I agree 100%. Jazzy noodling is the last thing I want to hear when I'm looking at a distortion pedal. I want to hear chonky riffs played with a pick, not head- bobbing slap and tickle bulls**t..
To be honest, the only competition going on here is in the price. I'd get one to try out, but in every demo I watched it sounded thin and fizzy compared to what its trying to be
@@ileutur6863 the trick is to wear good quality headphones when listening to bass reviews. It gives you the true sound you can expect. The monomyth is anything but thin sounding
I bought one as a birthday present for myself and at first I was disappointed. The distorion was too extreme for my taste and I couldn't find a sweet spot between the drive and clean signals. Finally I found the point where this pedal shines. Is a powerful tool to help the bass to stand out in a mix. The right amount of drive makes the bass be heard without sounding like Lemmy playing in a wedding band.
that that price it's hard to do worse! looks like a great starting point to save a new bassist some money or possibly take it on the road and not have to worry about it's survival?
The emulated cab sounds much better than the particular one you guys were using. Not a fan of the drive (too woofy), but if I were looking for a clean preamp, this could be on the list.
Hello friend, I have a question for you. When you connect the Joyo Monomyth through the XLR output, the volume is much lower, compared to if you connect it through the 6.3 mm output jack??? Can you help me with that question please? Thank you so much.
The XLR is a balanced output meant for PA systems, as the input can't be too loud for those or it will clip. The headphone jack is louder for jamming with headphones so you can actually hear it
I just got one of these off Amazon today, and when I plugged it up, there's a constant dial tone sound coming thru as soon as I engage the dirty channel. Everything else is fine.... Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I just got a faulty one?
@@ampthebassplayer actually the headphone jack does get the cab Sim, you just can't turn it off. I tested it, it sounds much different than the 1/4" output
So. The Asian companies have no shame and copied again. All the Lay-out ist darkglass but they simply copy it and earn money. Without spending money formR&D. Nice way to conquer the market. Why is there no international law that punishes this kind of thiefs? Shame on you Bass channel to present such products.
Well, I mean, not that I disagree completely, but essentially you could also argue that most guitar and bass brands are copies of Fender and Gibson. Even some fancy boutique brands have often a 'Jazz' or 'Precision' style bass like Nash, Mayones, Sire etc. The same goes for phones, cars, tvs'...
Yes, I agree. But if you make a very general look all existing car models are copies of Mercedes first car. Or copies of a Kutsche. Be abuse they all have 4 wheels. :-) Fender did not invent the electric instruments. 🎸 others did this before. A Musicman stingray has a body and four strings but looks and sounds different than a precision. That’s not what I mean.
So nice to hear some proper rock bass playing and not just slapping to show off the player's prowess rather than the bass tone. 10/10.
Cough basstheworld cough

I see Joyo going on an all out war with Darkglass and good competion is good for us consumers :)

Maybe I don't have to get the Alpha Omega Ultra after all.😉 Thanks for the demo, guys!👍

Off subject but I must’ve missed the iceman bass review. I’ve seen this in like 3 videos now. It’s awesome looking.
Cool demo, dudes 😎🤘🏻🎸 pretty versatile preamp pedal for the price. I might consider getting one if I ever needed a new preamp pedal.
Got one. Love it!

I wonder if you guys would be able to try the Demonfx stuff as well. They have a b7k and b7k ultra clone.
I have the B7K Ultra clone and I have to say it sounds nice with the amp volume cranked up.
I was curious how it would compare and got a D7K Ultra, but it was bad out of the box. I'm liking the original aesthetic of this Joyo R series.
This pedal is great for the price. I'll get one!

It doesn't sound great on its own, but try it playing along with a song or band, it sounds amazing when you do that
Sometimes, yes... but if you don't drive it too much, it sounds more 'clean' or 'even', at least to me. Very usable as a second tone, especially live.
What's the song your playing @ three minutes?
Joyo is a great brand , they do not copy the look they copy the sound. I choose Darkglass for many reason but i can't deny they are a good company.
Hi ! Cool ! Thanks for the video i'm particularly interested in this pedal ! And what is the first bass you play in the introduction ? :p
That is Josh's Ibanez Iceman!
@@TheBassChannel ok thanks ! Nice bass !
GRUNGY!!
can you review Ibanez SDB. please

This video is perfect example of 51 ways to avoid saying Darkglass or Alpha Omega.
норм преамп, мой бас хорошо раскочегаривает и удобный эквалайзер, на сцене если звукарь тебя не понимает, сам звук нужный себе делаешь
What are the songs youre playing? I want to learn them too
Rob Zombie - Dragula
The Cranberries - Zombie
Soundgarden - Spoonman
Lunar Satan - (unreleased demo)
Jayme Lewis - No Blindfold

Actually I think the DeadBeat Studios channel did a review on the pedal and got the same issue, even had to send it back!
I've had the same issue. Apparently, it's a manufacturing defect where one of the component (resistor, i think) needs to be replaced.
They had a faulty first batches, I heard.
can you use this for non bass guitars?
Nooo! How dare you? 😂
I say try it for science
Hold on, where did you get that Iceman bass!?
Does the cabsim also run through the 1/4 jack?
It only affects the DI. The 1/4" jack and the headphone jack are unaffected by the cab sim.

A Blackscreen. 🤣

Clones have always existed and always will exist. Imagine if you lived in a poor country and a darkglass pedal costs as much as your monthly wages

The entire pedal industry built off of cloning/mods.
I have better things to worry about. DG sure doesn't care about you or me.
