You brought up all alot of The same reasons to why i absolutely adore this game, thank you
If u liked this game alot, you surely will enjoy S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly, it's not like common survival games, it has crafting but the method is different for any i ever saw
Habe you tried the storyline if not it is amazing
Wow, i didn't know that an update was coming december, i just saw the game on sale for switch and was like "sure i have 50 bucks"
Have you played 7 Days to Die? #7DaysToDie
Fun fact: More people die to moose attacks in Canada every year than bears and wolves combined. The reason moose are so dangerous is that bull moose in particular during mating season are extremely territorial and not afraid of humans at all. Bears and wolves would much rather avoid you and will usually only attack a human if they feel threatened.
If I was a moose i also wouldn't be afraid of humans
Moose aren't typically aggressive towards people, but if you ever see one up close, you probably won't want to stick around. You're right that they aren't afraid of people, and they are just massive, like 7 feet tall at the shoulders and well over 1,000 pounds, not to mention antlers on the bulls that weigh over 50lbs and are 5-6 feet wide. They are basically tanks, and it's difficult not to feel incredibly small in comparison.
That said, being stuck outside in -30° weather when you're not prepared for it, is far more terrifying, and a bad enough blizzard in rural areas can basically make you instantly lost and, unable to see more than a few feet away from you.
I think the worst real life thing in the game though, is when you're walking on ice and you hear it cracking under your feet.
I know some guys who had that happen to them while snowmobiling, and went right through the ice. They were lucky and managed to get out of the water, and find a cabin they were able to break into for shelter. They lost all their supplies with the snowmobile though, and very nearly froze to death. They had already reached paradoxical undressing by the time they were found and rescued.
ah yes, a "fun" fact
and the ingame reason as to why they fuck you up is because they provide the best reward out of any animal in the game (a bag that increases your carry weight while only taking up an accesory slot for just 1 moose pelt)
they're also fucking massive
Being caught out in a blizzard while starving desperately trying to find shelter with wolves howling in the distance not knowing exactly where they are was more frightening than any horror game I've ever played
The Long Dark is a game where you have to debate every single step you take. The struggle of thinking “Should I stop in this small car and sleep during the storm and possibly freeze, or should I try to make it around this bend in the road and see if there is a cabin? If there isn’t a cabin or any shelter I won’t have time to walk back to the car an freeze in the cold.”
Fun fact about moose, from someone who has spent time in Northern Canada and Alaska. I've encountered black bears, wolves and Grizzlies, but nothing is scarier than a moose at night. The main reason: moose are stubborn to the point of death. If a moose decides it wants to kill you, it's GOING to kill you. Or die trying. Most carnivores will give up if they feel like you're too much effort. Not so much with moose.
Black bears are harmless tho. As long as they don't have cubs, they're completely harmless.
I have a vision of you running from a moose screaming in a high pitch voice 😂
@@that_guy_8177 you clearly haven’t been around black bears.
Moose don’t play 💀
@@clownworld4655 yes I have lol. Like I said 8 months ago, if they don't have cubs, their completely harmless. Mountain cats and grizzlies are whats dangerous.
The vibe of The Long Dark really reminded me of the last two episodes of the Telltale's The Walking Dead season 2, just complete unending snow, absolute bleakness and an extreme struggle for survival, I think that's why I got into the game so much.
Has the old bear destroyed your sweater yet? Always have some summit sodas crowding your ice box ;-)
i absolutely love telltale's walking dead game series, really tempted to pick up this game now lol
weezer
The whole game really feels familiar to telltales the walking dead. The struggle to survive, the artistic style of the game and the music reminds me a lot of s1 of the walking dead
@@hello1868game sucks.
To anyone who's done it, hunting a bear in this game is the most stressful thing in a video game.
I even prefer a moose than a bear, Its stressfull but you can make very good things from the skin like the bedroll
Lmao,I just shot a bullet and him and if he Doesn't die Well I wait a Lot of time until it bleeds out(unless there isn't a car right by My side)
@@TheArgentinianStealer thats the thing, its hard to outrun a bear
Moose Is worse imo since they dont bleed out. And The broken ribs Are terrifying.
Unless you are one of those who knows how to use a car.
