I have only done European mounts precisely because I periodically want to take the antlers down and examine them. Harder to do with a shoulder mount. Good luck this fall. Hopefully, you gentlemen get a couple of Boone and Crockett bucks and go through the dilemma of deciding which type of mount or what current shoulder mount is going to lose its place. Thank you for the fine content.
I can do a Euro mount myself for free with a 10 gallon bucket, my sous vide machine, and a hose on my tiny back patio in downtown DC and fit the mount on a shelf or a tiny wall space. Easy choice.
Where I live, you are lucky to find a taxidermist who charges less than $700 to do a shoulder mount but there are alot of people who do euro's for under $100. I think you guys put together some great perspectives for both options
Easiest option for DIY Euro mount: Dig a hole. Put head in hole (at least 6 inches or mice will chew it). Wait 14-18 months. Uncover. Pressure wash. Skull will be a beautiful mottled golden color. If you want it bright white, set it out in full sun 6-8 weeks.
I did the stove thing! I’m divorced now, so game on! I have a 140 rule, Under is Euro over is shoulder. My buddy, who is almost 7 feet tall, can’t come in my small house without getting gored lol
An overlooked resolution to the space issue is to just hunt Public Land in the Northeast. you’ll never have to worrry about running out of space for mounts 🤣
Y’all should do a video about picking tree stand locations and how to choose them

Euro mount for me, DIY pick ‘em up and appreciate them all over again. Save my money for gear and tags.

I live in Pennsylvania and can confirm your point is valid lol.
I can do a European mount in my backyard. Therefore, it is the one I choose lol
I like euro mounts. Cheap, easy to do, spatially efficient, and I love the old timeyness of if.
Euro mounts are better because let's face it, no one can afford shoulder mounts anymore lol.
Euro mounts are so ugly. But most of my deer are euro mounts due to cost
I disagree. Shoulder mounts look tacky. Skull mounts are timeless.
Freedom Mount
who actually has money for taxidermy
Lots of people
Euro mounts. Shoulder mounts are ugly, creepy, just weird
