*Remotes are nice to have, but not necessary since the projector will be within reach.
Notes:
Epson 470 and above have HDMI ports, older models use VGA or USB-B and you will need to add drivers and adapters to your computer to use.
Epson 450-465 have a bump on the bottom which requires a DIY solution to make work. There are plans linked in the written article on an adjustable shelf that some have used.
Epson 410-430 needs a little more space to get a large image (about 2 feet).
“W” in Epson models means widescreen. And “I” means interactive. Neither is a must-have for sewing.

Thanks for taking the time on all aspects of calibrating. I did it a couple of times as I changed the shelf I used for the projector (first shelf could not take the weight). With all that practice (shelf kept shifting due to weight on the floating shelf), I was able to quickly finalize my setup with new, higher shelf that remains level. Now working from pic of a an existing pattern and got one spot on- hooray. The second item was not so good (width fine but not length), so back to Inkscape to determine what I did wrong the second time! Learning lots about my phone leveling for taking pics and Inkscape.
Thank you for doing this. You have made this doable. I ordered the HDM1 to HDM1 cable from Amazon for under $10 including tax and a Wireless connector from Ebay, new for under $30 USD including tax. I'll be getting the cable in a few days so I can start. The Wireless in two to three weeks for no cable clutter.

I purchased the same model Epson projector that you use. The majority of fabrics I see with are darker colors. Does this projector have the ability to change the colors projecting onto the fabric so I will be able to see the lines?

Can you use the keystone adjustments in the projector instead of tilting when you are close?
Yes, do the physical tilting first and get as close as you can. Then, fine tune with keystone adjustments. Just don’t rely on keystones to make all the adjustments from the beginning 😉.
Hello! Once you have it calibrated... can you move around the mat? Can I add more mats to enlarge my cutting space?
Yes! As long as you do not change the distance between the mat and projector, you can move the mat and add more mats without recalibrating. A simple quick check of the calibration square on each pattern is recommended before cutting!
I'm having probs with the projected lines distorting if there's even the smallest wrinkle. Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with this??? Thanks for all your very helpful tutorials.
Yes, this is more common with UST projectors. Raising the projector higher above your table will help. Also a good set of pattern weights to smooth out the fabric.

This is super super helpful! But the only thing I'm not clear on is where the lines on the mat should sit? Should they sit inside the box? Outside the box? Or the lines on the mat should line up in the middle of the black outlines? I really hope that makes sense! X
Aim for the calibration tool lines to be centered over the lines on your mat. 😉

Can you use the Epson wirelessly??
To use the Epson wirelessly, you need to add a casting device such as Chromecast, AnyCast, Roku, etc.
Do I need to purchase another mat with the calibration symbol on it? Helpful video
It is helpful, but not necessary. If you don’t have a mat with a grid, you’ll need to use a tape measure/ruler to measure the squares with the calibration tool.

Hi, hopefully you see this. I was following your video and I was able to duplicate my screen and then I reset like you said and now it won't duplicate. Any idea why?
You reset the projector settings, correct? Are you on windows or Mac? You can try turning everything off and unplugging, then plug in and turn back on. If this doesn’t fix, post your issue, projector, and computer in the Projectors for Sewing Facebook group for a fast response!
Also, make sure the source is set to the correct cable you are using! HDMI or USB.
My desktop does not support miracast? Suggestions?
Your options are to try a wired connection using one of the cables in the video or add a casting device such as Chromecast. Chromecast works through the Chrome internet browser, so doesn’t use miracast.
(Unless you have a Mac, then you are searching for airplay 😅).
I am a bit confused on how to tilt.
Before really getting into calibration, test it out. Turn on the projector with the calibration tool pulled up. Slightly lift the left bottom edge and notice how it affects the image. Then, put that edge back and lift the bottom right. Notice how the lines skew. Tilt the top forward and backward and see how it affects the lines. This will help you understand how the movement will change the lines.
Make sure the projector is parallel to your table when you begin calibration.