I have so many memorable moments from this game. It's amazing how it manages to make you feel invincible one minute, and minutes from dying in the next. I remember my first bear encounter. I was walking in a hilly forest I hadn't explored before and got mauled by a wolf pack. 3 wolves in total all attacked me one after the other. I had a rifle with me, but because of the hills I couldn't see the wolves in time so it was useless for defense. Once I'd scared them off my health was at 15 %. I pushed forward, rifle in hand and when I walked over the next hill I saw a frickin bear just a few metres in front of me. Knowing I was most likely screwed, I took aim and managed to score a lucky critical hit on the bear, killing it instantly (for those who don't know, bears can take several hits to kill). I spent the next couple of days cooking the meat from the bear in its cave.
Nice. This game really is a story generator. I played it a bit too much to the point where it invaded my dreams, and had an ongoing dream that I opened a barber shop for bears in the Canadian wilderness, so for sanity's sake I put it down for a while. But those moments of triumph in the face of despair in the game such as you describe... yeah, that's what keeps me coming back.
@@PeterEvansPeteTakesPictures yeah I've noticed that it's often my own cockiness that gets me. I think that just because I have good clothes and a rifle I'm good. But then I get mauled by a surprise attack and realize I forgot to bring a bandage... My biggest scare was coming back from 2% condition on day 94 when I tried to get the 100 days survived achievement. I got 2 bleeding wounds but only had one bandage and no cloth. Used an emergency stim, tore up my hat and crafted the bandage and went to sleep right before dying. I've never dreamt about having a bear barber shop though :p
I thought this comment sounded familiar. Then I realized I also read something similar on Lonelywolf's video. It's nice to see an avid TLD player here even a year later. I hope you still enjoy the game as much as you did back then!
I've had a couple close calls myself in this game. Once, during the first times I played this game, I was attacked by a wolf near my current base at the time at Pleasant Valley. Nearly killed me, had like 5% hp left, and in the middle of a blizzard at night of all times! after fighting the wolf off, i took a potshot at it to make sure it ran as far as possible before limping back to my base to recover. next couple days after recovering i left to go fish, found the wolf dead on the ice of the lake. I like to think that I somehow managed to shoot it.
Other time I was caught in a blizzard with little to no supplies to make a fire while on my way to the abandoned town. bunkered in a trolley, and with no energy left I had to scavenge for sticks to make a fire. was convinced that I was gonna die from hypothermia. Needless to say, I survived and managed to find an abandoned workshop to hold up in and recover continuing my journey.
@@AM-gv9db that is exactly how I died on day thirty I got so cocky I was one bandage short while on 5 health, I didn't have enough time to make another one.
Don’t diss moose, lol. They’re basically half bear/half dear and as immovable as a tree. They’re one of nature’s subtle hardasses and they aren’t to be trifled with.
The fact that they’re so powerful in this game is strong evidence that the designers are actually familiar with Canadian wildlife.
but in game, they deal no damage and make you unable to sprint for 10+ days
Well yea, Hinterland is based in Canada and made up of mostly Canadians.
Moose are scary as fuck in Canada
They can get up to 1100lbs or bigger.
@@SlightSmile tell that to my one character the first day moose were added. got stomped twice in the chest by a moose and died of blood loss immediately. avoid them like the plague now.
Now that the game is free on epic games everyone will get to enjoy it.

What’s the goal
After you’ve looted all regions then what?
@@FrooNash Well that's exactly it. What are you gonna do if you were to loot all regions fully, as unlikely as that is. Can you live entirely off of the land? The goal is to survive, but inevitably you will fail, so it's a challenge to see how far you can go.
The guy that made this game lived in my small town on the island of Vancouver

I bought this yesterday. Been looking for some insight. Amazing you dropped a video on it today! It's tough. I'll stick with it.
Lonelywolf does a great intro series too if you're interested =]
myusualme also does some good long dark videos and has taught me a lot. I started on voyageur and now on interloper surviving up to 50 odd days at a time so far. It's hard but you learn each run through
Try starting out in mystery lake. There are power lines and train tracks that can help guide you in snowstorms and fog. Don't spoil it by looking up maps. Most of the fun comes from discovery. Also, pay close attention to birds. They can tell you A LOT of things. Rely on your senses. Stop and listen for predators, prey and birds to warn you. Look out for landmarks to keep your bearings as you have no compass or indication on the map as to where you are aside from using charcoal in clear weather. Stick to the easiest, level paths at first as they lead to structures more often. And be careful what you eat, the color indicates your chances of getting sick. Also, the clothing you wear: the two slots indicate inside and outside layers. inside layers(closer to character) only matter in terms of warmth degrees while outside layers (further from character) offer damage protection, wind protection and warmth along with wetness resistance. Try not to hoard either, it WILL tire you out quicker and slow you down. I could go on forever lol. I'm on day like 200 on my second voyager run. I love this game
@@wretched17 watching Hadrian’s video series got me to 500 days. His advice gave me the foresight and intro into the mechanics that you really need to enjoy the game fully.
