Have you used clonezilla before? what's your preferred backup software? let me know in comments below
what pendrive to use. 4 gb / 8gb / 16 gb ? ty
I haven not used Clonezilla. I use Aomei Backupper Free to make image files (systembackup). Aomei can if you want it, restore the image to another destination, so that a image that is from a HDD can be restores to an SSD instead. The program sets the nessasary settings so the ssd not will defrag as a HDD is used to do.
No,i haven't it used it,it seems too complicated for me.
I have been using the paid version of Macrium Reflect since 2019 and it works perfectly.
It has proven itself many times and i consider it extremely reliable.
I’ve tried to back up my wife 🤣
@@captaincomando8107 I wouldn't recommend using a pendrive at all for backing up an entire PC!
Thanks Brian.
Macrium Reflect is what I usually prefer. I've also used Acronis, Clonezilla and the MiniTool Partition Wizard.
Thanks for sharing!
I just used the free MiniTool Partition Wizard a few days ago for the first time to repartition a new SSD drive on an old laptop I have! I have to say that it works rather well and I really like it! 👍👍
I use Casper. I find it really good. It can do weekly automated backups which saves an image to my NAS drive. It’s simple and it works
Funny, my new PC is coming in today so I need to back my current one and copy it over to the new guy. You, sir, have excellent timing!
Your video awhile back on MediCAT and rotating external Seagate BUP (5tb) drives set me up for success. One in the Safe, one in the car and one in my desk at the office. Everything gets backed up quarterly.
@Brian. An excellent 'walk through' of both how to backup and restore your Windows OS, sir. 👍
good stuff, great video :) not done a backup in a while think the last backup I done was windows restore and just clone my drive with Acronis. thanks for sharing
Glad it helped!
Brian I am not really that tech savvy but enough to get me by and it seems from your video here that this is just another way of backing up your machines. I have to say that a large capacity USB stick out here in Australia is going to be out of my budget range so in reality I couldn't setup a USB for cloning the OS. I personally do a system restore point on a regular basis and also a system disk backup to an external drive with AOMEI. Having said that what method do you use for backing your machines should they break or brick. On a different tack would like to see a video on the settings in one's BIOS as I and I suspect many others would too. Have a great day mate😃
LOVE THIS VIDEO BRIAN, I'm not "techie" enough to keep out of trouble. and I have zero patience. However this video was great! 13 minutes and DONE! I really appreciate you and your videos. The hardest part for me has always been how to RESTORE the image to another HDD.. Everyone seems to show the first but rarely ever cover that "restoration"..Thanks.
i Stick with Acronis easy and for me Best Data Recovery and Backup for all my Data. Thanks Brian Good Video
Britech brain is barain... Always true videos and Nice explanation God bless you sir
Thanks and welcome
can i clone windows to fast usb flash drive and use like that windows on usb flash drive?
This is only for literally cloning one machine to another identical one? I want to do the same but my machines are from two manufacturers (HP and Dell). Maybe I can just do XCOPY to an intermediate drive?
Amazing👍
Thank you! Cheers!
It’s 2023, they could probably use a Windows-like interface ala Macrium.
I agree
Fantastic!
😊😍😊 Just finished loading my PC base build as an ISO onto a 128gb USB 3.0 flash drive. Thanks to you this drive, which will likely only be used once per year or so, was created affordably and efficiently. You're a hero Brian!
Forgot to mention it's Windows 11 pro.
As always 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
As i understand you must restore image to same size or larger drive, this wont work if you are replacing a large slow hard drive with little space used, with a smaller /faster SSD , which i often do,
How do you record Bios or Boot Menu?
Would an SD card be viable as storage?
Good video mon frére
Thanks
I don't get it. Why you download clonzilla in a separate USB flash drive?
Cool!
Thanks
Where can i get a dirty keyboard as you've shown they are a must have
It looks so complicated...
I use Acronis, I put on an old 2GB drive and I compress any drive (C:) into a backup ISO....
Takes 5 minutes or less and only takes 10-30GB space, reducing windows drive size does save space.
I wouldn't bother saving others files on this form, I would just copy them directly into a 6TB drive and unplug it once I'm done so you can still work around your PC while update your backup for safety is the most simplistic way possible (external d rive).
seems overlcomplicated for a backup, you can use windows backup and restore to make a fully functional image of a system windows itself allows you to make that image in a network computer or a USB and you can do it without even shutting down the PC, what is even better you can mount that image using windows disk management and have access to files in that backup and its all for free...
I agree , this is the best way if you want to go for free . Macrium Reflect , Acronics and Minitool Partition are amazing tools if you go with paid editions also Win to USB and Win to HDD Enterprise editions are very simple and good enoughp.
Macrium Reflect for Windows.
Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper for Mac.
Macrium Reflect dropped the free version
@@Britec09 you can still get the free version from other reliable sources and they are providing security patches until Jan 2024. I actually purchased the Home version during one of their sales and love it.
why clonezila and not rescuezila ?
Great video but the interface from Clonezilla is not good for a UEFI bios hahaha. I will stick to Aomei or WintoHDD. Much better interface.
Fair enough!
Wotcha Bri, I wish I could of backed up my life 😉
Corrupted file 😂
@@frosty.winnipeg you know it dude 😂✌️
Macrium reflect atm, prob change to achronis soon.
Nice
Actually I just "backup" my data to an external USB HD using the free WinRobocopy gui. This means I can backup securely and restore files as and when I want them.
I will make a video on that
@@Britec09 I've just been made aware that Ashampoo offers a free backup solution for local storage, minus a few features from their premium offering such as encryption and cloud storage support. It might be worth looking at as well.
What about making a system image backup, though? In my experience it's always when the Windows boot stuff gets screwed that gives the most problems. Like last Friday when I got a BSOD for the first time in years and drive C was making nasty clicking noises. Restored from a True Image backup to a functioning tested HDD and the PC was back in action. .
For that I rely on a recovery drive.
What's going on . One gets confused. How many steps are there? Isn't there an easier way?
I'm using Aomei Back upper and it feels much easier with less steps.
I agree, but always good to learn new things
does it shrink the data
yes, it compresses data
👍👍
That interface needs modernizing. I bet a lot of people non savvy users would be scared to touch anything that looked like terminal interface.
Rescuezilla is easier to use.
I tried this but my cat stepped on the keyboard and it wiped my hard drive.
To complicated for me.
Plenty of other options that are easier
Handy but I just copy and paste what I need lol
lazy lol
But how do you restore/recover Windows when it gets totally screwed? (to WelshTony1)
God, how I hate Linux! Could Clonezilla not make the procedure even more obscure? Awful.
This looks a lot more complicated than when I used CloneZilla before. I didn't understand half of it.
rescuezilla for gui experience
Yes, you can use that
