Drake maye was in one of my communications class. Can vouch for being a lunch pail guy, the kind of guy you’d want to date your daughter, first-one-in but last-one-out kinda guy. Sneaky athletic. High motor and high iq type of guy.

I'm a pats fan so maybe I'm just a homer, but there's a good chance the pats sit their QB for the first year while they build the roster out more completely. If they're able to draft a good tackle or wide receiver in the second round, sit their first round QB, and draft well in 2025 I think there's a good chance that QB succeeds

Given Wilson had 1 great year, I feel like Jayden Daniels is closer to him contextually.
Not to say Daniels won't work, but Drake Maye at least had 2 solid years of being considered a top 5 draft pick.
@@codyb.3015 Daniels played at LSU, he faced a lot tougher defenses then what Wilson did at BYU. What Wilson lacks is confidence, at the NFL level he should have had it going in, but you got Aaron Rodgers coaching up his confidence and it's year 3. The dude was in way over his head. Oh and what he also lacks is accuracy throwing a simple pass to the flats. My god I don't know how many times he will sail the ball over their receivers head or throw it at their feet on a simple out route.

Word is the only place he has plummeted is in the media and most teams had and still have him QB2. This is the part of the year where teams are leaking all sorts of stuff as information warfare.
The most interesting game was the App game. They are Div IAA. They always have good teams, but Maye didn't have a good game, and they took UNC to 2OT. People just kind of skip over that game when talking about his "hot start"
Maye "falling" seems like a smear campaign from teams that want him to fall. He's like CJ Stroud or Zach Wilson where everyone said he was going number 2 overall for a reason and that reason didn't just go away. He's insanely talented and less risky of a choice than Daniels or Penix with a better upside than McCarthy. Commanders with Scary Terry is already a better receiving group than he's ever had. He should go number 2

I feel like wilson only really became the consensus number 2 during the offseason bc covid season made there be less data on all the qbs and he had a really good combine.
Whoever washington drafts at QB should and will sit for most of the year. Terrys going to be 29 going on 30 at the end of a contract year. I just hope dude can remain productive.

I don't really see it as an FU to Jacoby Brisket since he would get a great reciever to work with and if he uses his weapons to be the 2024 Geno Smith. He'll get a great contract sonewhere else when NE drafts a qb.
It's interesting to watch every March heading into April, QBs like Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr being talked into the top 10, top 20, but it pumps better players down the draft board.
Fans never learn. Every year the media fires them up with QB mania, pumps up the ratings, drives likes, clicks, follows, mentions & ad revenue. Then at least half of the first round QBs fail & they're the fist ones to call them failures. The list is endless of the highly drafted QB failures, yet the cycle will repeat again and again.

Drake Maye is a blue collar All American kid, he'll fit right in the Boston area. He's big, tough, and a hard worker, just like all New Englanders.
Idk i really think washington is going to get Maye, just makes the most sense. Bears get Williams, Patriots get Daniels, McCarthy slides to Broncos and Vikings go with Nix. Leaving Penix to Seattle, and Rattler to a random team but ill assume someone whos gonna groom him, which i can see that being Raiders

The ACC was not a particularly competitive conference this past year, and Maye still struggled to win games. Was he in the Heisman conversation? I don't remember... Tbh, people sleeping on the numbers from Penix Jr. and Nix, easily the two best QBs in the PAC 12 this past year (The conference which btw includes the projected number one overall pick Caleb Williams...)

The thing about Maye "falling" is that it feels very manufactured by sports media trying to prop up Jayden Daniels. If you follow the sources around the league it honestly feels like the QB who'll drop is Daniels.
You got it all wrong. Daniel’s going #2 and the question mark is on the patriots either trading back or getting a qb in Maye that needs to sit at least a year
Yea the only people really talk about Jayden is size. You actually look at tape of Drake and not the highlights it’s underwhelming. His best game was against Campbell. Analysts for so swayed by his arm talent which good and just assume he going to be Josh Allen. Thats not how this works Josh was basically Anthony Richardson from last year when he came out. Drake a couple levels below that movement skills are closer to Jones but has better arm.
Daniels is going to go #2. There is zero chance he drops more than a spot or two. Even if Washington or NE didn't want him, somebody who did would gladly give them a king's ransom to move up & take him. The NFL has learned a few things since the success of Lamar Jackson took them by surprise.

You are correct. The media is pushing this JD #2 but I’m not buying it. Maye has been QB2, and will remain QB2.
If Maye really does fall and is available at 8 I would love for the Falcons to take him and sit him behind Cousins for a couple seasons. I know we will almost certainly take defense but if he is there at 8 it would be crazy to pass up the chance.

Im just saying if Maye is there at 8 I wouldn’t hate it to secure the franchise QB who could then sit behind Cousins for 1 or 2 seasons, even if it meant cutting Cousins loose after year 2 and eating the cap hit for a season, if it meant ATL has their QB for the next decade then ya

One thing that was interesting is his sacks went down in a down year. Tells me he throws it away or doesn't force something that's not there

I the reality is for most quarterbacks their success will depend where they are drafted and if their team has a plan to develop him. So many quarterbacks go to bad teams where their coaches either don’t know what they are doing or don’t show enough process where the ownership group consistently fires its coaching staffs. When that happens it hurts player by having to learn a new playbook and the new coach/GM may not believe in the player so they often use the quarterback as a scapegoat for one season. I think it is actually in May’s best interest to fall since I don’t believe in Washington or New England. If he drops he will fall to a better team.

Just a reminder that the last drafted qb to be 24 or older in their rookie year and make a first-team all-pro was Joe Theismann in 1983. Youth plays a huge role in qb development.
True but let's remember that that period all the way up to pretty recently the ncca was very strict about eligibility you get 4 years an then your only way to get an extra year was to redshirt as a result the only QBs who were even in position to be drafted despite being older were guys who played baseball and army vets now with the rules relaxed and guys hangin around college longer we'll probably see a few more guys who can play be drafted at age 25+

When I think of QB's I think of musicians. There are many talented musicians that never make it big. Maybe they got together with the wrong band mates, maybe their manager was terrible. Plenty of good musicians have the talent and potential to make it big but if they don't have the right situation around them they end up being busts and playing Tom Petty covers at the local bar.
Honeslty think Williams is overhyped but 🤷♂️ could be wrong.

If Maye does end up dropping for whatever, it'll be an amazing thing for his career. Not only will he end up with a chip on his shoulder, but he'll likely end up on a better roster, rather than trying to save one of the worst squads in the league. Unless he falls into the Broncos lap, which would pretty much be like getting picked 2nd or 3rd (not trying to be mean, but it's going to be rough in Denver for a couple years with the dead Russ money.)
