Okay man. I'm not trying to start an argument i'm just sayin this song is better than most other peoples finished songs. I agree with you totally. It's his song. Weather or not it's finished is totally up to him.
JM was in his prime here. He's actually better at guitar now, but this was his best period overall for guitar, songwriting, and especially vocals. his voice was never the same after 2012
I completely disagree, I used to hate B&R and Paradise Valley back when they were released but now I like both of them better than continuum, I think his songwriting got better, and people say his voice became worse after the surgery but I like that voice a bit more. He's changed his guitar playing style as well after joining the dead so that's a plus. He wasn't in his prime here, he's still evolving with every dead concert he does
This song just keeps giving me chills down my spine at midnight. John is as much as a treasure to me. I got to learn this song soon! Thx for sharing it with us! Much love for John!
I think that while this is good, you're being entirely too unfair with Sob Rock. I mean, "Wild Blue" and "All I Want" alone make the album a worthwhile listen
A small part of me hopes that this song is a play on words. And, by that I mean: the song is obviously referencing taking on water as a boat would do during a storm. But, also, taking it (head) on as you would if you were to challenge it. This is one that I pray will wind up being recorded - even if it as a raw version.
On a sailboat I am slowly Floating nowhere Lost the memories Of where I am and why Black ocean churning A million stars Are burning Planetariums were right About the sky Once upon a day I set off on a journey Wishing on the wind Take me far from home Now I'm on the waves And I'm taking on water Hard to see I won't always be alone There was a time When August sun was high And centered on me But it did me on my back And settled down Used to scream Through the land Used to size it In my head But it fell Behind the line That leads to sky Once upon a day I set off on a journey Wishing on the wind Take me far from home Now I'm on the waves And I'm taking on water Hard to see I won't always be alone Inside this storm Whipping in the wind My sail is torn In other words The ends Are never not my own Hard to see I won't always be alone I'm a sailboat out of here Slowly floating nowhere Then someday I'll wash upon Someone else's shore
Some part of me doesn't mind that John doesn't want to release this song. Maybe that's just me, anyway, thanks for posting love everything by this man.
I have heard that he still hasn't finished it which is a shame but I have to admit that I would rather wait for him to complete it so he is happy with it rather than him releasing it "unfinished" :)
There’s something very profound about singing about the sea or the cosmos. Think about this song, Drifting, In your Atmosphere, Lost at Sea, and more. Maybe it has to do with their vast emptiness
Still one of my favorite JM songs of all times. Check out my acoustic attempt at capturing that early JM blend of hopeful and somber - ruclips.net/video/gAQjV_ZuMpI/видео.html
Sounds better than "Lost At Sea" in my humble opnion. Just imagine how it would sound with a piano arrangement and a lap steel guitar solo. Can't believe he didn't recorded it yet.
If this is a song that isn't done, I feel sorry for other peoples finished songs.
yes. yes. yes.
I think it's the artist who has to decide when his song is 'finished'. His feelings, thoughts and emotions define the song
Okay man. I'm not trying to start an argument i'm just sayin this song is better than most other peoples finished songs. I agree with you totally. It's his song. Weather or not it's finished is totally up to him.
Seriously.
When he said the second verse wasn’t ready I was expecting missing lyrics or something…WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT?!!
DITTO ..
This guy's unreleased tracks are some of his best.
Just release an album of all the unreleased tracks... they're too good to waste
+lucy Whiston i thought about this a couple times ... i think it would be better than the rest of his albums lol
+Mitchell Tornquist oh my God, that article made my day!
for real!!!
I'm about to cry
Lucy Whiston what article? I missed what y’all were talking about
I think this must be one of the best songs he's ever written
this was John Mayer at his finest. No hair, no hat, just some white sneakers and his black Strat
Trey Mohr sweet rhymes

@@overlooker3656 I really think the Dead & Co thing took a lot away from his solo music
and a Rolex watch ;)
Sounds finished enough to me. Beautiful.
John had some flawless performances at this Berklee session! This is one my favorites from him.
thank you John mayer for not only singing but inspiring. we love you such performers are rare
I'm still listening to this song in 2021 hope all of you are well
He had such a clear idea what he wanted his next record to sound like. So battle studios. One day we'll get a studio of this 🙏🤭
This gives me heavy “all we ever do is say goodbye” vibes.
Yes dude deymm
I love this song so much, and seeing this video of it is awesome. Thank you for sharing! ❤
One of his best ever
Wow...simply amazing. And what a Pearl Jam influence, too.
Hell yeah!! Even though your comment is 8 years old, I wanted to say I 100% agree with it.
I have been listening all night to born and raised and after(i ve waited all my life to listen...im free.love, evylon grace
This song just keeps giving me chills down my spine at midnight. John is as much as a treasure to me. I got to learn this song soon! Thx for sharing it with us! Much love for John!
How in the heck did this gem not make it on one of his albums ??? This is up there with Wheel as his best song ……
I'm just sitting here and still waiting for an official release...I love that song so much ;w;
Beautiful song
This is better than the entire Sob Rock album, it blows me away that it’s, “unfinished”.
Yea honestly I miss this John Mayer
I think that while this is good, you're being entirely too unfair with Sob Rock. I mean, "Wild Blue" and "All I Want" alone make the album a worthwhile listen
Such a beautiful song!
What a deep, beautiful and touching song..🍂
Can't stop listening to this...
After encountering this song, almost everything of myself suddenly makes sense
Dino Amous just found this song.. hitting me like a bag of bricks.