@@wretched17 I can second that, watched Lonely's full how to series and continued watching his LPs after that.
What I always loved about this game is that it is actually realistic and about survival It's not like most other survival games when you build 5 meter walls with a snap of a button or carry 6 tons of wood in your back pocket in other survival games you don't worry about survival after like 6 hours or so
The reason why I love this game is because of the several themes woven in the world and the gameplay. You went from buying whatever you need at a shop to scavenging for food and migrating to lands where you can find better prey, like the nomadic primitive cavemen who didn't even have the comfort of farming. All of it while surrounded by the bones of the Old World, taking what those who came before you had left to be swallowed by the pass of ages.
Our negligence and greed took us down from where we were, and nature reminded us about where we came from. How small we are without our priced technology, how insignificant we are on our own, how hopeless we become when all that awaits us after fighting a constant battle is The Long Dark.
Farming, or any manual labour all your life, leads to all sorts of problems like arthritis and displced hips. Hunter gatherers actually had it easier in many ways than the first people of the agricultural revolution. They had wheat on demand sure, but if that wheat didn't come in they were screwed. We didn't domesticate crops, they domesticated us lol
Beautiful 👏
Following this game and playing on and off for 2-3+ years i can say this game has honestly changed my life. The memories i have just walking through the snow, just thinking and alone with my thoughts listening to soft music on spotify whilst playing has truly been an unforgettable experience that i cant say i have felt in other survival games.
How much did your lift improve after playing the game?

I remember playing in early access when the only map was Mystery Lake the mechanics were in their infancy, and even then you could tell it was something really special
I'm so glad this game is getting more recognition! It really deserves it!
Ah yes, the Quonset Garage. Usually has wolves, frequently has bears, and if you really luck out, the moose hangs out there too. And they’ve each taken a number and wait for you to emerge...
The Long Dark video on 2020?
Now this is epic.
The Long Dark in 2020? Now this is free in epic.
The name of the game for The Long Dark is immersion. I feel the sound design is the game's strong suit when it comes to developing the atmosphere. The wind sweeping by as you walk through the snow or the sound of a burning flare lighting up a dark room is what really drives the immersion home.
Straight up. Playing this game with headphones on is a fantastic experience and you can totally feel that winter chill slowly start to roll up your back as you play.
Regarding the story, The Long Dark lets you write your own. You go out, check your surroundings, make a plan. For example, you are running out of bullets, and want to make yourself a bow & arrows. There seems to be a forge past that railway tunnel. Go out and explore, use the forge to make your own arrows. Thats a story/mission, which is much more effective IMHO.
Wolf don't spawn in random areas, they have designated "spawn zones". Just happens to be one in the Coastal Townsite. That's the catch to coastal highway, it has a moose and wolf spawn zone next to the "main town"
Dont forget that the bear might come around looking for a snack too
There are times in this game you have to stop and really admire the art. There is a section where you are climb up a mountain and there is a waterfall before a cave you are supposed to enter. If you turn around and look out over the land at sunset its pretty damn impressive.
I actually got this game all the way back in 2014 entirely because I wanted to survive against the wild elements instead of monsters, and it's still one of the best examples of this in the genre.
Pssttt- the reason Moose are more dangerous is because realism. In real life, Moose actually ARE more dangerous than bears or wolf packs. And they kill vastly more humans than any of the predators combined. Thing is that moose are territorial, and kill you just to get rid of you.
God damn

2013 - 2015 - the golden age of survival games, rip you will be missed
The golden age of unfinished survival games. Now is the golden age of finished and truely amazing survival games.
Subnautica is the best survival game I’ve ever played and it came out around that time so I agree. I also never played the long dark, rust the forest or stranded deep.
