“Kinky night” greatly appreciate the new vocabulary Steven
I'm surprised that an academic saw a whip before a graduation tassel -- but you have a closer view of it than I! And, yep, looks like another good Tibaldi, so far as writing is concerned, and even for the "bamboo", which if I'm going to have a bamboo pen, I'd as soon it be bamboo. Thanks as always!
The tassels look like a fishing lure to me, thanks for bringing us this review of an oddball pen, I enjoy videos like this!😃
Such decorations can be found attached to sceptres, and to the handles of Chinese and Korean ceremonial swords.
Maybe it is the pre-release for the Tibaldi Nunchucks? Two bamboo pens connected to each other with a chain. A special release for teachers. One writing red, the other blue. What this has to do with Italy I also don't know.
Can´t help thinking of the tassels on lamps from traditionally styled chinese restaurants.Maybe that was the inspiration ? Maybe they were having lunch and said .Hey lets make a bamboo pen but it need something more than just the shape!
I do like the brand name on the converter, not so much for aesthetic reasons, but for practical purposes in matching it to the proper pen.
Meow!!
I've seen tassels like that on the handles of Chinese swords and other weapons. Maybe a tribute to that?
That's a good point, and I think I've seen them on decorative (dress), commemorative and toy swords -- but I have to ask: were EVER any Samurai (or the Chinese equivalent) warriors that used them on their swords. It seems to me that a shiny bauble would ruin any stealth or distract during battle. I am NOT an expert on this by any stretch of the imagination though.
Agreed! 😎 @@randy-9842
I do really quite like that. I would certainly snip the tassel off. I have no other things with tassels in my life and see no reason to change that. The leftover ring would not bother me. For a pocket pen.... maybe some kind of short lanyard, but not feeling sure about that either.
Would be nicer, for me, if they had managed to include a posting cap.
As for your question, it is a cat toy. Fountain pen people have a lot of cats because they are right about things. (In completely unrelated news: Toxoplasmosis)
The tiny loop on the cap might be to attach a neck lanyard. The "whip" thing reminds me of the bits of gaudy shiny tassels attached to certain parts of the costumes burlesque dancers used to wear. Hmmmm... I suppose someone had to say it out loud ... but on a fountain pen?? Thanks for the review.
I would not want a tassel on a pen for a variety of reasons (imagine trying to lasso that thing into a pen case). I'm guessing they saw it as a decorative addition and there might be something to that, but they should have made it easily removable. Even if a small ring was left behind and stayed on the pen, that wouldn't be horrible as long as there was some way to unhook the tassel. I'm sure I would fidget with that thing endlessly if I had one.
is there a specific reason (like, an artistic one) for the lack of lighting in your videos? i thought it was something related to your older videos, but it is the same in all the new ones. i hope you don't mind my asking!
In my opinion the tassel has a functional purpose as an elegant roll stop. It can also serve as a fidget toy. The main purpose however I believe is for aesthetic appeal and collectibility. I like Tibaldi pens but this one doesn’t do it for me. I feel the design would be improved if they shortened the tassel by 75% and elongated the section.
Did the pen arrive on April first?
it is always good to know if a pen would cut into your skin if you used it.
I saw the title, then the tassel and my first thought was: This is April 1st, this has to be a joke.
I would say the tassel is a cat toy, but actually seems more like a fidget toy for the owner.
I commented on Tibaldi before and I remain a fan of the brand even though its origin story has many gaps and frankly they should change the overall "message"; perhaps I am not in their intended audience, however. They currently make quirky pens for sure, but also rather original in the current Italian market and more inexpensive than most. The Bamboo is the only model I do not have but I will one day! :-) There are versions without the tassel (Spanish exclusive?) that have the same clip of the Tibaldi Perfecta (White Powder), a pen that I absolutely love to carry around. I hope they will come out with some new model at some point because it has been a while....
I believe the only function of such a tassel is decorative, in this case it has an edge and I like it.
Tassel is there so no one asks to borrow your pen.
Stephen, it’s there to be able to retrieve your pen if it falls into the sink.
Genius sees the answer before the problem...
Some people see the whip before the bamboo...
Or, the pen - for that matter.
;)
Cap o' nine tails ?
Yes, you are right: it does look like a finger phalanx!
Regards.
The whip is obviously for spicing up the steno pool.
Well, the "whip" / "tassle" could be used for small S&M sessions when you do not have access to the real thing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Truphae is selling this exact pen for US$236 (and saying that is a US$59 discount).
Kinda looks like cartoon bones to me. But at least make the part on top be adaptable for a key chain.
As an ADHD'er my brain thinks it was designed by a fellow ADHD'er who ran out of time and was working on multiple pens at the same time.....oh look an eagle!
or, the pen could of been designed by a cat reincarnated....hahaha
Chels c:
Since it has no clip, they put the whip to stop it from rolling.
I never would have guessed that the pen was supposed to look like bamboo. It definitely looks like bones. Mabe the tassel is like a fidget spinner.
But sill creative metal whip
No, its not just you. I literally thought, "that also looks like finger bones" right before you said that.
A nice pen absolutely ruined by that stupid tassel
Mixed impression regarding the pen itself, for me. Would not be interested in buying/using it. AS FOR the "whip", it reminds me of some women's (have never seen a man wearing it) jewelry - primarily earrings and occasionally a necklace. Other than that, it seems to be a simple adornment like a ribbon on a vintage "lady's") pen. thanks for the review and the added facial comments.
PFM ? No, PFW 😊
MONTEGRAPPA OWNS TIBALDI
it might be better to say that both brands are owned by the same family and possibly share some of the equipment (they share the showroom in Bassano).

Nice pen for women.
I have no idea why it has a whip/tassel. Unless it's there to distract from something. It could be helpful to chase off bad grammar or spelling. But still it's distracting us from...
It's a pen for women. It is a tail. My sister had them on her bicycle. What's the big deal?
No! ... just... NO!
