Classic Game Room reviews TEKKEN ADVANCE for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance from Namco released in 2001. Tekken Advance is 2001's portable Tekken-on-the-go for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and is highly regarded for its excellent visuals and faithful Tekken-style gameplay on the small screen. Tekken Advance features one or two-player game play, an arcade mode, survival mode and training mode. Game play and moves are similar to Tekken 2 and Tekken 3. Fighters included are Ying, Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams, Forest Law, Gun Jack, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix, King, Jin Kazama and Heihachi Mishima. Развлечения
Considering the hardware, Namco did a good job with this port.
I am still remember when I just button smashing randomly when playing Jin and incidentally doing one of the longest combo in Tekken Advance. What a good old days.
"don't you have anything better to do than watch classic game room all day?"
nope, not at all
I was literally about to comment that. o:
i literally paused the video to read some comments and liked this, as soon as i unpaused it he said that sentence which is pretty creepy xD
wow XD
I remember when i first saw this "impossible" conversion. It was incredibly well made: a legit Tekken game. Not some strange downsized unplayable crap like Virtua Fighter 2 for Genesis or Virtua Fighter Animation for the GG.
The only problem with this is the button configuration on the GBA. Doing combos using L and R its painful... Tekken needs 4 front buttons!
I like virtua fighter 2D on Genesis and zoom in out gg vf animation 😆
I remember when i buy this game.
I swear i said "OMG LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS" when i played it for first time
Damn... Never knew there was a Tekken on GBA...
Omg the way the game looks is incredible.
It's clear that game studios didnt know how far they could go with GBA.
I had this game on the Game Boy Advance when I was a kid, I used to play it all the time back in 2002. I believe this was the first Tekken game on a handheld game system because all of the previous games were on home consoles.
"I've had! The time of my life!! And I owe it to Classic Game Room!!"
the mascot for classic game room looks like a fun factory mascot
This reminds me of old CGR, where Mark would just sit there struggling to think of anything to say while Dave rambled on.
Good times. Bring back Dave!
I wouldn't think that a Tekken review would have a Night Court reference in the first minute of it, but then again this is Mark and only he can make the most awesome references that the rest of us wouldn't even think of :)
"Don't you have anything better to do than watch Classic Game Room all day?"
No. T~T
I used to love playing this game when I was younger :D
This was the first game I got with my GBA when the original one first came out. Lots of good memories with this one.
There is no problem ... watching classic game room all day every day :))) even in the work office lol
I think you are the first reviewer to say nice things about Tekken Advance.
Played this game a lot back in the day and its main flaw was the not-so-big move pool. Three arcade runs with any character and you'll already have the entire moveset memorized and you can easily perfect your way through the story, you'll have the perfect counter to every move (especially if you've memorized the opponent character's moveset) and remain almost untouchable on survival (you'll only lose if you make simple mistakes that you normally wouldn't make), especially with Hwoarang. It really doesn't require much work to be great at this game which made it boring pretty fast.
You could've complained about cutscenes appearing when King does a wrestling move, if that helps.
Have fun breaking that gba sp! It's out of nintendium, so does the gameboy, and one gameboy unit survived an atomic bomb!
you sir won a hundred internet points for making my day with that comment
Nice comeback :D
Can you guys help me? I'm trying to find a game boy advance game where you control a bee and you can dash with it (it can't fly) and you collect things. Sorry for the poorly description but i played when I was a kid and don't remember much.
I love stealth because its quiet and slow paced. I started loving it when I played Unreal Tournament and began sniping and using the redeemer. I learned to hide out and have fun with being sneaky pants.
You should do an unboxing and review/first impressions of porridge.
Agreed! They did a solid job on this!
This review is hilarious! You gotta love when Mark runs out of things to say.
Best reviews online. Love Classic Game Room better than all the rest. I can rely on what you say, man.
My childhood game and the first GBA game that I ever played
surprisingly this game got me into the tekken series :)
nice review
Hey guys, I'm thinking of ordering a used Gameboy Advanced SP with a copy of Pokemon Ruby that I saw on the internet for a total of 72 europe, should I do it?
I played this game on my GBA Emulator for months before i finally broke down and bought it for my GBA. SOOO AWESOME!
How do you play a fiting game on the game boy you need 4 butons to play and it has 2
Tekken Advance is fantastic! Was shocked at how good it turned out!
I love this series! i have all things Tekken exept this and Tekken 3D Prime edition
Do I have anything better to do than watch CGR all day? Well, I'd like to watch new CGR garage episodes.
I enjoy stealth...if it's done right. My problem is that it's usually not done in a way that I enjoy. The issue is, that in games like Fallout, it almost becomes overpowered. And games that REQUIRE stealth, try too hard, so it gets boring. Dishonored was fun for me, but it could have used more obvious stealth areas. While I enjoyed stealth, there were times where I wasn't sure what platform to go to or something, and ended up landing in middle of people and having to fight my way out.
Hitman Absolution is pretty fun, but it has the same issue. Once you have one TINY mistake, someone spots you, and you're stuck playing a basic action game until everyone in the area's dead. I should be able to get out of something like that by using stealth. If someone becomes suspicious, I should be able to talk my way out of it, or show them some kind of ID or something, to get out of it. I shouldn't be forced to go back to action stuff because I stuck one foot out from behind a corner for a second.