@@lonelinesshotline3500 I don't deny that part of the games that came out were good, or even the best. I meant, that in those times there was a lot of games which gathered money to be made, and then never finished. For example: 7 days to die. It came out in 2013, got a lot of money and its still in Early Access now. Some of those games did get out of the Early Access and now those games are really good. For example: DayZ. Also, I played Subnautica, TLD, Rust and a little bit of The Forest. Rust is my favourite game, and TLD is the second.
@@redarq 7 days to die devs are trying to finish it. It’s a pretty sad state considering their console partner TellTale Games hit the bucket, along with it their only other source for widening the platform it can be played on.
I only got to finish subnautica a couple weeks ago because I'm shit scared of the ocean, matter of fact! The scariest spot was probably blood kelp
This game is so intense that even in the middle of the summer you can feel the wind and the cold hit your body and shiver a little.
I am currently surviving the summer with 34°C and this game helps me to cope
I didn’t think I’d see a video essay about such an old game. I’ve been finding old playthroughs of this game recently, and your video was one of the recommended. It’s pretty neat to see someone talking about the game as a retrospective. Keep it up 👍
Been playing TLD since it was in Beta and still absolutely love it!! Fun Fact: There used to be no "save" mechanic which made everything even more anxiety-inducing!! XD Now you can only save in survival mode if you sleep or enter a building and I think that's still pretty cool because you can't just save wherever/whenever you want, you gotta PLAN that shit.
I kinda wish more was said about Hinterland, the company that created TLD. Those guys/gals are 100% committed to making a great game! They are constantly working on this game, even after it's official release from Beta! They take and respond to all kinds of feedback and even make adjustments based on popular demand! They consistently put out newsletters and updates and keep in touch with their fans in ways that most game developers just don't. Seriously, the Hinterland team are incredible! Exceedingly patient with the constant requests for updates for new regions or chapters to the story mode while not disregarding those who genuinely offer good feedback! Top Notch Game Developer For Sure!!
If you're on the fence about trying this game, then climb down off that fence before you hurt yourself and just buy it already!! You won't regret it!!

I'm playing the Long Dark on the Switch and even if the loading screens are longer, the immersion is unreal. When I took my headphones off I need a couple of minute to realize I'm not in the middle of a blizzard. Great game, absolutly agree with you.
Btw, Flame in the Flood is one hell of Album...and a good game!

If the video hasn't sold you already, definitely give it a try! I've spent countless hours alone playing the PS4 version completely immersed within the desolate Canadian environment the game manages to portray so well. One of the best survival sandboxes I've ever had the pleasure of playing, and it's STILL being updated to this day, so you'll not be running out of content any time soon
did u watch the video?
Let's just say I've had the game for coming up on 2 years now and it's quickly bypassed all other games in my Steam library to be my most played game. Currently my ONLY game with over 1000 hours on it.
@Martijn i spent 40 for it in canada and it was worth it
YES!!! buy it
If I could describe why its good in one word it would be "atmosphere"
My favourite moment from the game was the first time I experienced the Northern lights and all of the electronics going haywire, it honestly made me extremely tense as I thought some Supernatural shit was going on but it turned out to be absolutely beautiful
Bro me too I was so scared and confused lol
NO WAY! I was in a gas station and all of sudden the power in inside the garage went crazy I thought maybe electricity goes on on certain time. very cool.
You forgot a detail, when you die, in survival mode, there’s it no save no extra life’s it’s permadeath. Multiple difficulty’s and all of the difficult is permadeath. The only save is in storyline. This my all time favourite survival game. Though it have its bugs. I still love it to death

Any one watching this because its free on epic?
I tried it and it wasn't that fun. Fighting the weather isn't that fun and upgrading your stuff isn't that rewarding because the animals aren't hard. It's very atmoshperic but i would prefer to play with friends.
