If you enjoyed this game a lot Mark, there's a follow-up on the GBA that was released only in Japan. Simply called "Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED Destiny", it features all 12 units from this game as well as another 12 from the sequel to SEED that it's named after.
Well, this game does actually have some technical depth when you look into it. For example an optimal strike combo with simple controls goes something like:
j.2B>6B*2>5L>2L>6B*3>2L. (The letters represent buttons on the Gameboy) The 5L here is pretty hard to time, although not a 1f link. The first 2L also acts like a Roman cancel from Guilty gear.
I always thought "Gundam Seed" sounded like a giant robot porn spoof...

Man, I really liked the anime when I was a kids I was surprised they even showed it on Toonami. Kinda wish it was a shmup instead of a fighting game.

the game boy advance SP was almost a perfect handheld. i still don't understand why nintendo chose to make the screen front lit, & then rerelease the system w/ a backlit screen, but w/ limited colors.
So the backlit version isn't worth it after all? How much weaker is it?
no, the 2nd gen GBA SP is definetly better than the 1st gen version, but my only problem with it is, the front lit version(1st gen) of the system comes in the colors i actually like(blue/black,red, silver), but the backlit version (2nd gen) only comes in 2 colors that i don't like.
Blake Williams Oh, you meant the actual colors of the console itself, not the display colors, I thought you meant they weakened it. Well I can live with that personally, I've been looking to pick one up.
Why beat up only one robot (mobile suite) when you can beat up tones in dynasty warriors Gundam one of my all-time favorite games
I haven't played this one but I've played a very similar game based on Gundam Seed Destiny also on GBA, it was pretty good! But my favourite Gundam Game will always be Gundam Wing Endless Duel on the Super Famicom!
GWED really have some awesome sprite work! (that and Ninja Warriors Again are the two best looking SNES/SFC games to me). And everyone who talks about the game says it's awesome. I think I will buy a copy of that one.
I also want a copy of NWA, but it's not gonna happen until a little while -_- lol. game is expensive af now.
FinalBaton It is indeed, the graphics in that game are spectacular, they're like arcade-quality graphics, my only nitpick is that they have a lot of strobe effects, and that may be a bit jarring to look at for some people, but it isn't for me... Oh and the music is pretty good too!
I think Gundam Wing Endless Duel might be the best exclusive fighting game of the 16 bit generation, if not then it's way up there...
When I need a Gundam fighter, I usually pop in Battle Assault 2. Burning Gundam, yo.

Federation vs Zaft 2 was pretty good but very outdated mechanically now since the vs games have always iterated on each other.

this plays a lot like the Guilty Gear XX Advance game to me.

I need to get a Gameboy Advance SP, but I need to get the AGS-101 model because of the backlight. The problem is they all look the same online, how will I know for sure which one I'm getting so I'm not ripped off?
If you see a picture of the back the Gameboy SP look at the serial number and you'll see either AGS-101 or AGS-001
Also look up the associated colors with the backlit model. They released it in certain colors. Pearl pink, pearl blue, and graphite were in America not sure elsewhere. Good luck!

I thought all SP were back-lit. I know the normal wide non flip gba aren't back-lit.
never mind I looked it up. they are all back-lit but some models are just brighter than other but Its not a huge difference

No company is going to keep a console in production forever. But the 15+ of the Neo Geo is still the longest and shows that 4 buttons is more than enough for a fighting game. Wait, numerous fighting games.
