal preference, I like the heavier texture of resin for making very small sweet deco charms but I prefer paper clay for larger, kawaii pieces :D. Btw, if you want to try cold porcelain, FimoKawaiiEmotions YT just posted a pretty cool tutorial on how to DIY cold porcelain using only a pot & stove: ruclips.net/video/x4Xg-4ntF4o/видео.html
i have been working with polymer clay for a long time but I don't often get the chance to do any projects because my house heats up horribly whenever I use the oven so I can only use it in the winter to bake my projects. This is a problem because I have school in the winter. So when I have time out of school to craft I don't an oven and when I do have an oven i don't have time. I was told about air dry clay by a friend who watches your videos and I had heard of it but I was scared to buy it because there was a lot I didn't know about it. thank you for this video I plan to get some now that I am a little more confident in working with it thanks to you.
1:09 OK so I have a question,, i’m trying to make cute little cat decoration for the bows (cuz I’m cosplaying Hiyoko) and I just want to know if paper clay is the right way to do?
So I want to start making small statues/figurines and wanna see how they turn out with air dry clay since I can't fire anything. Which of the two would be better for that?
Thanks to you, I started felting and crafting with clay! you are one of my fav crafty youtubers! you are so inspiring! keep doing what you do! ps I luv your vids
Personally I like polymer clay better because it is stiffer, and i don’t have to worry about it drying out. But, I can still see why some may like air dry clay better.
Very informative and concise! What can you say about painting and sealing air dry clays? Was waiting if that will be covered by the video. Does it last long after getting painted or sealed? Does it prevent shrinkage?
Thank you for this. I had the idea to start making my own hair clips since I don't like the ones I find in stores. I saw that air dry clay was pretty cheap, but I didn't want to get something I'd use wrong. Thank you again!
Brilliant! All the information I needed to get me started. It was great to see the difference in the finished articles. Thanks SO much for doing this video
Thank you for making this video! I’ve one question though: I’ve made keychains and small book charms before with paper clay, but i find that over time, the clay part would detach from the metal eye hook that I’ve secured on it, especially with the keychains because they’re more frequently handled compared to the charm bracelet (because i rarely wear the bracelets lol). Any tips on how to properly secure the eye hooks to the paper clay?
Thanks so much for this video! This would be a great substitute for polymer clay for me. The baking part of the polyclay always stresses me out, haha! I'll be sure to get some of this clay as soon as I can :D

It very much is! I've been using it to make small angel sculptures and it really works well. It can be smoothened out with just a bit of water. The only thing about it is that it does dry VERY fast, especially the smaller pieces.
I heard it's garbage.

Notice on Modena resin clay is called "Air dry polymer clay" :D
Yep, that's definitely not technically correct because polymer clay needs to be oven-baked by definition. I think the company decided to market it like that so that people realise that the clay is very similar to polymer clay once dry.
+Maqaroon OH MY GOODNESS A 500K UTUBER REPLIED TO MY COMMENT I AM SO HAPPY YIPEE!!!!!

Your voice is very calming!! Love it!!
*proceeds to replay part where she takes out the clay over and over again*
i have been working with polymer clay for a long time but I don't often get the chance to do any projects because my house heats up horribly whenever I use the oven so I can only use it in the winter to bake my projects. So I want to start making small statues/figurines and wanna see how they turn out with air dry clay since I can't fire anything. Which of the two would be better for that?
+Gamer Dino Hi! i think resin clay would be better because it heavier and dries like polymer clay :DD
Ok. Thank you so much! ^w^
+Maqaroon same I was thinking of customising a figure by adding some clay to the hair. Should I also use resin clay. Thank you
+Maqaroon oh and does resin clay smell bad pls help me thank you.

"this is the latte art bear I made 5 months ago" "BEAR in mind" ITS A PUN I THINK I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO SPOTTED IT
Jimmy F almost everyone noticed it 😂 (how come when I try to say something it sounds offensive )
Jimmy F I spotted it too
Nice video, short yet informative! The air dry clay bunnies are so cute! :)
you made a bear pun with the latte art thing, didnt you?
Indeed she did
That video was really helpful for my paper clay tutorials. I find it as useful as a book.
This music is really funny
I didn't even know there were so many brands of air dry clay. Thank you very much for the explanations.
Thanks so much for this video! This would be a great substitute for polymer clay for me. The baking part of the polyclay always stresses me out, haha! I'll be sure to get some of this clay as soon as I can :D
Great video! I've had some luck saving clay that is somewhat dried out by kneading in a very small amount of water. :)
This is very very helpful :) thank you . I've been deciding on what clay to get and learning how to use it.
Congrats on almost reaching a million subscribers!
hello! sorry if you've already answered this in the past, but what are some of the best glazes to use on paper clay items? I would greatly appreciate a reply! I love your work, this channel as well as cutelifehacks are my two favorite channels on youtube! I really mean it! :) keep up the great work!
Nice video! But I have a few questions. What kind of paint do you use to color the clay? Are there any shiny & matte coatings that I can use to seal in the paint? Can I apply glitter, and if yes, how?
It looks soooooooo soft!!!!!!:)
I love this video! I've watched this at least five times.
That was a great video, thank you. I love to make ceramics but don't have a kiln or place to do it so I thought about air dry clay. I didn't know anything about it until your video.