Yeah
me
@@Str0up well if the animals arent hard how about you try the harder modes? Stalker and interloper. Also try going in bleak inlet or timberwolf mountain or ash canyon or hushed river valley. Much harder to survive. Hushed river valley on interloper is like borderline impossible. This game can have the challenge you want if you want it
If any of you are going to play the long dark I have some tips for you I have survived almost 250 days in one stalker run and 111 days in a interloper run
Tip 1: you do not need to eat all the time
Only before you sleep, so you can starve yourself all day but as long as you eat before you sleep you’ll regenerate all of the health you lost from starvation this allows you to ration your food for a very very long time
Tip 2: sticks are one of the best fuel sources while you walking around pick up as many as you can and you’ll always have fuel for a fire
Tip 3: NEVER EVER WASTE TIME, for example if your cooking food and the food take an hour to cook be doing something else while the food is cooking don’t just pass time that hour is long enough to make repairs, read or even leave and go look for firewood, this takes some time to learn how to do properly but once you do it allows you to maximize your time and never waste any
I've sunk so many hours into the survival mode of this game, if you're starting out just know you will die, over and over and over again, and it will be frustrating and you'll want to give up but each time you'll learn something new that will help you get to the next day and you'll gradually learn how to survive longer, I've recently gotten to a point after maybe 120 days survived where I finally have some decent clothing and enough resources that I feel like I'm at a point where I can "comfortably" start taking big risks and venture out and explore further regions but even then I've had some very close calls.
It's definitely a slow-burn game, you only get one life each play through and the lack of base building might be off-putting for some but give it a chance, eventually you'll find a region that has an already established "base" with its own advantages and disadvantages that you can make work for you where you can fortify yourself (probably) with the help of neighbouring zones.
The main thing for me about this game is the potential it has going forward, I love survival games and I'm really looking forward to how this game develops with the story mode and what changes/extras they will add to the survival mode.
Dude, the immersion is surreal in this game. I've been playing it on summer holidays, and when I got stuck in the middle of a blizzard under a collapsed roof, I started shivering when I looked at the snow raging just beside me.
I love The Long Dark....i did a "sadquit" after i made a bear mistake and dying 294 days in to a game.....
But i will soon make another run.

I'm sorry, you don't like red dead redemption 2?
Try playing escape the dark walker event it’s really fun
I'm loving this game right now. No zombies or soldiers just you and the world
As someone who often visits Alaska, moose are beautiful, terrifying creatures. They are very very protective and they will kill you if they want to. They are huge in person. Keep your distance from them or die.
Cool video but the whole time I was thinking about how you said there’s “too much to keep track of “ in red dead redemption 2. You have stamina, health, deadeye, and ammo count. You sleep, camp out, or sit to raise stamina. You drink medicine and eat to raise health. And you sleep, drink coffee, or dead eye tonics to raise dead eye. You loot enemies or buy ammo. Not much to keep track of IMO.
Yeah, that comment really threw me. I've played games that I had to eventually drop due to being overloaded with too much simultaneous crap to take care of, and what "management" there is in RDR2 barely registers by comparison. It's really not even slightly challenging unless maybe you're too used to GTAV? Idk.
For me it was a little bit overwhelming at first. I had never played rpg's nor this type of game before. Dropped it for a while but decided to give it another chance. I played it in 3rd person the first time, but when I forced my self to play it from a 1st person perspective that's when the game really sucked me in. It's one of my favourite games now.
I live in Northern Canada and this game does an incredible job at properly depicting what it's really like out here. I absolutely love it, such a beautiful place.
Except for not wearing gloves lol.
wolves also have different personalities, some can get scared away by simply throwing a rock at them and some will sprint at you faster after you shoot them
I absolutely adore this game and had 18 hours on steam within the first week of getting it. However, I would love a way to make either a sled or a backpack or something to become a true nomad in this game.

High wolf spawns and the terrain with all the snow banks hides them. And there's a bear that frequents the area too. And I can't remember if there's a moose there too (I think it's a possible spawn). Quonset is probably the most dangerous base to have in the game :D
Thank you! The Long Dark is my favorite video game so far. Hope to hear more from you about "The Quiet Apocalypse".
when a Pro Reviewer says hundred times "Amazing" and "Awesome" and no negative word by such a game, I have to doubt in his Honesty.

I love the long dark glad you’re covering it!
You lost me at the rdr2 point. That's still an amazing game.
Yeah ... and it wasn’t overwhelming at all... maybe missions at times would become a bit overwhelming when there were too many... but that’s it... you barely had to eat or do anything extra really.
Firstly, what a superb profile picture. Secondly, yeah, I don’t understand how you can laud a game where you micro manage things like food, supplies and temperature yet dislike a game with very light elements of those same mechanics and an actual story and end goals. Seems contradictory to me. He actually made me less interested in this game than I was before watching it.
