    I just finished my first trip on the Appalachian Trail with this tent. While it could be lighter, it looks like it would hold better than most summer tents in winter.

    I have this tent. Not the lightest tent, but it's well built and holds up well. I bought a 10 liter stuff sack for my tent. This saves a lot of room in your pack. Poles stay in the pole bag and everything else in stuff sack.

    I just bought this tent today, to replace my bulky Kelty grand Mesa 2. I hope it saves some space in my pack over the Kelty. I wanted the UL version, but I talked to a good friend, and he pointed out that I’m not saving much weight, but sacrificing durability with thinner materials.
    I appreciate your detailed review, and I hope to get out to use my new marmot 1p tent soon.
    I’m a new subscriber to your channel as well.

      FishEyeGuy Outdoors thank you!
      It’s just my opinion, but I think that ultralight gear is a waste for section hikers like myself. That gear is generally much more costly, and while it does shave weight, is really only necessary for through hikers.
      I love my Marmot, and have spent countless nights in it now, and it still looks in just as a good a shape as it did when it was new. I do need to do some maintenance on it after years of use now though, because it is finally starting to leak. Unfortunately, with tents, it’s a matter of when, not if.
      Thanks again, and enjoy!

    Just bought this tent and after a few backcountry trips I love it, but I have one question. What does the small orange "tube" that comes in the stake or pole bag do? Also, what do the small three-holed plastic pieces do? Both of these items also came with my limelight 3p and I have yet to figure out what their job is. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

    • @TrailnameAce
      @TrailnameAce  4 года назад

      David Lewander the orange tube is likely to repair a pole in the event that it breaks, as I have seen on ultralight tents. Mine didn’t come with one. What three-holed plastic pieces are you referring to?

    • @AndyPober
      @AndyPober 2 года назад

      The plastic pieces are for trimming up the guylines. Tie the long end to the tent and put the loop around your stake. Adjust tje loop to take up slack.

    How long exactly is the pole bundle? Needs to fit in my bag.

    • @TrailnameAce
      @TrailnameAce  3 года назад

      I don’t put the tent in my pack, I strap it to the outside, so I don’t worry about the length. But the bundles come in at about 18”. Hope it helps!

    Been using one of these for 3 years now, happy with it overall. Only complaints are the weight and the blaze color. Wish they had the green one available at the time. I have come to loathe garish colored tents polluting unspoiled landscapes.

    • @TrailnameAce
      @TrailnameAce  6 лет назад +1

      SP97 I specifically go for the brighter colors, in the event that something happens... I want someone to be able to find me! :) I personally find the weight more than acceptable, compared to the weight savings of tents hundreds of dollars more. What tent do you you prefer? I’d love to check it out! Thanks for watching!

      I hear you Ace, everyone has their own preferences! For backpacking I've been using a Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo for the last year. 24 ounces for only $200, it's a great value. I have the typical problems with the silnylon stretching and absorbing water but otherwise I like it, it's huge for a solo tent. They changed the material this year to a polyester and I'm curious if it performs better than the nylon. I forgot to say earlier, great video!

      SP97 I’ll check it out! Thanks! Have you thought about a waterproofing spray?

    Does the back of the fly just lay flat against the mesh, or can you guy that out?. I've never seen a vid where it gets pulled away from the mesh body

    • @TrailnameAce
      @TrailnameAce  5 лет назад +1

      Quinn B that’s the part of the fly that didn’t come with a guy line, but has the loop. Once you add the line, it can be guyed out to provide more ventilation. On colder nights, I leave that part loose though, to help trap a little more warmth.

    How does this pack do in the rain?

    • @TrailnameAce
      @TrailnameAce  4 года назад +2

      Jazzmine Jackson you mean the tent? Like any other tent, it has the potential to lose its waterproofing after years of use. It didn’t show any signs of leakage for the first two and a half years of use, with over 100 day’s of actual use in that time.

    Easy set up. The tent reminds me of a hoop dress and bustle. Just saying.
