The Boston Celtics Showed Us EXACTLY What Everyone Feared | NBA News (Malcolm Brogdon, Jayson Tatum)

  • The Boston Celtics kicked off the 2022-23 NBA season in about as good of a way as they could’ve expected vs the Philadelphia 76ers. After a shaky 2022 NBA offseason for the Boston Celtics that some would say delivered more bad news than good with the Ime Udoka situation & Robert Williams III Injury, most only focused on this aspect of the Boston Celtics going into the year. Well, from just one regular season game, the Boston Celtics have already shown the NBA what everyone is already forgetting about.
The free agency & offseason acquisitions for the Celtics of Blake Griffin & Noah Vonleh definitely added solid depth to the Celtics bench, but everyone kinda just forgot about Malcolm Brogdon, more so the player he is. And in Malcolm Brogdon’s Celtics debut, he quickly reminded the NBA world how much better he’s going to make this team.
Accommodating Marcus Smart as a ball-handler, and being able to assist guys like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Derrick White, Grant Williams, etc, he really became a player that’s been undervalued over the last few years. And through both his scoring & playmaking, Malcolm Brogdon & the Boston Celtics already seem like the perfect fit with him being their 6th man.
This video includes 2022 Boston Celtics highlights, also including topics like Boston celtics 2022, boston celtics vs philadelphia 76ers, celtics vs sixers opening night, malcolm brogdon celtics highlights, robert williams injury news, boston celtics news today, jayson tatum celtics highlights, jaylen brown Celtics highlights, celtics post game, celtics live, celtics trade rumors, malcolm brogdon interview, celtics 76ers, celtics press conference, malcolm brogdon news, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.
Also, give me ideas for other NBA videos, news, and discussions I should cover in the future. I read ALL comments.
Thank you so much for the support guys.

One thing that might be an interesting stat to some, is the fact Brogdon only averaged 30+ mins a game in those seasons in Indiana. I don't believe Boston will ask him to put in 30+ mins a game often besides a night that one of the Jays might have off.

I compared the Celtics to the 96 bulls last year. I stand by that statement. Their defense should be out of this world. JT and JB as wing defenders will be ridiculous. Then Smart and Williams when he returns.
On offense, the fact they picked up Brogdon is crazy considering he will come off the bench. That means JB and JT can get their offense flowing and Brogdon will fire up the second units getting them involved.

The Celtics are a great team... BUT they are completely dependent on a 36 years old Horford. So yes, the Guard and Wing rotation is really great... but what if Horford misses a view weeks with a sprained ankle or something? All the Guards and Wings cant change that the Celtics have noone else who is even somewhat on that level as a defensive big and rim protector. Not with RWIII being out untill late this year (at best) Vonleh? Griffin? Dont think so. And its already starting... Horford is out against the Magic with back pain!

generally defense oriented teams want to slow down the pace of the game. less possessions with strong defense is effective, because if you shut down the other teams efficiency, they have less overall shot attempts to shoot their way back into the game with 3s.

I placed $100 on Brogdon for 6th man back in april $21-1, I think he adds a dynamic that will tear defences apart especially secondary units. He can help by being a spark plug when the Jays are in slumps or start slow, hes a great connector and in many cases a pass first point guard he showed a lot of this is the pre season. Brogdon and Sabonis 2 man game was elite and i cant wait for him and Rob to develop something hopefully it helps Rob get more mid ranges or allows him to show of his passing more as i think Celtics under utilise that aspect of Robs game. I hope Sam Hauser gets more usage but he will need to develop his defence a lot, hope he is used against sub 500 teams he can really be a sniper for the celtics. I hope Tatum continues to attack the basket strong the way he did against philly, he previously would skim across the face and put up weak shots that didn't always fall but against Philly he took it to them and was amazing. Tatums playing making has been stellar since the beginning of the playoffs and i hope he continues to develop. Jaylen just needs to work on his handle and maybe try set up other teammates a bit more often as hes amazing at setting his own shot but theres times i think itd be better to run a play use his gravity and set Al or Grant up for a 3.

Brogdon at worst Is the third best player on this team. I love the way you guys get a post cast and spread your ignorant basketball knowledge of the game. You act like you know it all about players in the NBA. Malcolm Brogdon should be the starting point guard but, he is not selfish and he understands that by season end he will play a major role if this team is to get back to the finals. What makes them so good I think is that all of their top 8 guys (except Rob Williams) can shoot, and all of their rotation players are 6'4 or bigger. There's no more "hiding kemba/IT4/Kyrie" making the defense go from top 2 to middling because there's an NBA midget on the team or some liability out there. Just everybody they play is actual NBA size and a complete player offense and defense, shooting and driving and passing. They are just complete with no tiny players, no useless Daniel Theis types out there either getting dunked on or fouling.

Brogdon isn't undervalued. For someone that's playing 50 games on average a season, he's not worth a first-rounder. But the Boston had the luxury and he's a perfect fit. Tatum took turns with Smart as PG in the last post-season. This will give them a proper ball handler to reduce costly turnovers which were their biggest concern in the finals. No one can make plays other than Tatum and Brown. This will allow Malcolm to play less demanding minutes coming off the bench. Which will be good for him long-term.

Vonleh? Griffin? Dont think so. And its already starting... Horford is out against the Magic with back pain!

Imagine if Gallinari hadn’t gotten hurt? How good would they be with him coming off the bench too?

    • @J4htheartist
      @J4htheartist Год назад

Hear me out I think the injury was a blessing in disguise. The moment Gallo comes in we wouldn’t get that many fastbreak opportunities, unless he’s the one pushing the ball, but Gallo is more a halfcourt player. Let’s not get started on his defense too. Grant isn’t a super fast guy, but he pushes the fast break way more. I think Justin Jackson should see some minutes instead of hauser tho. Justin is a all around shot creator. And his defense is slightly better than Sam. Against the elite teams we need shot creators off the bench and Gallo was suppose to him, so the next best option is Justin Jackson.

    • @dmkfactor1721

@@J4htheartist Again, imagine if he wasn’t hurt! Imagine having him in the corner getting kick outs and wide open looks! We need scores off the bench, see last years finals, right? Love Grant Williams and love what Brogdon can bring to the team, but Gallinari would’ve been icing on the cake! Did you watch Golden State the other night? How deep is that bench? That’s what we need to beat, and I just don’t know this team can run with that team for 48 minutes we need bodies and SCORERS off the bench, LOTS of scorers!

    • @J4htheartist

@@dmkfactor1721 GsW’s bench actually got weaker. They have a deep bench but don’t get it twisted even they are still trying to find a bench group that works. Kuminga can’t shoot. Wiseman can’t hit a free throw so in the playoffs he will be benched if he doesn’t improve it. Donte is a much different player, he’s not the same he’s slower. Green is solid for sure, but has to be on the court with someone like wiseman at all times. Poole is ovverated imo he’s not very consistent and his defense stinks. He’s gotten better at playmaking tho. Trust me watch when they face a elite team. Lakers are a mess. Gallo most definitely can hit a corner shot but so can Sam hauser. Sam can roll off a screen better. As for who is better defense wise I might have to go with Sam again because he has the speed to keep up. Don’t get me wrong having multiple shooters is great but we also have to keep in mind the defense. A guy like Evan Fournier is a superb bucket getter but we see time and time again teams attack him on offense. Same thing would happen to Gallo. That same warriors team would eat him alive because he would have to chase around screens all day and we know he’s not that type of guy to do that. Grant has lost some weight and is capable of guarding guards now.
