I love the bling of these pens, and though I hate spending $150+ for a steel nib, with this brand, I’ll make exceptions. They are gorgeous, it makes me happy to look at them, and they comfy to hold and are such smooth and reliable writers. I adore the big number 6 nib on the Euphoria and Talisman, and every time I take mine out, people notice and want a closer look, want to hold the pen and try writing with it. Benu also has excellent customer service.

I love Benu's courage to bring odd shapes and sparkle! Midas is my favourite of these. I'm still not convinced of the price, maybe some shop discounts will change my mind

Great timing! I was waiting for a review before ordering an astrogem to add to my Benu collection. I just wish you had compared it to a talisman or euphoria for perspective.

I only have a few pens by Benu, and I didn’t think I would be attracted to the new model; thank you for opening my mind with your review. The nebula colorway -Echo (?)-is quite the looker. Mal sehen!

This particular shape is not for me, but I love my Benu Sceptre VII with a #5 nib. It's a beautiful riot of colours! As to sheening inks: yes, I do find them a little more exacting in the nibs and papers they write best with. Wetter nibs generally better, and papers that aren't too smooth - even though smooth papers generally show off the sheen to advantage.

Thanks, finally a Bend pen that is more toned down for my taste. Love the astro theme, implemented. I’ll have to look into this further. Thanks for the review.

So cool that you’re accepting of Benu. Ok, so maybe your leanings may be a bit more conservative, but you’re absolutely SPOT ON-Benu is an original, and that cannot be denied!
    Nice review Stephen.

I have only one Benu, a Talisman Dragon's Blood that I have found to be an excellent writer.
Normally I have found their pens to be far too "blingy" for my taste. The Astrogem is one that has bling but not over the top. It is a life pen but looks like it would be an excellent writer and worth pursuing.
I would call the clip as a cantilever version.

    Greetings from Australia.
I was thinking, "Wonderful no reverse writing," and then you did it. All reviewers do it, and it is annoying.
I can't remember seeing the size in your hand, or you even mentioning the length. How was the length?

Does Benu do anything other than the space themed pens? That theme is not really much to my liking, what else do the offer?

I think it was Drew Brown and Brian Goulet who said that, if you wait long enough, there WILL be a Benu that you like, which I think is true. For me, that has sort of happened, but not quite. In essence, I wish they made a bigger version of the Talisman series. Just picture a Grande Talisman Four-leaf Clover...Twice as big, twice as lucky, right?

I love Benu. I have many many many of these. I just wish I would have seen your review before buying the Midas as I can tell it has that huge step down like the grand sceptor XI which I despise. I don't think i'm going to be happy with this pen.

I love Benu for their creative designs. The only reason why I do not own any Benu pen so far is the shape of the pens. If they would come up with some other shapes (maybe more "conservative" ones) but with the same innovative designs. I would probably be addicted to Benu and buy them all (so maybe it is good for my bank account, that I do not like the current shapes ? 🙄).

Not my favorite shape from Benu's lineup, but an interesting one nonetheless. A bit disappointed that it doesn't post more deeply given how much it tapers toward the back.

    Hi Stephen
You, said you like faceted pens.
Have you seen the new Leonardo dodeci?
    They keep taking my money!

Dodici (with i) means 12 in Italian, as 12 facets

I love Benu. I was so happy that they moved out of Russia at the start of the Ukrainian war. I have several and they all write very well and look gorgeous. Peacock Ore, Dragons Blood, Bourbon, and Springtime. They write beautifully as well. I want to make a statement with my pens. People have noticed and asked questions. Thanks for introducing me to the new ones Stephen.

Benu’s decision to relocate is one of the first things I knew about the company and me to look at their pens. I have a couple now, but am very tempted by these Astrogems, especially after your review.
      Thank you, Stephen!

They are original you have to give them that...still have to meet with a negative review by someone who bought a BENU... but there is still this tiny thiny voice saying "that's too much for your tastes" or to be completely honest "people will make fun of you"...
