Ford Ranger P0171 Check Engine Code, Injector and Intake Gasket Replacement

- In the video, I complete testing for a check engine code of P0171 on my 2003 Ford Ranger. These instructions will work on 98 to 2008 Ford Rangers with 3.0L V6. I completed a vacuum smoke test and fuel pressure test. I ended up replacing the injectors, upper intake manifold gaskets and PCV connector tube.

Thanks for sharing this helps a lot of people and thanks for the time you spent putting this together it gives me more wisdom 😊
Learn from me, before spending any time on these instructions perform a compression test.
Been having the same issue. Narrowed it down to sticking injector(s) and leaking upper intake manifold. 280k miles on the injectors so they probably need cleaning and new o-rings.
I have found cleaning the injectors does not work. They usually clog up again within a few thousand miles.
Cool ❤
So overall how many new gaskets u had to put to do that job, does the throtta body doesn’t need a new gasket, and the think u took off from the side of the throttle body(idle air control ) does that doesn’t need a new gasket?
I replaced all the gaskets but the throttle body on the upper intake. I had a gasket kit for IAC and upper intake to lower intake housing. I should have replaced the throttle body gasket, but I could not find one.
What what’s the part number for the fuel filter on the flex fuel I have a very hard time finding one

How long didi this take you my good sir?
About 3 hours
Try cleaning or changing that Idle Air Control valve. I had an Idle problem years ago on my 1999 Ranger 3.0 Flex fuel.
Having another issue now and believe it’s the injectors.
Getting a Miss from apparently cylinder #5. I had “P0305” and “P0174” codes.
Intermittent Miss. “example” drove yesterday 25 mins first thing in morning and ran 100%. Parked it for about 10 mins and the miss is back for the rest of the day. 🤔🤔🤔.
Changed Plugs, Wires, Coil Pack, compression test. Will be performing a smoke test followed by all injectors professionally cleaned/tested/ o’rings.
Any thoughts?
I recommend doing a compression test on all cylinders before replacing any parts. The 3.0 heads are known to warp and you could waste alot of money like I did when you need new heads.
@@chasingmustangs - Just very odd. Seems to run great first start / drive of the day then after I shut it down for 20 mins roughly then the Miss is there for the rest of the day. 🤔🤔🤔
Did a vacuum test today using smoke then Propane. inspected and cleaned the Idle Air Control valve. I did a compression test and results were about 150psi per cylinder. I’ll let you know what end results are but what a headache.
@@chasingmustangs found the issue. 🤙. Cylinder #5 fuel injector was intermittently screwing up when it would heat up from the engine. The Ohm value was roughly 18. + on the Bad injector and 14.7 on all other Injectors. I had a local engine/marine repair shop test all, cleaned and new O’rings. Runs great now, code is gone and runs strong.
Thanks for advice 👍👍👍
I have same problem with my ranger 2006 bank 1 poor
Hopefully you just have a simple vacuum leak and don't have to do what I did.
He didn’t do the smoke test correctly
Please share, i follow the Ford instructions. Always like to hear someone's recommendations
Made me dizzy