that was my first interpretation as well, that he took on water as he would take on a challenge. :)
just love how scenic these lyrics are btw.
I can find a deeper meaning or play on words in 99% of his music. He's a very confessional writer
0:58 woah! John using the whole index finger to play bar chords!? That's a new..
😁😁😁😁
Amazing.
This is so good...and he looks amazing here too. ❤️
Am I the only one that could totally see Eddie Vedder singing this song? Sounds kinds like him in parts
true
Eddie is John’s dream collab :) he plays the start of ‘Better Man’ in this Berklee presentation!
haunting song; thanks for uploading!
I dunno if that would work, John really needs to release a massive B side album!
Thank you so much for posting this song! It really made my day.
This makes me wanna go to berklee college of music now.
I can... by listening to his other masterpieces :)
On a sailboat
I am slowly
Floating nowhere
Lost the memories
Of where I am and why
Black ocean churning
A million stars
Are burning
Planetariums were right
About the sky
Once upon a day
I set off on a journey
Wishing on the wind
Take me far from home
Now I'm on the waves
And I'm taking on water
Hard to see
I won't always be alone
There was a time
When August sun was high
And centered on me
But it did me on my back
And settled down
Used to scream
Through the land
Used to size it
In my head
But it fell
Behind the line
That leads to sky
Once upon a day
I set off on a journey
Wishing on the wind
Take me far from home
Now I'm on the waves
And I'm taking on water
Hard to see
I won't always be alone
Inside this storm
Whipping in the wind
My sail is torn
In other words
The ends
Are never not my own
Hard to see
I won't always be alone
I'm a sailboat out of here
Slowly floating nowhere
Then someday
I'll wash upon
Someone else's shore
é barbarro amei amei tens bõm gosto
He finished this in the shape of : " I will be found " !! :)
Some part of me doesn't mind that John doesn't want to release this song.

The loneliest thumbs down I've seen in my life.
damn that Rene Martinez knows how to intonate the guitar! :)
So John Mayer still actually uses bar chords, but only for writing a new song! Knowing this just helps me feel less sorry for myself hahaha
Nam Giang hahaha
I have heard that he still hasn't finished it which is a shame but I have to admit that I would rather wait for him to complete it so he is happy with it rather than him releasing it "unfinished" :)
I've got a tab of the first part of it sitting on my computer, that you can probably extrapolate the rest of the song from.
fucking genius
Maybe hell Finally release it on the new record
Well I guess that fell through, right? Lol. Unfortunately.
hes playing bar chords on the e string???? unheard of
That one dislike is the guy who went to the toilet when this song was played. XD
Demais, Demais, Demais....
I think it is amazing that an unfinished song that John claims is not good enough yet is better than any of Taylor Swift's songs
Reggie Sills why the unnecessary comparison?
@Billy Levy indeed
There are people who will never hear this song 🤯😥
เพลงนี้ โคตรเจ๋งเลย bro
"I will be found"
Good question, I was recently looking for them myself...
Normal bar chords? Is this a fake video?
Justin Cruz those aren't bar chords
HAHA
But why they've deleted all the video from the conference damn!
yeah i'm really sad
Someone put them on Drive :) drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/0B_lCsFSE-DTfTmExWmN6cVVZVGc
@ndorptom OH MY GOODNESS WOW
❤️💕
Could've been a bonus track for the B&R album?????
There’s something very profound about singing about the sea or the cosmos. Think about this song, Drifting, In your Atmosphere, Lost at Sea, and more. Maybe it has to do with their vast emptiness
What happend to the all the parts 1-9? cant find them on youtube?

Damn son, who edited this bitch?! That transition at 0:31 is fiyahhhh
Adam Baranowski I’m laughing so hard
ジョンメイヤーはほんと素晴らしいメロディを作るなー( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
"2nd verse isn't good enough" stop bullshitting us John
this could be lost at sea(i will be found)
Sounds better than "Lost At Sea" in my humble opnion. Just imagine how it would sound with a piano arrangement and a lap steel guitar solo. Can't believe he didn't recorded it yet.
Planetariums were right about the sky
holy shit is that a black1?
Bob dylan influence here
I was breastfed on the guitar.
Maybe hell finalen
Why does he have to have a stroke every time her sings.lol
@@jrdn902 100% agree, wish I could've slapped myself in the face 7 years ago for even asking that dumb question.
