COD World at War had a lot more meaning to it. They show the emotion on both sides of the conflict, like when you watched a marine get executed in Japan, and when a surrendering group of Nazis came out and were gunned down by the Russians. WWII was just "here's a medpack Daniels."

The best part was when you just wounded them , left without legs ,or an arm or exposed chest but they were still alive and acting injured , some commiting a martidone(throwing one last grenade ) ,some using their handgun on their last ditched defense , or just strugling to breath ,move or standing there in shock . Those were quality mechanics .

As much as I love WAW, I felt that the gore was too easily activated; I mean, a .30 cal machine gun can do some damage, but ripping open a man's ribcage? Not likely. Besides, I don't think the gore is half bad in WW2.
WaW was much more gritty & grounded. I loved the campaign because it felt like an actual WW2 battle. COD:WW2 feels like a kids arcade shooter, it had a lot of potential. They need to flush out the SJWs & bring back the old devs.

COD WaW: Dismemberment, brutal torture, enemies begging for mercy, playing dead and crawling through carnage of your own guys, executions can be interfered to be less brutal or you can watch in shock what's about to happen, friendly fire. WaW made you feel like you were witnessing the real war. And that was the goal. They showed lots of respect with the historical depictions they illustrated.

The war crime one pisses me off the most. World at War didn't glorify world war II it showed it in its true light, surrendering didn't mean shit and having your life spared was surely a very rare occurrence. To not even have the option to kill surrendering enemies is a complete joke. At the end of the day world war II was merciless, gritty, gorey and brutal and sledgehammer have failed miserably at portraying that (I say they have 'failed', but that implies they were attempting to portray war in this light in the first place. In reality, they most likely made the conscious decision to keep it clean and tidy and child friendly on purpose. That's the sad reality of where Call of Duty is going).

You have that spot on. I think that was intentional from Treyarch to make you think that you're the victims and through the campaign slowly bring you to the realization that there are no good guys in war. If it is then it's one of the greatest, smartest moves in Call of Duty history. What I'd do to have Call of Duty create another masterpiece like this. In the WWII campaign there's more focus on the drama aspect rather than any authenticity (with all the overblown, over the top, 'near miss' bullshit such as the mission where your jeep gets caught on the train track). I'd love to see a remaster of this game.

They should but they will never remaster it. If they do remaster it another 9 years must pass so we can get a new WWII game. Unless treyarch with the release of maybe the new BO remasters WaW and hopefully they wont bundle it with their new game (Infinite Warfare + MWR). If they do remaster it (without changing any of the current features with only changes on the graphics and keeping the console which is fun to use in singleplayer) then I would buy it instantly and anyone should buy it instantly if they've been playing it since its release. Ever since it came out my father bought it (I remember he used to teach me how to play) and after 5 months he got bored of it and he gave it to me. I started playing and I got obsessed with it (and with all WWII games activision has made). Still not a chance of remastering it :(.
In more ways than just this. 2008 era RUclips was more innocent and less corporate and money driven. There was less SJWs and feminists, and especially "offending" anyone. In COD WW2, you’re expected to perform “heroic actions” like saving wounded soldiers, in order to get bonus points at the end of each level. In COD WAW, you’re just expected to not commit war crimes like killing wounded or surrendering soldiers, but if you do all you get is a verbal slap on the wrist near the end of the game. Only one of those truly captures the reality and widespread experience of war.
Tbh its disappointing how CoD WW2 doesn't let you shoot prisoners or a surrendering enemy or in other words, a war crime, its like the game is trying to depict that the allies were the good guys and the axis were the bad guys but in reality there is no such thing who is good and who is bad, only winners. CoD WaW did really an amazing job for showing how brutal ww2 was, lets you commit war crimes, and more amazing enough, they use actual ww2 footage as well.

One of the things about WAW I loved was how unflinching the violence was. Up to that point most WW2 games were t-rated so when I saw that I could blow limbs and heads off in detail I was like “holy shit.” Just added a whole new level of grittiness to WW2 I’d not seen in video games yet

World at War has great detail in the gore as well with all the muscles, bones, and charred flesh. In WW2 it’s just lazy and inconsistent.

The war crime one pisses me off the most. World at War didn't glorify world war II it showed it in its true light, surrendering didn't mean shit and having your life spared was surely a very rare occurrence. To not even have the option to kill surrendering enemies is a complete joke. At the end of the day world war II was merciless, gritty, gorey and brutal and sledgehammer have failed miserably at portraying that (I say they have 'failed', but that implies they were attempting to portray war in this light in the first place. In reality, they most likely made the conscious decision to keep it clean and tidy and child friendly on purpose. That's the sad reality of where Call of Duty is going).

I think that was intentional from Treyarch to make you think that you're the victims and through the campaign slowly bring you to the realization that there are no good guys in war. If it is then it's one of the greatest, smartest moves in Call of Duty history. What I'd do to have Call of Duty create another masterpiece like this. In the WWII campaign there's more focus on the drama aspect rather than any authenticity (with all the overblown, over the top, 'near miss' bullshit such as the mission where your jeep gets caught on the train track). I'd love to see a remaster of this game.
steve rainingagain well to be fair to ww2 executing prisoners wasn't really common amongst allied forces. Not saying that it didn't happen but in sure shooting a random German prisoner wasn't really encouraged. For the soviets though they didn't give a fuck so it makes more sense in waw.

They should but they will never remaster it. If they do remaster it another 9 years must pass so we can get a new WWII game. Unless treyarch with the release of maybe the new BO remasters WaW and hopefully they wont bundle it with their new game (Infinite Warfare + MWR). If they do remaster it (without changing any of the current features with only changes on the graphics and keeping the console which is fun to use in singleplayer) then I would buy it instantly and anyone should buy it instantly if they've been playing it since its release. Ever since it came out my father bought it (I remember he used to teach me how to play) and after 5 months he got bored of it and he gave it to me. I started playing and I got obsessed with it (and with all WWII games activision has made). Still not a chance of remastering it :(.

In COD WAW, you’re just expected to not commit war crimes like killing wounded or surrendering soldiers, but if you do all you get is a verbal slap on the wrist near the end of the game.
Only one of those truly captures the reality and widespread experience of war.

Tbh its disappointing how CoD WW2 doesn't let you shoot prisoners or a surrendering enemy or in other words, a war crime, its like the game is trying to depict that the allies were the good guys and the axis were the bad guys but in reality there is no such thing who is good and who is bad, only winners. CoD WaW did really an amazing job for showing how brutal ww2 was, lets you commit war crimes, and more amazing enough, they use actual ww2 footage as well.

One of the things about WAW I loved was how unflinching the violence was.
Up to that point most WW2 games were t-rated so when I saw that I could blow limbs and heads off in detail I was like “holy shit.” Just added a whole new level of grittiness to WW2 I’d not seen in video games yet
