This guys physique is a breath of fresh air. Love the look of the old school bodybuilders, awesome proportions and not freaky lean. Also smaller and more proportional legs compared to todays bodybuilders.

Joel's training is always been interesting to me... I did in fact purchase all of his e-books. His amount of volume is pretty frowned upon nowadays! I think he gets away with higher volume due to the way he warms up (in a way pre-fatigues) and shortens his rest periods to model very golden era style of training

Thanks for sharing Austin! Yes, in the video he mentions he works his way up to 2 very hard sets and the sets prior to that are challenging but not to the point of failure, though he calls them "warm up" sets.

Jesse James West trains very similar to this too. It’s lots of sets 12-20 per workout twice a week so like 24-40 sets per week per muscle. I think it really says something when the natty Arnold and the natty Cbum both train super high volume. Clearly if you want to maximize muscle growth this is a pretty way to go about it if you’ve got the time and the discipline to do it.

everyone trains the same way, many exercises ramping sets to a 1 or 2 top sets to failure per exercise and exercises to hit all angles, bbding isnt complicated is all about genetics food and if one wants drugs too

I think it’s cos most people who go for 8 reps don’t realise they’re actually leaving a lot in the tank. When you go for 8 reps but then really try smash out a few more reps you realise that you can and you get an insane pump

I’m pretty sure Geoffrey Verity Schoenfeld does around the same volume as this guy and everyone is okay with it so not sure why this guy gets so much hate. He does high reps with lighter weights and not to failure, it’s totally possible to train this way without steroids.

The pump is great too and not overly taxing on the nervous system like most HIT/RPT style training. But if one can’t spend 6 days a week lifting 90 mins at a time, then I would choose an RPT style on 1 key strength compound exercise per body part and 1 pump stretch style for accessories. Full body 4 days/week. Thoughts?

I'll be honest, I actually tought this guy was natural but after hearing this, I changed my mind. More volume, more intensity AND improving while getting to contest shape? Dude is training 6-7 days a week sometimes twice a day. Currently doing 32 sets+ minimum per body part per week and he will increase volume while getting leaner, while improving while intensity going higher (i.e. drop sets)? Either I didn't understood correctly or it's definitelyy hella sus.
In any case, thanks for the great interview and questions! Love your content and LOVE that youre now exploring the nutrition part of things. Keep up the amazing work man!

You don't even need to look at his training style. His physique totally resembles Arnold's and we all know Arnold wasn't natty.

His facial changes are the biggest give away to me. Look at his before and after photos. His face isn’t just leaner, the entire structure changed. We see this hyper masculine face with guys who blast highly androgenic compounds like tren. Zyzzs face had similar changes after he blasted gear.

This is fallacious because steroid users ALSO complain about their performance going down when they cut. Getting more intense, training harder while cutting is implausible for anyone on a caloric deficit REGARDLESS of juice or no juice. So it's not an indication he's on steroids, it's an indication he either had more energy to give and peaking for a show was the motivation he needed, or he's lying/wrong. It really shouldn't sway you towards steroids as steroids would not make that kind of performance more likely.
As for the volume, just watch him work out, pay attention to the weights he lifts and how he rarely goes to failure until the last set. Not sus.

Instead of the classic increase in weights, he prefers to work with low weight but increase volume. For example, if you can do 4 approaches with this weight, you should aim to increase this to 5 or more for load progression.

This guys says he's doing 20 sets twice a week but he said he's really going to failure on 1 or 2 of the the 4 sets per 5 exercises. So hes counting his warm up sets which is misleading. If he's doing 5 exercises and lets say 1 actual set to failure then he's really doing only 10 work sets per week. Which is very reasonable. And since he's taking short rest periods he has to do more sets anyway to get the same number of effective reps. Hes really just fatiguing himself for no reason. But if he likes it he likes it.
