Hi, I've been working with UV resin for about 7 years, and I want to give some info from my experience/experiments: It's true that the reason gouache doesn't work well in UV resin is because it's water based, but really so is acrylic paint to an extent. It can sometimes do the job in two part epoxy resin because the curing time allows enough water to evaporate as the resin heats up and cures. I've been successful before tinting UV resin with acrylic paint, but then I had to let it stand uncured for at least half an hour after mixing, and it seems to depend on the pigment itself (I had an awful experience with sap green but ultramarine blue was fine). It's more hassle than it's worth, and since it's so opaque you have to cure it in layers. Alcohol ink is easier since alcohol is quicker to evaporate than water, but it's not the most lightfast. It can also cause warping if you don't let the alcohol evaporate. My vote would probably be for either specific resin pigments, ground up soft pastels or colored mica. Apologies for this wall of text, please have a lovely day everyone!
OMG thankyouuu so much for the long explanation😭💗 you guys are truly the best! i’ve searched the resin tutorial on youtube and google but i found no answer- once again thankyou for helping me! i’ll try to use alcohol ink/ resin pigment for the next creations hihi🥹
my toxic trait is thinking i could easily do this while i have zero experience with clay and am very bad at painting lmao. all of this is so adorable, i love the little pool and the capybara sm
Well you need to start somewhere. If u think u can't do well, it's better than not starting at all. 1st try meant to be bad. A few of tries, I think u will be as good as the video.
Crafting is a learned skill. you can do it it you want to, all you gotta do is put in the effort to learn the skills :) im trying to be encouraging but English is my 2nd language i hope this is ok
@@crowskinned english is my second language as well!! but as far as i can tell yours is perfect :) and i totally get what you mean, that's so nice of you! i just get frustrated super easily with crafts and stuff like this
We all have to start somewhere, its okay if your first attempt doesnt turn out well, im sure if you keep practicing you’ll also be able to make the things in the video easily :)
hello friends- please watch in 1080p/ 1440p resolution for the best watching experience ok! hope you enjoy the video as much as i enjoyed the process🥹💐💗🌸 btw i really love the intro of this time’s video HAHAHAHA lmk what do you think!
since it's supposed to look like water, i actually think the bubbles in the resin are perfect! a "happy accident" as bob ross would say :) i love everything, it all came out so cute - i really want to try to make a little frying pan magnet now!
Hello, Im a nail tech and also a resin hobbyist so I work with UV all the time. What I can suggest is entirely covering the clay product with the lamp and work with thin layers so resin can fully cure because you have a small UV lamp, even if its translucent the layers will not fully cure on time if its thick. Lastly, UV resin best works with alcohol based dyes or markers.
uv resin cures in layers! in this case I think the top layer cured before the bottom layer did, so next time u could try doing multiple but thinner layers of resin^^ u could even experiment where the bottom layer has a darker color n it gets lighter w more layers (kinda like the Minecraft glass water effect hehe) also love the details on the ketchup one!!
Idk much about uv resin so I have a question like is it mandatory to have the machine to dry up the uv resin I may sound so stupid but can you please recommend is there something I could use instead of uv resin to get that liquid like thing as I am not having that machine or that thing
definitely cure large amounts of uv resin in layers so it won’t bubble up. but i actually don’t mind the bubbles on the pool one, it makes it looks more realistic 💖
I don’t see anyone mentioning this, but I love how you made each clip on-beat. It makes for a lovely watch, especially when added to the incredible art!
For those of you reading this comment, it's okay, it's normal to feel lonely sometimes, if you're going through tough times, keep trying, but never give up,
Thank you for this comment, I'm watching videos and anything to get my mind off of moving, college life and everything, I hope you are well and your live is filled with joy
I was so invested in this video... I NEEDED to see how these trinket dishes turned out. And that is a great attitude; yes, keep trying till the resin works out - you will definitely nail it!
It’s a huge miracle your video appeared in my FYP cuz I’ve been looking for videos that make these clay trinkets for the longest time (not that I wanna make them but I always knew there would be something therapeutic about watching them). Can’t wait for more videos like this!!! ❤
make sure to have good ventilation and use gloves while handling resin. that stuff is serious and prolonged exposure can lead to health issues (or sensitivities)
I love the precision of your process and how your tools help you achieve that. I also didn’t know that you need to score a section before adding to it. Very smart! ❤:)
everthing about this is adorable and so well made! i love that the process is in-beat with the music. the painting really makes these works shine, you make it look so easy! you make me want to get back into clay sculpting, i'll look into it 😆 thank you for your work, and have a wonderful day! ❤
I found this video so very relaxing and soothing to watch. I love your fridge magnets, they are adorable, the frying pans and condiments are my favourites. Also, your trinket dishes came out really cute too, I really love the pool one with the ladder, so adorable! By the way, your resin in the trinket dishes reacted with the water based paint that you used to colour it. If you use resin a lot and if you like to colour it, the very best colours for resin I have found are the Let's Resin ones, they don't discolour, and they don't fade with sunlight, plus they are not very expensive. I hope that helps you. This is my first time watching one of your videos and I subscribed straight away. You create beautiful things. Have a great week!
hii love your videos! could you tell me how you get the clay off the cutting mat without ruining the shape? when i try to do that my clay always ends up losing its shape bc it sticks to the cutting mat. thank you! have a nice day to anyone reading this!!
One thing that helped me avoid those bubbles is tracing along the edges of any deep/concave piece I’m trying to seal some uv resin then dry it. After that, i apply the resin around the whole area with the edges already sealed so that we avoid the bubbles. Hope this helps!
I love the results! I do have a question though. Is it an optional step to coat the finished product with UV resin/glossy varnish or is it a necessity? If so, are there other varnishes you could coat the finishing products with that give it a more matte rather than glossy look?

They all ended up so damn cute!! I love your attention to details with the tiny strawberries and all the info of the brands in the bottles!! I love the Heinz bottle. So cute. 🙂 The summer pool is gorgeous, even with the bubbles. They make the water look more real. haha!! 😁 The capybara is so cute too!!
I envy your steady hand painting! Any time I start off with a nice smooth line, my hand has a mind of its own and suddenly will shake or wobble and ruins my perfect line hahaha...also happens often when I measure some powder with a spoon. Before you know what's happened, it's all spilt over the table. This video was really relaxing to watch, I enjoyed your style and design! Such cute creations
so amazes to your idea and creative! also very enjoy looking the process of hand making as I am not the person that good at this~ Love the magnets and the pool!
UV resin should be cured in thin layers, without water-based colorants. Too thick and it won't cure, too much water content and it will fail. You can use dry pastels to color resin, or mica powder, or alcohol based colorants safely as long as you are curing the UV resin in thin layers. =^^=
I think the huge bubbles are formed because of the other coating you used, it might be reacting to resin which is definitely stronger thats why I dont use any other coating with resin cuz of the chemical reacting,..
My review; Honestly, what a fantastic video, they way her hand worked to make those cute and adorable lookin shapes was just fantastic. Her colour schemes were amazingly satisfying, and the soft comfort of food made out of clay is calming, its an amazing video you made and i hope you grow more! -alots of love from iz ❤
Gouache is water based, which is not compatible with resin. That is why it failed. Next time try acrylic paint or alcohol inks as your resin colorant
*takes notes* I've recently bought some clay and alcohol inks so I'll keep this in mind! I can't wait to make some charms like gazoo's~ 💖
Yup! They’re also using uv resin…that doesn’t cure well if it’s too deep. That’s why they had pockets of uncured resin.
