With RGH3 any ODU would be pointless on the XBOX360. It's as simple as RGH3ing your console, swap to a 2TB SSD instead of the stock HDD, and load your games and you'd have a functional disk drive still.
back in the day, the XK3Y ODE for the 360 still required the DVD key extracted from the console to work with its MITM microcontroller. There’s no way around this security feature for any new proposed ODE. Further, the XK3Y doesn’t bypass the console’s disk region, so ODE games still needed to be of the same region of the console, or be region-less. just RGH3 mod your console, and convert your game ISO into Game On Demand (GOD) format to run off your consoles hard drive. RGH also allows region bypass of GOD games, making ODEs redundant
360 launch was 2005. The 360 is old enough to vote. It is 100% retro by now. I'd love an easy clean ODE install for a 360. RGH3 and xk3y look fine, but they both seem like a lot of work and hoops to jump through. I'd love to do something similar to the gamecube saturn or dreamcast odes. Sd card slot flush in the machine. Boots to a decent UI. Easy and clean.
Would like to see more XBox 360 mods in the mix if they're out there, but I don't want them to crowd out the true retro stuff. Excellent vid as always, keep it up.
I still have my xk3y ODE for the 360. It's pretty cool, but it's sitting in the attic. I prefer my RGH 360. An ODE is unnecessary with existing mods that are far cheaper. Xk3y was a pretty easy install. The "difficult" part was dumping the optical drives key with Jrunner (I think it's Jrunner). Basically, you dump the key, put it on a micro SD, pop that into the xk3y board that sits between the optical drive and motherboard. Then run a FFC outside the console, into a USB dongle, plug that into the USB port on the Xbox, then plug in a USB hard drive. You can select whether to use the optical drive, or have the xk3y emulate the drive using ISOs on the external drive. It worked with Live, so that was really the only draw to it. Nowadays, RGH makes way more sense.
TLDR - No 😆 360 hdds aren't tied to the console, You can swap a 360 hdd into any other 360 without issue. They are locked down in a way that you can't install any old hard drive to a 360 without a bunch of software trickery. This was a way for microsoft to sell you proprietary 360 hdds for a significant mark up. With RGH it removes all those limitations. The $320 price point is absolutely bonkers imo. Xk3y exists already and RGH is all you need. Now with fatxplorer allowing for over 2tb hdds on 360, this ODE seems like just setting money on fire for fun.
I think people are missing the point of this ODE. I don't see any utility for it as a permanent mod to any console. Rather, I see it as a workbench tool. I've had many situations such as modding an OG Xbox where having a ready to go drop in ODE to temporarily stand in for a dead DVD drive and a scratched up copy of splinter cell would have saved me a lot of time.
DVD drive is linked to the 360 not hard drive. The ide emulator is a waste being put into a 360 IMO, rgh is actually not hard and allows for any size HDD to be used in the system after the mod.
So how exactly would this generate the correct key for usage as an ODE without extracting it from either the DVD drive or the system itself? The last I checked a man-in-the-middle attack didn't work. With RGH being possible on most XBOX 360s I don't see it being cost effective to do but more so as a proof of concept. Would like to know how it would work.
Good question. Current ODEs sit between the disc drive and motherboard, so I think they let the disc drive board do the key exchange before taking over - no idea how this could be tackled without being in the middle.
Wow. Big news... xbox 360 mod looks cool. Hope there is one that just plugs into the drive bay without opening it up. Whatever. OG xbox one is it solderless? Cool stuff.
Since the Xbox 360 has a harddrive along with RGH and JTag mods, it would be really pointless for it to have an ODE. A big waste of money if anyone is buying it for something like the 360.
Why do you say the hard drive and the disk drive when those are SYNONYMS or the same thing. Did you mean the HDD and the optical drive or DVD drive? Your grasp of standard tech nomenclature is a bit lacking. You also often say I don't know about some tech spec instead of you doing your due diligence and informing yourself. If your going to talk about it KNOW ABOUT IT!

it can all so emu psx2 dvr meaning you can recover a dead drive
Is not as simple, I have a Xenon on a dashboard that you cannot do anything with it.
@@joselukiYou can easily JTag it.

our ssd supported yet i know in past they did not work
360 ODE will be much appreciated
would love an ODE for 360

It sounds like IDE emulator could be a possible option for the Playstation PSX
Isn’t 360 SATA and not IDE?
thanks. i love these videos.

Can you please make a project stellar 1.6 install/setup video please?🙏
Yes to the 360 ODE
No real benefits for ide emulator if you ask me, sata drives are readily available. Rgh makes dvd obsolete
anybody what my DVD xkey? lol i guess its an antique now... but am i missing something the xbox 360 is sata, not IDE
Wow.

Most ill pay for most mods is like $120 (maybe a lil more depending on the mod) but no not $320 can buy a brand new console for that price.

$320 ODE for a system that is known to fail, no thanks.
No
