The idea of carrying the fire to your next camp is one of the most commonly used methods in history. Usually not by torches, but by carrying the embers. Starting fires is hard, and it wasn't easier hundreds of years ago. If you have the embers, it's a lot easier, since getting that first spark is the hardest part.
Very much enjoying this. Thank you Zisteau. Edit: Just finished the video. I love the way the video calmly instructs viewers that the game is not intimidating while simultaneously existing as the first 30 minute video in a series of such videos with a list of just 88 items essential to your survival. And, by the way, you have to find them all while avoiding starving/insane wolves, rabid bears, and rutting moose that will all kill on site...and you need intimate map and location knowledge. Oh, and even if you avoid the animals you have to find the stuff or you're dead in a week. But don't be intimidated! I love this game.
hey just wanted to pop in. I started watching you back when you were doing vechs uhc and the whole minecrack server. I grew up and drifted away. i just wanted to say thanks, for being such a big part of me growing up. Its nice to see your still at it. god bless Z
Great video, thanks a lot. It's been said a lot about maps and where to go but it's also worth mentioning about timing your trips. World temperatures are mildest from afternoon till very late evening so early morning hike is not the best option. Also Ravine as great as it sounds might turn into a death trap early game with very low temperatures at night or no ability to climb back the rope due to exhaustion. Best of luck to all the beginner players, have fun and stay safe.
Amazing survival guide 👍 I already started at the Desolation Point but I didn't find no matches so I was not able to get out from this region using the mine. Ash Canyon is really hard to start and I don't even know how I got out of there in one of my run 😅
If you're on Interloper there is always one box in Hibernia, 3 possible places - the shelves on the left by the window when you go through the upper door, on the desk in the room on the right or at the very end of the shelves on the right when you go into the room with the beds. Low % chance of a box in the lighthouse on one of the chest of drawers and in the car nearest the church.
I think the latest patch will destroy/burn tea's/coffee when you place them outside the fire for a long time. At lest that is what is happening in my last play through updated yesterday
There is a trick where you can move them once you have set them down by the fire and they will not burn. I have seen other do it but honestly still very careful about this after losing a reshi and birch bark to the new burning mechanic.
by the way, if u r kinda new to this game and dont know about maps much, i really dont recommend for you to play interloper. just try to survive and learn the maps on lower diffs before getting into interloper. trying to survive in interloper without map knowledge is a nightmare imo. once you started learning where is the nearest warm spot or the places that the birch and maple saplings are usually spawn, it will be much easier for you to survive. that way you can actually enjoy the diffuculty of surviving.
6:20 "if you happen to spawn into HRV or AC... good luck i guess!" LMAO recently started playing interloper and my very first spawn was HRV. rough. i lasted a day before the cold got me. run 2 3 4 were all AC spawns, 2 and 3 i ended up freezing to death before i could find shelter and run 4 i made it into TWM where i got eaten by a wolf. run 5 i got a DP spawn and things were actually going really well until i ran into a wolf hiding behind a rock in MV on day 12. my current run, run 6, is also going quite well, had a FM spawn, looted the entirety of MV, still have no matches but a mag lens, and i'm currently making my way through CH towards the forge in DP, hoping to maybe find some matches on the way. oh, and shoes. thats right... i have no shoes. oh well, fingers crossed i guess. or i just get eaten in the town. i hate that place.
‘If you find Accelerant this will give you an automatic 100% chance of starting a fire.’ I’ve been playing this game since December 2020, and it never fails to surprise. I’ve had Accelerant FAIL 3/4 of the way through starting a fire (could be from using reclaimed wood, LOL but was rage inducing) Got Cabin fever inside trapper’s, however didn’t have enough materials to sleep outside and clothing not good enough ATM to sleep fireless in a cave, so I had to stay inside the cabin and wait it out.. IMMEDIATELY after the message Healed Cabin Fever, came Affliction: Cabin Fever. I promptly raged and deleted the game and started a new one LOL. Last but not least: getting Cabin Fever in the Mountaineers Hut. I’ll repeat that in case no one saw it: CABIN FEVER IN MOUTAINEERS HUT. All the same; as much as this game causes grief; it is still AMAZING and no amount of grief will turn me off playing it over and over-it’s always fresh and new. Currently on interloper run day 18; based at camp office. Bow made. Great video dude and good hunting everyone!👍🏻 PS: in this run I’ve found myself in the same discussion TWICE LOL: spawned in DP and had to use a flare to start my first fire (did so because I couldn’t find the matches in Cannery where they usually spawn. Found them right after LOL, and 8 days later, I’m at the outpost in ML, with just a flare to start a fire LOL
No matter how much I practice, I never can quite get the hang of the bow and arrow. I eventually found the sweet spot for chucking rocks at rabbits, but bow... ... Course that's complicated by if I DO get a hit in, the animal runs off with the arrow and it's typically gone forever as I can't even seem to keep up with a limping wounded critter.
I will say that I'm surprised that the old spence homestead is still the best place to do forge work, with so many more options added to the game as it's progressed. This only tells me that I don't know enough about the game to understand why.
as of Hotfix 1.94 "[Gameplay] Fixed an issue where liquids would not become “Burnt Dry”, when being cooked for too long." So you might have to move the hot tea away from the fire once per hour to prevent burnt dry...
Really made me want to play the game. Do you have a begginners-oriented tutorial series to recommend? Or can you start the game blindly in the easiest gamemode?
My main problem is that every cabin or building I enter is so dark I can't see anything even in broad daylight which means I can't find matches unless they're laying on a shelf that is in view of the sunlight inside the cabin
HIII Do you think you will ever playing Terraria 1.4 with Etho or are you ever planning on it. The other two series were my favorite videos on all of youtube!
An update, The Ravine does not have the flare pistol anymore. Since the loot update it has been removed from The Ravine. It can be found elsewhere. I wasted a day climbing down, then wasted a stim to climb out. Worst trip ever 0/10.
I haven't even played this game and don't plan to do so in the future, but Z's tutorials are so high quality I still watched it completely
Same! Even thougth it is high level tutorial, we still learned a lot of stuff useful for starting.
Hundred percent the same, though I admit this game does look really good.
@@magnus0017 its sooooo good
Same here, Z's approach to Tutorials is so great, it's everything i'd hope to find if i was looking for a tutorial on this subject.
fuckin same
Even though I am not in need of a guide, I am here for Long Dark content from Zisteau any day!

