Great video... your right on point that we owe it to a living creature to make educated, responsible shots. Saddened that I'm hearing to much about industry shooters making long, poor shots only to sell products or make a name for themselves.

I’m aiming for the vitals, or I’m not taking the shot. With whitetail and my setup, I don’t even consider the shoulder as an obstacle. I have no trouble getting through the humerus or the scapula. If my setup was less capable, I would wait for perfect shot angle. Quartering away. Personally I would never aim further back because I was afraid of hitting bone. Wait till bone is out of the way and aim for the highest probably of success. Lung farthest away from the heart is not equal to lung at the heart. That’s just how the body works. If you’re already aiming for the edge of the vitals, you’re more likely to miss them, obviously. The goal in my opinion should be to pass completely through the most vital area. If bones are an obstacle, I would quartering away shots from an elevated position to increase the odds of this outcome.

There ARE thousands of deer hunters that have no true idea of where to hit a deer or antelope. They learned from Dad or Uncle Jim that had no real knowledge of the anatomy. Nor where to aim if the animal is not standing broadside. With all the information available like this video ITS RIDICULOUS!

Aiming at the vital V gives you some lee way left & right . Everything depends on the angle of the animal and if your hunting elevated or on the ground. Wishing all a successful memorable season.

Straight up the leg, lower 1/3 is my aiming mantra

Good information. Way too soft on the straight on shot, weak opinion.