Ikr. Its because of RDR2 that I'm looking into survival games. Playing in 1st person and the survival elements is exactly what enamoured me of the cowboy lifestyle. While you can ignore it (and the copious amount of ammo you can carry at some point), choosing to play it that way makes it way more immersive. Loved every minute of surviving and exploring on horse in a gorgeous looking nature with lifelike behaviour of animals. 👌🏼

I've never really enjoyed survival games, downloaded this game the other day cause I was bored. I've been addicted ever since.
As another Canadian I can also confirm this is how it is, this Blizzard is a normal days work. It looks pretty warm
I love that you recognized this game. I think it really captures the monotonous, gritty, realistic, repetitive fact of Survival. Splattercat thinks it's only matched in that aspect by Unreal World. I have to tarnation *agree*
EDIT: A man of TASTE, I see.
Do a vid on outer wilds. Immensely underrated
More cool info on the Quiet Apocalypse!
Not only is the Geomagnetic Storm a worldwide event, meaning Great Bear isn’t the only region affected, this whole game also happens during what’s essentially a second Great Depression. Supplies were already really low, so low in fact that America and Canada had to combine their economies to survive. Not much food was on the table, oil supplies were low, and most people had to learn at least some basic survival skills to keep going on. Then the First Flare hit, which is the official term for the geomagnetic storm, and the whole world went to Hell in a handbasket.
Keep in mind, this game’s apocalypse was partially inspired by that one time in the 1800s that an actual geomagnetic storm made the Northern Lights so big that you could see them from *MEXICO!* Now imagine an EMP hits the entire planet at once, the more civilized areas are in pure chaos. I think that’s why TLD is set where it is, because it would just be The Division if it wasn’t.
Heh, alright I’m done. This game is awesome!
There's very few survival games that really give you a sense of being alone like this one does.
Really wish it was coop though.
Yeah, but sadly the very premise of this game doesn't blend well with multiplayer.
I feel like it would be interesting if you both started in a different region and had to get to each other from your starting location
@@gonkdroid6364 could be fun yea. Just think if it was coop would be alot more popular, maybe make it harder because it's coop too.
It would be interesting with 2 players tho.
Right?? Another one or two players would be great. But if it were co-op how would you guys manage sleep? Assuming time only speeds up if you're both asleep. So what if you can't sync up your sleep? What does the sleeping player do? Legit question, I personally haven't played a game that tackles this issue. xD
POV: You saw that Epic Games released the game for free and searched it in RUclips
yeah....
nah, knew this game existed for some time now. Was gonna buy it as well. But got it for free nevertheless.
The weather can really mess with you in this game. I was exploring around my base cave when a fog set in and I lost my bearings. After wandering around for most of the day freezing and starving I came across my own footprints in the snow. I had spent the whole time wandering around in a big circle. I froze and died before nightfall - killed by fog
This game is so addictive. I won't play it for month but for some reason I always find my way back playing it. Trying to survive as long as I can.
"-survival game set in the *post-apocalyptic* Canadian Wilderness"
And i thought this is what Canada was actually like.
In some places it is, especially towns in Northern Canada, just not the whole country lol.
@@douggiles7647 I know it can't be the whole country, but The Long Dark is clearly set in the wilderness. Just have to find out if these locations exist in real life to confirm if it's Post-Apocalyptic.
It is lmao
Its free on epic games right now December 19th, 2020 free until the 20th
I think this game is a greate example of the fact that games dont need to have hyper realistic graphics to look good this game might look not good at the first glance but if you play it a bit you just realise that the graphics have a own kind of beauty
This game has something no other game of its genre does! I remember playing this game one day in 2016 or 2015 I think it was, either way.. My dad had an hearth attack at home while I was playing this. Fast forward time, I still play this and I always remember the incident happening, but it was kinda like therapy and help for me back then when I obviously was scared! It's a way to get off of my thoughts and calm down, and imagining I'd be there all alone, off the grid and thoughts (though I really wouldn't want to lol). It's kinda like therapy for me. But now he's doing good, no sign of illnesses or anything :)
Tomorrow a lot of people will watch this video and don't ask me why
I know!!
EGS worker ha!
unlike other games. cough. ark. cough. the long dark actually has good mechanics and is a COMPLETE GAME.
Love this game, played survival mode when it first came out, I picked it back up now 10 years later, trying to finish story mode.
Things I would like to see in The Long Dark:
1. A Thermos. Having one HOT cup of coffee, herbal tea, or tomato soup stay HOT longer.
2. Candles. In between not making a fire and saving my lantern oil, sometimes I just want a little bit of light to make it up to the bedroom or grab something out of storage.
