  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Savenaca: "I believe that one can stimulate fear in opposition through intimidation using verbal and non-verbal actions. These actions effect you, your surroundings knocking on to your opposition. Although I am sure there are many ways of doing this, I have narrowed them down to 4."
Savenaca: "I am a Fijian, lived most of my life in Fiji and have learned many traditions and history concerning my heritage. From ceremonies to dances I have immersed myself in them and made sure to learn as much as I can and understand where I come from and who I am.
I left Fiji to go to Belgium due to my father's job as the ambassador of Fiji. Living in Belgium I have played rugby from club level to International level representing Belgium rugby 7-a-side and 15-a-side Black Devils. Intimidation is one of the battles I have come to realize is imperative in a sport like this. With my experience as an international rugby player and from what I have learnt from my culture, I have made methods that I know works to intimidate oppositions.

The club shown here, known as the "i Ula" is a throwing club. Fijian warriors normally carry 2 clubs - the wielding club called iWau(there are various types of iWau) and the throwing club called the iUla, used to throw at running enemies, when they are out of range. Because it is hard wood, it would give the enemy a death blow with an accurate aim. Nevertheless, with afew minor errors, must give credit to the performance though.