I love this game.
I love this game, no other game has given me such a sense of adventure and survival by just traveling around the world.
Haven't watched a zisteau video since the sky lense but this caught my eye for some reason. glad to see you still at it!
oh man, I remember your first TLD video series. I'm glad to see you making videos on it again.
I JUST, started playing TLD again. Love it. Love you.
Great video Z. I learned how to play TLD watching your streams. This video series is, not surprisingly, a great introduction to Loper!

I don't even play this game, but I love Z's videos and am here for anything!
Liking and commenting for maximum RUclips engagement stat
I remember Z's early days of streaming the long dark where we would resub as a wolf was approaching him to make him jump
im almost certain this is still happening lol
Thanks a lot! Best Interloper guide i have seen so far!

I had the game on my library but needed a small nudge to play it, thanks Z i'll play it this week then!
Even though I'm not playing this game, it's always interesting to watch you playing it. So, as always, here is your like, mister dude. :)
Weak ice might make you teleport into minecraft
superbly helpful video.
Dog food is behind lower box near forge not inside :)
Well done Tutorial!
Its an excellent guide and to play interloper its a good idea to play stalker first
It hurts my soul that this video doesn’t have more views after 2 weeks. Algorithm, hear my comment recommend! By my input, obey!
He’s alive!!!!
I’ve been waiting for somebody I like to play this game. Let’s go!
he already have quite a few videos on this game on the channel, highly recommend checking them out as well.
@@M0torsagmannen, Thanks!

I feel like this connects to Zisteau Plays Minecraft; when I saw "Interloper" that rang a bell.
THANK YOU!

Sort of related temperature-wise: will you do a Subnautica:Below Zero series? Because I'm not watching anything else if you are.
You have a really good voice. You should make more content.

Interloper can be pretty forgiving and downright easy once you really commit to putting it down and go play something else.

Hey Zisteau!
Have you seen Dyson Sphere Program? It would be amazing if you did a series on that game!
Friend: Which college are you going to?
Me: I got into Loper school.

Chapter one of story mode is more or less a tutorial. After that you can try voyager on sandbox and then go from there.
My main problem is that every cabin or building I enter is so dark I can't see anything even in broad daylight which means I can't find matches unless they're laying on a shelf that is in view of the sunlight inside the cabin
Don't lie to me Zed, we all know you started fires with the flare gun.
HIII Do you think you will ever playing Terraria 1.4 with Etho or are you ever planning on it. The other two series were my favorite videos on all of youtube!
Hi can you make a guide how to go from mysterie lake to the new map where i can make amo
Hey @Zisteau can you do a series on Factorio modded with space exploration. :)
Bro can you this video again. I just spawned in black rock.
You should do a playthrough of vechs new map Dalania : o

Welcome backa to the minecr.... Wait no, the long dark
Can you change the name of the title it's more like a whole guide to interloper rather than just for the Forging part.
Interloper! ZPM anyone?
Steep Snow Slope! How many takes did that sentence take? Lol Great video!
did they already finish the main story? i was really into this game a few years back, wouldnt mind trying interlooper with these advices
hallo
This game was released in 2014 and you're making a 35min video in 2021 of how to make a f***ing bow?
oh my god hes alive... HES ALIVE!!!
