I’m a first time viewer. Great review! I don’t even need a tent (73yr old gramma), but you kept me interested, all the way to the end!!! I think the hay days of our country, may end for these huge companies who have taken advantage of their customers. You are starting a trend! “You don’t have to pay big bucks to get a quality product! I hope other great, small companies find you to do their reviews!! Good luck! I’m subscribing to help you out! 😉
Nice tent, good review. I want to give a shout out to all veterans since yesterday was veteran’s day. Last Sunday the priest at my church called all the veterans to the front, to honor us and sprinkle us with holy water., 8 guys and one woman out of the 200 in the church. Navy (me), Marines, Air Force and Army. were represented. We shook hands and people clapped, it was cool.
This is important, I wish to thank you for your reminder for the thumbs up. I'm 78 and the reminder is always welcome and more importantly it is needed. God bless.
Ok Luke, I have my tent set up same as yours outside. We are expecting 1-3 inches of rain and winds from9-30 mph in the next couple of days. Hopefully, we can compare test results. I have it guyed out for the expected wind. When I set it up, I also treated it with Permethrin if it all test out. I will be ready to use. Amendment; as I have not seen Lukes's update on this tent. I can add my testing with moderate rain 2" and 20+ winds. The tent did not leak, and I had only one minor issue and that was some sagging of the material. I can say in my opinion this backpacking tent is a keeper for a 3 season tent. I really like mine and the features. Oh, forgot I used a ground sheet under mine. Can't wait to hear what Luke comes up with.
That’s awesome that there’s a company out there doing it right & not gouging, hopefully it passes the waterproofing test thanks Luke for your time and effort.
So i was getting bored scrolling youtube videos and didnt know what to do with myself right now, then I saw your vid pop up. certainly happy about that!
Hello Luke! Here in Japan this tent manufacturer is quite popular, I just get this tent I early summer, but it’s looks like in the US is a little bit more expensive than here in Japan, I really like it, the Zippers brand are SBS (the Chinese YKK like) the 3 or 4 seasons thing it looks like a thing of the person in charge of the description, here is advertised as 3 season tent, the only down for me is the strings of fabric to fix the fly sheet to the poles, I will prefer Velcro instead of fabric, everything else at just great!
WOW!!! I am VERY impressed! I will be purchasing this tent if it passes waterproof. Thank you! I am so happy for the price. I really like the design. Space for 2. Love the color
I bought the last MC Tomount tent based upon TOGR’s favorable review and it lived up to the praise it received. I’d be interested in hearing a comparison of the sizes of the two tents, as my only issue with the first one is its rather large storage size. It takes up a lot of space in my pack. Thanks, Luke for the super helpful channel.
I just completed wind and water testing on my tent and had no issues it was water proof. Only thing was some sagging, but when you have been rained on for over two days straight, I expected that to happen. I love the tent, I'm keeping it.
@SmithandWesson22A 200-250, my post is higher as outer suburbs but could be cheaper. Up to 270 for 2 person. Most of these smaller tents are 500+au that get reviewed here or they don't even post here
I had a custom made tent made by bear paw wilderness designs. I'm 6' 7", so you can see the delema. The companies lie about there measurements. They are always smaller. The tent is had made is a dyneema inner. Mesh, doors, 8" bathtub. 52" by 8' inner. Ripstop poly outer. Full front vestibule, birds beak rear for packs. $600 bucks. John is the owner in Colorado. Top top quality. Took about 5 weeks to recieve
Wow....very impressive and at a great price. I think the fabric on the top should help with durability as this is where most of the stress is. I think it should be mentioned that the vents also have loops where a tie out could also be added if the need should arise. Though it was obvious, it is worth mentioning it is a two-door tent with equal vestibules that seem generous in size. The shape of the top of the tent should not allow any pooling of water whatsoever. How generous is the storage bag and how easy or hard was it to repack the tent? I love the way it is constructed with the compression straps built in and on their own flaps. Looks to be near perfect.
Giving Teton Mountain Ultra tents a run for their money now at that price point. Can't wait for the waterproof test. I love the earth tone color over the Teton "here I am, look at me!" colors.
Nice for in the valley on the mountain under snow color counts ,on a glacier easy to find lol. No im not Hilary scaling Everest. Sorry didn’t mean to criticize. Made in USA means extra money sadly.
@@jaredstewmelt The Amazon page describes it as being 53" wide. This could be a real bargain. It would be like a 2-person version my my LiteFighter tent.
Thank you for the review. This obviously a lot of tent to the price. I use a Big Agnes C Bar 2 which is twice the price. However, the BA uses an exoskeleton and no sleeves which is nice setting up or taking down in a down pour.
