Sorry for the delay, was visiting family for the holidays and then got sick with the flu for 3 weeks. Not fun. If you notice my voice sounds off in the latter half of the video, that's why.
Hope you're feeling well! I just got caught up with the other videos after taking a break a year or so ago and I forgot how entertaining these are. You're awesome. Also a great help for procrastinating studying lol
was eagerly awaiting the continuination ! Hope you're better now. Also, fun to see that you use the wagon for your labs. Did you know of it from DoshDoshington or was it a trick that you knew of already ?
delay? never, the long periods between videos make them that much more special. you are a beast much like giant squid: mysterious, majestic, powerful and truly terrifying. alien to us meer mortals, and so rarely sighted as to be thought as myth to some. a modern legend, certainly. i can say this because i've been watching for uhh...UHH?? TEN YEARS? i suppose life in the abyss passes by like that...
Honestly that cargo wagon solution for the research section was inspired. A perfect example of why I really appreciate your approach to problem solving. A simple solution that works is always going to be preferable to a complicated solution that works.
Ah that trick with the cargo wagons. Ya I've seen DoshDoshington "How Hard is it to Beat Factorio with NO BELTS and NO BOTS?" video I know of that power. Always funny to see some cursed answers that don't break the rules but rules lawyer to an extrema degree.
This setup is crazy complicated and cool, and one of the neat things is that it's completely different from how I ended up doing it, mostly because I made a beeline straight to spaceships and then just had them shuttling things up and down from space, meaning no cargo rockets whatsoever.
@@AkiSan0 No, actual spaceships pretty much as soon as I could. They take a ton of fuel if you're landing on Nauvis, but I had outposts on plenty of other planets where the resources could be gathered with less onerous fuel costs, and eventually had a whole fleet of them supplying the space base, at least until I had space elevators. The good part about the fleet-of-ships approach is that you can have them dock pretty much anywhere in the factory, as though they were trains delivering cargo, and with some circuit conditions it's also possible (if a hassle) to have a spaceship deliver to more than one place.
@@alexanderwales7870 I much prefer a mixed content spaceship to a mixed content rocket. "logisitically", it is easier to manage. However, single item I still prefer rockets because the cost gets "very low" sooner than later.
The amount of effort that goes into editing is just amazing. You've been impressing me with your builds since the early Mindcrack days. Never change your core Zisteau.
Great to see these episodes when they come out! I love how you just completely avoided the whole mechanic of recycling scrap back into material packs by means of sheer brute force and scale. Then again after seeing your approach to nuclear power, I shouldn't be surprised at all. It is the Zisteau way! Cheers, and looking forward to the next one!
I can't even begin to estimate how many dozens of hours of planning, design and execution just got condensed down into a bite-size 33 minutes. Bra-fuckin'-vo
Honestly I'd wait a bit. In DoshDoshingtons final video about SE the developer laid out what the plan is going forward and seems like there are pretty big changes coming in the future..
@@kaschmir3 It doesn't help that it's also my first overhaul mod. I've decided to try seablock first, and maybe a few other mods before returning to it. Cheers!
@@jacksonstarbringer7972 I think Seablock is a lot more complex than SE. Krastorio2 + Space Exploration are IMO the most approachable overhauls. They don't introduce huge complexity in intermediates + byproducts like Bob's, Angel's, Seablock do. K2 is often called "vanilla plus". SE has a few hurdles (setting up cargo rockets, delivery cannons for the first time; your first orbit base + first resource outpost) but once you do each of those once it's a lot easier to do it the second time. People think of SE as super hard, but really it's just super long. It's really well-balanced, but a ton of content. P.S. Get the Recipe Book + Factory Planner mods if you don't have them - they're essential for any overhaul mods. + Rate Calculator - not essential but really helpful.
dang! I can see why its taking so long between uploads, that's some clean looking production lines you've got going on looks a million times better than my space platform did xD awesome work dude, keep it up
I love the use of train cars in your research area. I do something similar with a hub where I'm able to have assemblers pull from a bus of 9 belts / 18 items that move through them. That design is super useful for mods like this where I'm uncertain of what I need for crafting and don't yet have access to logistics bots.
I like how you sent the landfill that's never going to get used off somewhere. I'm sure that somewhere had a name, but I've forgotten it. Ah yes, it was "The Alamo".
How does he design his blueprints before before telling the robots to build? is there a way to make blueprints in game without copypasting things i already made?
Oh dear lord you're fully speed-beaconing Particle Accelerators. Personally I would recommend using enough Efficiency modules to drop their energy consumption to more reasonable levels. You currently need a Gigawatt for every single Accelerator. Building that part slightly larger but with efficiency modules will easily drop the energy consumption of your spacebase by 80-90%. Then again, that problem can also be solved by a bunch more solar panels.
thats what he does... in most modpacks e-modules drop off fast. in "skyblock" maps where you have practically unlimited space + power in factorio doesnt drop off - tldr: just spam solar and you're done. esp. since you can then use productivity and speed as a bonus.
@@AkiSan0 It is still a question of whether you'd rather build 10 more Accelerators or 3000 extra Solar panels. Space Exploration's Efficiency modules scale really quickly, I put only 4 efficiency module 6's into the beacons and the power consumption was down to roughly the machines base consumption. Yes you can just build more power, but in this case that takes up significantly more space (Which is infinite), but also resources. I suppose it doesn't matter much in the end. Maybe I just don't like looking at a machine consuming more than a GW on it's own.
You need to remember that he plays this game at "scale" meaning he produces SO much support/intermediate products that burning up 10GW here or there doesn't phase him at all. I mean, look at his "trash area"....it looks like it could hold around 100k stacks of landfill.
Please, can you blend in the gameplaytime? There are be Mods for this or can you write it in the description or blend in the screen at the video beginning/end or some else? Yeah I got real confused at one point when assemblers were making a liquid--that recipe is in the chemical plant building now.
