    this video is meant to calm the speculation of what causes paintball tanks to explode.
    Putting oil into the fill nipple is what causes paintball tanks to explode.
    If your fill nipple is leaking, take it to the store or field for repair. NEVER put oil into the fill nipple, your tank WILL explode.
    Hope this helps

    Thank you fro this video. I heard at my field that i might need to oil the threads to my tank to prevent from leaks and fro more efficiency and then i heard of someone who did this and died. And i was really cautious about this but now you have cleared up this fro me. Appreciate it. I'm a new player and your videos have helped me a lot to get into the sport. People like you are keeping it alive.

    P.S. I use Silicon oil as it is non-explosive and a good alternative for a high pressure O-ring lube. With out the silicon oil I have to fix my O-rings every month. With the silicon oil they last for years. I got my silicon oil at HOME DEPOT as a spray can full for $7 bucks.

    My most sincere gratitude to you for exposing me to this very real danger. I was having trouble releasing the hose from my air pump and without any consideration, I sprayed some WD 40 around the quick release which was attached to the intake valve (fill nipple). Again, I was trying to disconnect from the tank…what a f****ng idiot I am. Thank the Lord that I ran across your video. I was able to shoot out all the compressed air by attaching the tank to my marker without blowing myself up. That lubricant is petroleum based and Now I understand the potential for a catastrophic accident which I could have easily fallen victim to. Thank you so very much. -SK

    Use a cotton/carbon filter inline with your pump always! This filters out particulates and H2O from the air. (i understand this may not have been the case back in the day when HPA was a new thing to the sport.)
    Any petroleum oil will still diesel at 800psi.... the air rifle community has done extensive testing on this, even with co2 and pump guns. Point here is do your research before messing with stuff you're not an expert on.

      @@johnslugger Hey, I used one of my friends hand pumps to fill up my HPA tank and when I took off the fill hose, silicon oil shot out of the hose and all over my fill nipple. Since then, I have filled my tank up to no more than 1200 psi because people say that it will explode if oil comes in contact with the fill nipple but does this also apply to silicon oil? Is it safe to fill my tank up with more psi or is the tank basically shot now that there is oil inside and I shouldn't try to fill it up again. Any response really helps because its a 90ci 4500 psi carbon fiber ninja tank and it would suck if I had to dispose of it.

  • @gotindrachenhart
    @gotindrachenhart 10 лет назад +9

    Thanks for this video! I've explained this hundreds of times to people. Two things I'd like to note. One is that yes, get the nipple serviced by a store etc, however, it will have to sit for TWENTY FOUR hours before it can be filled again. Because you have to use some blue locktite on it and it has to cure. Also, for people wondering, the tanks are designed to fail along a seam so that they split and dump the air. They don't tend to frag, but some bits DO still fly away and can cause damage.

    • @LeMortso
      @LeMortso 2 года назад

      The local dive shop will NOT take the valve off of a CF PB tank. They told me that locktiting the valve on them voids the warranty and makes removal often fatal to the tank's threads. Do you know how this is handled normally? I have an 8 year old tank that needs tested and certified, but I cannot get the valve off no matter what I do.

    • @gotindrachenhart
      @gotindrachenhart 2 года назад +1

      @@LeMortso well, they're right about the locktite. When I was working at my local proshop we always had issues with regulators that came >from the factory< with red locktite in the threads. When/if we could get the regs off, when putting them back in we never used locktite as it really isn't needed. That's a LOT of pressure pushing on those threads and it's MORE than enough to keep it seated correctly.
      Look around for a regulator removal tool. You might still find them floating around, not sure if anyone's making them or not. If you have a local pro shop available you could also ask them, most will pop the reg off free of charge. It's just a block with a hole in the middle and some slots in the side that slides down over the reg and lets you get a wrench on one end. If that alone still struggles then you're going to be looking at heating up the locktite, and that's a pain in the butt. I'd honestly suggest sending it to a pro shop that can handle the job as having personally done it WITH proper tools....it's still a pain.

      So many better options for an ied under most kitchen sinks (or a same day Amazon delivery) than a compressed air tank and oil… most terrorists (suicide bombers) are going for max collateral damage and fatalities. The most a small Compressed air tank explosion will do aside from -maybe- killing you, is popping the eardrums of the dude next to you and giving them a headache. Unless you wrapped it in wax with shrapnel inside it.

    I have an '08 Ego. The marker shoots great, but if I leave the air on for a while without shooting the marker, it will start leaking a little. It sounds like it is leaking in the frame area. What do you think could be causing this? I'm thinking one of the regs is creeping up in pressure a little. The leak stops when I fire the marker, but will start leaking again if I let it set there for a while,

    @airsoftremix - to my knowledge no ball manufacturer uses oil in the production. The ball is gel, the fill is a combo of food colouring soap and crayon wax. To be on the safe side - when the tank has pressure, the shuttle valve is closed and it is safe to clean it without fear of getting anything inside the tank. Only when there is no pressure in the tank will the valve be free to shake back and forth. so if dirty and has enough pressure to keep the door closed wash it with warm water and dry it

Seems like it might have been useful information to toss in there somewhere, or maybe it was and I missed it?

Would the regulator of a HPA tank stop it from getting too much pressure in the remote line to combust the oil? Just want to know before I end up damaging my remote line or worse, myself.

    Will an HPA tank explode if there is a small dent, or small scratch in the finish? Because I recently bought a ninja dura 68/45 and there is a very small scratch on the coloured coating, it's probably less than a millimeter deep. I just want to be safe, cause im going to play on friday and I need to know if i should return or not.

    what about tank-remote with slide check-tank in stock when running low on air in the stock tank? there is a tiny bit of oil going throught the remote into the tank from slide check, is that ok?
