Being Dutch I must admit I pronounced your name differently (rhyming with "wow", which is pretty much my reaction whenever you release a new song anyway 😉). Trouw is originally a Dutch\Afrikaans word that means both "loyalty" and "to marry". But I understand and appreciate that you live in an English speaking country and pronounce it differently. So from now on, I'll make sure my pronounciation will rhyme with all the examples you provided 😀
I also assumed it was pronounced that way. I think it's actually not an English thing because there aren't any words I can think of in English where "ou" is pronounced "oh". (Unless it's followed by gh, like "though".)
@@dbduke88 didn't know that about the pronounciation in Afrikaans! That makes sense though. I believe Elise's father is from Africa so that makes it the only right way to say it 😉
As a South African the pronunciation was obvious to me, especially knowing your family is from here. The fact that you made a pronunciation video is funny. What's hilarious is the execution. I love the mountain scene, that had me laughing out loud.
Whao! Like snow? I don't know about this show. Although, I did grow and to undergo was apropos. You bestow an overflow, so, go, say hello, and know, that we all know.
I believe you have noticed so many people saying your last name incorrectly however I appreciate the fact that you instead of reacting (like some other artists would) you were professional and made an educational video about that including some comedy (my opinion) in the video This is to admire 😜
I'm not exaggerating to make a point; this single video might be the biggest boost to your career ever. Now we can all identify, and relate to, you. Well played.
This is a banger. I REALLY appreciate the fight club clip. Nice. And I pronounced your name like "True. Ow." until now. Thank you for clearing that up.
Being French i have to say that i’ve pronounced your name « Trou » (sounds like « who ») which made me feel kinda unconfortable for some reason, i’m glad you made this to clear the air a bit, now i can recommand your live loops and mashups to my friends without feeling awkward 😂👍
Seeing comments on how they thought it was pronounced, I’m of Dutch heritage and thought it was pronounced as per the video. All I know is that I see Trouw and I watch and listen, and I hit like 👍
That was adorable for absolutely no particular reason whatsoever. It just was. Side note, thanks for the correct pronunciation. I was reading it in my head as "True".
🔥🔥🔥 Hahahah! That’s so funny! (and informative) I said Trouw…rhymes with sow. 🐷🐖🐽Whatta sense of humor!!! You’re going places woman be loud & proud!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I pronounced it right the first time. Thanks though my dear. Oh, and I absolutely love your work. I wish you would do a show in or near St. Louis. Hint, St. Charles, Missouri would be even better. Your best 60 year old fan.
Fun Fact: Elise actually stems from a long and storied line of noble baked potatoes, spanning back centuries. And, as a professional baked potato connoisseur, I can confirm: she is indeed, by far, the best 👌.
Seeing as you're family is from SA, which was once a Dutch colony, one could argue that this pronounciation is incorrect- tho language is a living, ever changing thing, which I appreciate. In Dutch, at any rate, we would say 'Trouw' with the ouw part sounding like 'ow' in now. And the R would be slightly rolling. Like 'Eyebrow'.
@@GavinTheEnchantedHunchback Shut up with your feminist terms ('mansplaining'... gtfo) Gavin. Wesley is completely correct. Trouw is a Dutch word and not pronounced as she is pronouncing it in the video.
@@GavinTheEnchantedHunchback Using that word here, makes no sense. The word hardly ever makes sense anyways, but using it here isn't even the proper way new wave feminists would use it. Anyways, I'm merely stating facts. One day, I'm sure you'll come to terms with it.
That was the best pronunciation example I've ever seen in my life. Wow 😂
Agreed
Not "wow," it's pronounced, "whoa."

@@truthbetold8233 yup, hard 'r' in Dutch as well 😉
Considering I've been introducing your music to friends as Elise "True" for the last 3 years, I found this video extremely educational. Thanks dude. 👍

No, Trouw (truthful) and trouwen (to marry) are Dutch/Flemish words. Same root as trouwens ( besides).

Trouw😀 top musical artist to boot! This short clip and delivery of it as bags of humour in it style written all over it amusing short and sweet😎

Everything she does is pure gold.
I watch all your videos in one night. God dammit. Where were you all this time. Just incredible.

I quite like this excursion into funky beatmentalism, as best advocated by purple penguin's album De Tuned. and Portishead's first album. :)

Definitely not Monday.
I actually never knew how to pronounce your name, when I recommended your music to friends of mine. Now I know 😄

I'll remember this for life now
How did you know that I needed this video??!
