- I recently headed back to my favourite place to hunt for vintage toys, Tokyo, Japan. In this second video we head to Akihabara and Nakano for some more vintage toy hunting. There is so much to see and only so much suitcase space to fill!

Usually sequels are a bit disappointing but this part 2 was great! Amazing finds, especially the Indiana Jones and transformers!
Glad you enjoyed!
Looking is most of the fun! 😃
Great video Dave. Japan is a toy collector’s dream. The Tamiya drill looks intriguing, looking forward to that video.
A simply wonderful video Dave. Not only to toys, it that handy drill looks like it could come in very handy. The biggest thing though. I'll probably never get to Tokyo myself. So getting a glimpse of somewhere like that is absolutely amazing to me. It really looks like a cool place. Especially being able to find some of these toys in their natural habitat.😂. Again very cool. As always thanks for what you do.
My pleasure. It's a great place to visit, not just for the toys. And the drill is great. You'll see more on that next week.
Saw some interesting pieces during this video. Love the idea of building your own tools. Looking forward to part 3.
Coming soon!
So you were in Japan during my birthday month and didn’t even stop by for a cup of coffee……I’m so disappointed. However I do appreciate your videos.
Great video! I am making my first trip to Tokyo in a few weeks and have set aside time for toy hunting! Any recommendations on finding vintage Space Battleship Yamato / StarBlazers items??? Thanks!
Head to Nakano Broadway. That's always a good place to start.
@@toypolloi thanks! Always appreciate it!
What an incredible selection. Loved seeing the boxed G1 Fortress Maximus and Scorponok near the start.
There are so many cool transformers. Most out of my price range sadly.

02:28 - Vintage Fort Max! Man, I'd love one of those. Could be a bit tricky fitting it into the suitcase for the return home though...
You'd have to book an extra seat for him 😎
This month picked up 3 12" Star Wars Force of destiny unboxed figures. Can't wait till next month see what else I can pick up
Was in Ikebukero at start of April ! totally missed the manadrake at PARCO - doh but son loves Kamen Rider so was at Nakano 3 times - see you found the Gatchaman pop up shop
I love Mandarake. A huge chunk of my collection has come from them over the years. In particular, they're often a great way for me to get US "exclusives" that are difficult for me to source directly from the States.
Excellent video Dave I enjoy seeing what you pick up and the figure, toy stores you go to…. Even these videos of yours give me ideas for my collection and collecting ( new toy line to buy, ideas for tools to use,etc ) 👍🏼very interesting thanks
a question..when filming in the shops, do you ask for permission or its ok to film without asking?
Years ago stores in Japan like Mandarake had signs on all displays that said no cameras allowed, but over the years with the avent of smart phones & social media, they dropped that and now they don’t bother with anybody filming, talking on the phone while filming, taking pictures, etc.
I don't. If I was asked to stop I would. Some stores have signs up saying no filming so I don't film in those.
Thank you and love part of you and Jeremy together again in Japan 🤩🤩🤩
Try Google lens to find the red figure
I wish you could have come to Osaka, I got some spots to show you!!
I've got to go to Daiso and get that UV resin light!
Maybe one day!
Brilliant stuff Dave and great pickups, the pop-up Gatchaman stall looked intriguing too. Looking forward to part 3 and the video of the Tamiya drill, thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely haul - I esp liked seeing for the first time the OJR Stunticon box compared to the flat carded versions we got over here. Way nicer to look at and collect. Only the larger Motormaster got a box from that combiner team for obv reasons.
Totally
Around the 5mins mark which shop is this? So much lovely Henshin Cyborg stuff 😍
They were in one of the Mandarake stores in Nakano. I think you'll like part three of this hunt. You'll see that in a couple of weeks.
Hi wonderful video, I wanted to ask if you had any ideas or know where I might able to make or acquire something that looks like a lunar surface that I can display my manta force toys on?
Cheers👍🏻
You could make something, or try looking at aquarium rock backgrounds. ruclips.net/video/5J8dEu92sQ8/видео.html&pp=ygUSdG95IHBvbGxvaSBkaW9yYW1h
How long is the flight from England to Japan? Is the experience different every time?
Currently about 15 hours due to flight restrictions over Russia. It's different every time we visit, which is why we go so often.
Have you ever made a visit to Red Mercury, in the Ueno district. They stock mostly newer releases for Transformers, Star Wars and Marvel but it's still the most i've seen in one shop of all those IPs.
I haven't. Will have to check it out next time. Cheers
Awesome video Dave, glad to see you still enjoying the trips to Tokyo, its the city that keeps on giving🤩
It really is! We find something new every time. Didn't have a chance to give you a bell this time. We will be back!
Excellent finds for the collection too and can’t wait to see more another time of you two together again in Japan 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
Can't wait!
Fun fact: The little pamphlet in the Stormtrooper packet is an ad for the dubbed home video release of the original trilogy.
Oh cool! I didn't know that.
6:30 Ooooo Gatchaman!
I take it the 1:1 Gatchaman Ken was not for sale? 😅 Nice to see they are still making new Gatchaman figures.
He wouldn't fit in my suitcase!
Did you not stop at mandarake cocoo it’s in akihabara!
I did. These are just edited highlights of where I went. More to see in the next episode.
You can’t beat the original Japanese TAKARA packaging, so much better that what we had. That Jeeg even for a reissue was a steal, if it’s a 1970’s version then that’s insane! Love the DaiX too, never seen and again another bargain! Great buys Dave 👏 looking forward to a DaiX repair video 😃
Those boxes just look much nicer on display. And yes, a vintage Jeeg!
Wow @@toypolloi what a find! Still after a vintage for my magnemo collection. Congrats 🙌
If you do a repair on that Starfleet toy, pls do a video. I would love to see that.
There will be a video!
Big in Japan! Thanks for this video!
Thanks for watching!
Love that G1 Transformers box.
Same. They look great like that.
Nakano Broadway is better for the bang for the buck. Great video though.
Nakano is my favourite place to hunt. But it's always worth checking out the rest. You never know when you'll spot that bargain.
@@toypolloi For sure. I definitely gotta check those Hobby Offs next time around.
Nice video great pickups. Belloq ❤
Thanks!
Awesome 😎
Only dave could pull off blue socks.
Don't rely on me for any sort of fashion sense. I have none.
How you find anything when there is so much is an achievement, great vid!
I'm sure I miss so much as it's often hard to see everything.
It's a challenge!
I left a comment the other night Dave, but it doesn't seem to have worked. The X-Bomber figure is by Takatoku, there is precisely one photo of it online but I don't seem to be able to send you the link here. I'll send it to you on Twitter. It's very small so not sure if you'll be able to make out the necessary detail.
Thanks. I have actually managed to source a few more photos of both it and the box. Hopefully enough to make repairs and get it looking good for display. Watch this space as I will show the project here in the coming months.
@@toypolloi Oh wow, okay. I was looking for around an hour and managed to find one very low-res image so what you have is probably better.
I used Google lens and it tracked down a few.
Hey that's a drill from Yodobashi Camera!!!
Awesome tour 😊
Thank you 😁
Thank you for sharing Dave😊
Damn, wish that pop-up Gatchaman store had been there back in February when I was there.
It was great. I bought a few bits!
Find any stompers?
The ones by Shaffer?
@@toypolloi yeah Schaper. Not sure of the brand there. Usually boxes are white. Thanks for replying.

I've been after a very specific US one for years that my Dad brought back from a trip one time. I don't think they ever made it to the UK. And I don't think I have ever seen them in Japan.
@@toypolloi which one? I have many
