    This is a beautiful scarlet-red 2021 HP 15 Laptop PC, Model Number: 15-dw0083wm
    And today we are going to review its various quirks and features, take it out on the road and at the end we'll give it a Doug score.
    No, just kidding, today we're replacing its screen, don't sue us Doug.
    To replace the screen you'll need a bunch of plastic picks, an exact-o-knife and an industrial hairdryer.
    To begin make sure the laptop appears to be off and disconnect the power cord so it's not in the way.
    This laptop has a couple of Phillips screws on the bottom, they do not need to be removed. Instead use your thumbs to gently separate the plastic frame around the screen. Start from the left edge, unless you live where people don't read from left to right, in which case you can do whatever edge you want first. Go around the perimeter carefully unsnapping the tabs underneath. Take extra care around the webcam area.
    The bottom edge is glued in, which is done to prevent any cleaning liquids from getting into the laptop, because people continue to spray directly on the screen instead of the cleaning cloth. Use an exact-o-knife to cut any glue strands and using moderate effort unglue the bottom edge from the display. The bottom edge is being held in-place with the hinge cover, which is not easily removable. Carefully pull out the bottom edge freeing it from the hinge cover, set the plastic frame aside.
    There are a couple of Phillips screws at the top corners of the display, those also don't need to be removed. In-fact there are no screws that need to be removed in this tutorial at all
    In 2021 the LCDs are held in place with unflavoured bubble gum. You will need to use an industrial hairdryer, also known as a heat-gun to soften the bubble gum. Use your hand to feel the temperature as you evenly warm up the two edges. If you start screaming the temperature is simply too high, and you should try moving the heat-gun further away.
    Once you get bored of waiving the heat-gun around, you can try inserting a plastic pick behind the LCD on the right edge, and do the same on the left edge. This applies pressure on the bubble gum to help with separation. Wave the heat-gun around for a little more. Continue separation by sliding the picks down towards the bottom edge. Keep waiving the heat-gun. Use a third plastic pick to separate the bubble gum from behind the LCD. Continue applying heat to keep the bubble gum pliable.
    Once the separation is achieved place the LCD on the keyboard. Resist the temptation to try the bubble gum, its completely bland and flavourless we promise. You can reuse it on the replacement screen, just straighten it out and leave it be.
    If you have recently cut your nails, use a plastic pick to separate the clear tape securing the video connector. And using both hands slide out the video connector away from the LCD. Put the old screen aside.
    At this point the new screen can be installed. The most important part for the success of the whole replacement process is reconnecting this video connector. Use both hands to slide it straight in, the connector must not be slanted or twisted when plugging it it.
    Lift the new LCD and align it with the bottom edge. Tack it onto the old bubble gum, or if you prefer you can get normal adhesive on our website LaptopScreen.com, but it's also flavourless. Warm up the edges of the display from the back using a heat-gun, and using a microfibre cloth gently massage the edges of the LCD into the back cover. At this point the LCD can be tested. Reconnect the power cable and press the power button.
    If the start-up graphics appears the LCD is connected properly. Shut down the laptop by holding the power button.
    Proceed on replacing the plastic frame, start at the bottom edge. Then clip in the top right corner and button up the right and the top edges. Clip in the left top corner. Button up the left edge. Support the back cover as you clip in the bottom edge. Use a plastic pick to pull the hinge cover over the bottom edge. Wipe the screen, reconnect the power, turn the laptop on, and we're done!

    You really don't need to heat up the back of the screen. That sticky 2 sided tape is designed to be pulled out straight up and it will come out perfectly fine. Just take out all the screws to provide a little play/wiggle room, grab onto the sticky tape at the top with some needle nose pliers and pull straight up. It will come out no problem. Just make sure the replacement screen you get comes with the 2 sided tape OR just use your own.

    Bro, Today dell technician changed my laptop display screen. But the brightness is not as before. Brightness is less in this. Is it common or the screen is fake?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  28 дней назад

      Hey, fake screens are pretty rare, and its hard to call them fake - the 'fakest' screens we've seen were manufactured by a 3rd party company that simply bought decommissioned assembly lines for some pretty ancient legit screens that are pretty crappy quality by today's standards. LCDs are ultra-high-tech items that require the highest level clean-lab set ups.
      There are several options that can usually fit a laptop and some will have better brightness spec and some will have better contrast specs. It's hard to offer a comparison without knowing the exact LCD models for both panels. There is also a bios setting in Dells that can set maximum LCD brightness on AC power and battery power, maybe check that first. Post your laptop model and we can provide the highest brightness LCD available now.

      Currently it appears that there two brightness levels used on this computer: 300 cd/m² and 250 cd/m². It isn't much of a difference, but can be noticeable. Currently we have 7 different LCD models that would fit that computer, best one being B156HAN12.1 - 300 cd/m² , 165Hz, 100% sRGB, 1920 x 1080.

    What's lacking in this video that I think is the most important is that you never mentioned not even one compatible screen replacement model for this laptop.

    I have an client who wants to get his laptop screen repaired. A simple crack in the middle. Do I have to buy a really specific screen for it? Or can I just buy any LCD screen with the correct size? If you could help me with it I would appreciate it!

    I have a problem, but it's not my screen. It's the casing around it.....a drop has separated part of it from the hinge and a couple parts are definitely broken in the left side hinge and with tabs securing it to the hinge....do you have, or know who might have those parts? It's an HP 15-dw3xxx

    Guys never use a heat gun on the laptop dont follow this at all there are black tabs on the top of the screen pull on those slowly to remove the screen and get Double sided tape to replace the adhesive

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  10 месяцев назад

      Guys, always have a heat gun ready, because manufacturers don't always have the tabs easily accessible, or the glue rips if the laptop is older than 2 years. Replacement adhesive is usually included when buying a replacement LCD from us.

      @Laptopscreen you could have used a adhesive remover the heat from the gun will warp the back of the screen cover cuz its plastic no need for a heat gun unless ite metal

      Hi Ash, it's likely that these would work, and there are some upgrades available:
      www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/HP/15S-FQ2000%20SERIES/
      To make sure, please check your LCD model number (from the back of the actual LCD module), that way we can guarantee compatibility.

    Is it safe to do with with the battery still connected?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  3 года назад

      It would be relatively safer with it disconnected. The key part is being careful when disconnecting and re-connecting the cable. Don't let the pins cross and don't let them touch the metal parts of the frame of the jack. We wouldn't recommend it, but there are a few videos showing re-connection done with the laptop powered on.

      It's all of them. For some reason the laptop makers all removed screw tabs and replaced them with adhesive. They are literally the same LCD panels, but the newer ones have no screw mounts. It's not even related to weight or thickness, as either options result in the same thickness + 4 small screws.