I find that the worst offenders are the ones where you instantly fail if you're spotted.
Also Theif 2 the metal age, i played a demo of that over and over because i loved shooting arrows in the dark.
Night Court is awesome! Judge Harry T. Stone, Bull, and all of those guys. What a great reference.
This game was so much fun!
Wow, for a Game Boy Advance game, it sure looks amazing for it's time. And I can tell from the ending of this video that the frustration of Tekken hasn't left at all.
loved this game, best console to hand held 3D fighter i ever played
I am looking for some gameboy advance games to play on my GCW Zero when I get it since my Caanoo struggles with emulating that system. And at this point carrying all my GBA carts around is get a little cumbersome and I am glad an open handheld can consolidate things a bit. Will have to check into this one.
Mark is like my cool video game playing uncle that I've never had.
I always loved this game
4:00 whats going on with the character shadows,?
Most likely the HD recorder can't pick up the flicker very well.
enjoyed the end bit
I think this is the first video I’ve watched of yours where you didn’t talk about Truxton!! ;)
night court some how I loved that show ,when I was 5
This game defines my childhood, it's sad I lost it. :((
great video
I used to play this and King of Fighters a lot on my advance
There was also Star Fox, Super Mario RPG, F-Zero, and Super Mario Kart, all of those games are technically 3D because on all them you can move on an X, a Y, and a Z axis even though the latter two don't really look 3D.
Mark is just awesome. Nothing more, nothing less
I remember i had this game when i was in 7th grade miss it
I played this and Tag Tournament back when I was in kindergarden.
I like that he followed it up with "I've had the time of my life etc..."
I'm with you. CGR for life :-)
THANKS!!
Love the MGS2 reference :)
aahhh... my first tekken game
Know how old this is? I got a preview of this on VIDEO TAPE in a MAGAZINE when i was a kid!!!! Along with.... BROKEN SWORD!? OLD SKOOOL!!!
I liked this version when it came out, it was perfect for the time.
What about Tekken Prime 3D for 3DS?
Lol @ the Dirty Dancing reference...
Yes Pinobee. Thanks Man. Thanks.
Dirty dancing reference but I recognized it from Community, making it a Community reference for me which is just awesome.
Does it has mullets?
No, I don't have anything better to do then watch CGR all day :-(
I remember this game, I used to play this a lot before I got a Sony system. For what it was, it was pretty enjoyable, but it sucks because since it's limited to two buttons you can't translate your skills from playing it back to Tekken 3. It's not a bad little portable game though.
This or the 3ds version?
I found one for 2 bucks should I buy it
Yes. It's a steal!
DAVID Ford got mine for 5.99 thats a good deal
so, in addition with suggesting locomalito's games i also suggest you play Xtreme express since its such a weird obscure game.
Damn it mark.....your the best!
I Thoroughly Enjoyed This Game
Mark could've complained about the slight framerate hit, but we all expect this from a port to a handheld.
I like to turn the bass up on my stereo and straddle the right speaker while Mark speaks, I'll do anything for a thrill. My GF finds it odd though!
what about Tekken 3D: Prime Edition?
Don't you judge me for watching CGR all day.
This guy is the best VG reviewer on the internet. F*** gameSpot/Trailers/Informer/IGN/G4... CGR all the way.
Saw "TEKKEN ADVANCE" and just had to click straight away :D
Actually Mark. Tekken Advance was done by Eighting. Same guys who did Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Wii), Zatch Bell! Mamodo Battle (GameCube and PS2), Naruto: Clash of Ninja series (GameCube and Wii), and Bloody Roar series (PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, XBOX, and GameCube). They aren't all that well received within the fighting game community though.
Tekken Prime 3D Edition was released for 3DS last year.. way before TTT2 on Wii U.
i have this game. and i have tekken 3d prime edition, too. both very good games
Dude you cracked me up. I just ate some Hash brownies and almost died laughing watching this video.
It looks like Virtua Fighter 2 for Sega Genesis with that somewhat pixelated 2.5D style.
"Don't you have anything better to do than watch Classic Game Room all day?" -Mark "The Mark" Bussler
I like the tag mode
I have this. It's not hard at all but it's fun
True. That's why some things are just better left untouched.
The one thing I try to tell everyone is not to jump at the first thing you see. You need patience. I live in the states though so normally stuff is shipped from somewhere relatively close and is pretty inexpensive. But on a few occasions I've had games shipped over from Japan and it was very cheap. But it might be different for PAL versions (I assume that's what you use). I've never shopped for anything PAL before.
I don't know whether to say 'yay I got that reference' or 'oh god I got that reference' but I did...so there you go
I love night court!
I can't tell if the game is using sprites or polygons
They better make a Tekken for the Vita. The D-pad is the 2nd best for handheld fighters, the first being the Neo Geo pocket.
If you want Tekken on the go, may I suggest Tekken 3 on a PSP? =)
Don't forget about Tekken 3D Prime Edittion!
CGR referencing Dirty Dancing... What a weird day.
Holy shit nostalgia ahhhhhh!!!
Please review Midnight Club 3: DUB edition (REMIX) for PS2/xbox
I do, of course.