3. Stone arrowheads, a stone knife, and a makeshift whetstone. If you can consistently kill rabbits with stones, the fire hardened arrows seem useless. If there are only a few forges and ammunition benches in the game, then maybe there can be a few more 2nd tier items that are made with stones.
Fun Fact: The Natural Predator of Moose is a Killer Whale.
I think the best thing about the Long Dark is that you don’t have a lifelong goal in a plot, or a base to build, or a boss to fight… it’s that you’re just trying to survive until the next day.
It creates a more realistic experience, where your main enemy is the elements and nature. There’s no automatic turrets or armor that can make you hard to kill. Bears, wolves, and moose will fuck you up even if you have a rifle if given the chance.
Dude said RDR2 has too much to manage
I'm out.
yeah this is a good vid but i have no idea what he's on about there. it's not even close to a survival game.
Yeah that was unexpected as hell
Me: reads the title*
Also me: you just found out?
No he just posted the video
the time you get out of the wrecked train into the Northern Lights is one of the best moments in video game history.
This game is just hits different
Hits in the feels even if no word is spoken and you just run around in the cold
What a nice review! Great job.
You've definitely covered the best aspects of the game.
I've played the alpha version a long time ago and loved it. By the time I've seen this game was released on Xbox I've felt so happy! Now, more players will be able to experience what a survival game is about: Survival. I made it this morning, but the night is gonna get windier... Do I have enough supplies and shelter to make it through this night?
TLD is an awesome game, and I'm addicted to it again!
I’m sorry but what was there to manage in red dead 2? Other than cutting your characters hair if you care or brushing your horse once every 5 hours of playing to keep it happy I can’t think of anything.
Wow you need more views.
400 hours played here. If you even like survival games a little, you should try it.
There's just a certain vibe to The Long Dark that not many other survival games have. I bought this game back when it was in early access on the Xbox and the only thing you could do was play in sandbox mode. It's still the only game I haven't deleted in my library because I always come back to it eventually.
I remember asking YEARS ago if they were going to add a feature where the clothing on your 3d arms changed depeding on the clothes you wear (they said yes), as well as gloves. Yet they didn't implemented it, never. It's such a shame because it breaks the immersion for me A LOT. It appears the player is in a snow environment without gloves, makes no damn sense.
That drives me crazy too, the gloves drive me crazy
@@flowerpower003 Yeah, i dont play it for that reason pretty much, it just takes me out of inmersion. It has great features and easily one of the best survival games, but for that solely reason, not for me. Its not even that hard to do!
@@danigmod11csxd Yeah I think the biggest issue with it would be the gloves clipping through objects held like the rifle, revolver, hatchet, knife, flare etc
@@flowerpower003 You are right, i haven't considered that. Either way, they have a team to take care of that, in a game where realism and immersion it's the point, cmon
@@danigmod11csxd They're a small indie studio, I don't think their animation department is that big and they have more important priorities.
Got it for free Today on Epic games!!!!!!!!!
Who is here after it's free on epic games
I bought the long dark a while ago and didn't touch it for a while. Tried it recently and its a blast. This game has made me feel like I'm in the world more than most titles in the last 10 years. It can even be terrifying at times which is neat, i like it.
It's the perfect title for the game. The "enemy" is your own death, your own failure to survive, the "long dark".
8:45 fun fact: moose are probably more powerful than a bear and if we didn’t have guns they could possibly kill us all
I gave this game a chance recently and now I'm asking myself why I didn't earlier. I was a bit nervous about it because I never was overly good at survival games, but this game was pretty easy to figure out once I got my bearings. I struggled the first week or two of a custom survival mode that is as easy as I could possibly make it to try and learn the ropes without dying horribly. Now, it's going on day 80 and I'm holed up in a large farmstead in Pleasant Valley with more resources than I know what to do with and pretty much all my clothing are furs from the other animals. Yes, I'm hellbent on making it to day 500. Wish me luck.
Lmao remember when you hosted a unturned server. Made so many people pay money and then just deleted the servers without notice and stealing all that cash.
that happened ?
im here because that game its free in epic
Could almost hear the pacifier dribbling out of your mouth when you said RDR2 was too much to manage
Ikr ive literally never heard that shit before 😂