Another great review. Saaaaweeet tent. I have the other one and really like it. For me, this one would not replace that one. Although its 4 lbs lighter, and has better stakes its not worth the cost increase for me. I do definitely agree, Tomount makes awesome tents. Can't wait for the testing.
Great review !!! Love ur channel !!! Question ? Would it be possible to get a review for a canvas tent or two, would be awesome to see a good review for a tent that often gets overlooked with so many nylon tents on the market ? Just an idea. :)
I bought the original version right after your rain test and evaluation. This new version has similar floor space and design with one major difference, we'll two. The head room has been cut in nearly half between the two doors. So the square footage can't be the same. The vestibule doors are different. Having the awning type door gave you some options that the new doors have taken away. Perhaps if they gave back one of the awnings? I'm glad they are back in spite of this. Had they added one more section to the poles they could have provided better head space and I like the new stakes much more. I wish I could find one more of the original tents.
Great job as always. I am curious about the corner to corner length. As a single hiker it looks all my gear could easily fit sleeping diagonally. Looks very promising. Thank you again
My old Coleman tent let me down early this year. A very windy rainstorm came through the campground and left a small pond in the bottom of my tent. I like the room a 3 person tent, but "no leaking" is first on my list right now as I look for a replacement.
I’m not trying to be a jerk but you’ve given this tent very high praises without ever sleeping in it one night. How’s the condensation, does the nylon stretch when wet, how fast does it dry when wet, how well will the zippers hold up? This is like me reviewing a Big Mac without taking a bite.
apparently your not a regular viewer. Luke has years of experience and he can eyeball a tent looking for specific items and tell whether it will pass or fail. If you do something long enough you learn to know what to look for that will indicate if it will pass or not. He also as he stated a few months back test another tent from this company and it passed with flying colors and this tent has met his eye ball test so this should hold true for a pass as well
Go ahead and unsub. Eating a burger is not the same as inspecting the function of a tent though. One you put in your mouth, the other, you sleep in. If you know the materials and the general design functions, there's no need to sleep in it. He also noted the vent features too...
Questioning the quality of a product doesn’t make you a jerk it makes you a smart buyer. I was thinking about the same things you mentioned as well. If the tent holds up well in inclement weather it would be a great buy but a sunny day review doesn’t make me convinced.
There are tons of tents out there so I wouldn't just start asking why don't you try this one but I love versatility. I've always said "versatility is the key to adversity" so when the Sea to Summit Telos tr2 came out I was very interested. Would love to get a review from you. They also have a double wall sleeping pad I have heard good things about.
Hi 👋🏿 it's your new-ish subscriber from Birmingham UK here. I was waiting very patiently for this review since your last one of the car tent. This one seems really good I see a few differences with this tent compared to it's car tent counterpart, and I absolutely love the look, colour, design and features of it. Given the fact that I am in the UK the weather over here is mostly always cold windy, rainy sometimes rain and thunderstorms tbh I like a tent that isn't totally covered in mesh, that has leak proof decent vents a high HH, and adjustable rain fly tigh out straps. I would prefer the outer fly and inner to be in tact together without having to pitch the inner first like some cheap tents like; OEX Phoxx's, the vangos and the Geertop bivvy tents because again, the British weather is not forgiving. So in terms of his tent you're reviewing here, I love the fact the bath tub floor has a high amount of fabric all the way around so that my head sides and feet are not attacked by breeze especially on those cold nights. I absolutely love the brown colour I love the two large doors, that most of the inner is mesh, that it's got a good ventilation system, and it's huge vestibule space wow what a cracking 2person tent I would love to buy it for sure. Right now on Amazon in British UK money (£pound sterling) it is; £160 which isn't all that bad. I absolutely love your reviews and test out videos you and your wife are amazing at what you do with the camping outdoors community awesome 👍🏿❤
Damn! Just bought my first backpacking tent! I ended up going with the Alps Lynx one man tent for a bit less than this one. The Lynx one man is heavier (1 lb. heavier and smaller) than this 2 man tent - but I like robust equipment. I'll keep this one in mind if the Lynx doesn't work out.
That's a buy if it passes waterproofing. As far as being a fourth season, I'd buy that....the design doesn't look like snow loading would be an issue, and in the cold, a mesh or fabric inner isn't going to make too much difference unless you're just sitting in it, I mean let's be real, your sleep system is what needs to retain heat and be fourth season cold air proof. All that airflow will prevent condensation ice walls in the inner as well.
I have the two person car tent you reviewed previously, it works great. It replaced my larger vehicle tent (original Gazelle T3) and it is a far better fit for my jeep. While I miss being able to mostly stand up, it was a small price to pay for a more compact (and usable) 2 person tent. I am curious to see how this new model does with the rain test.
Nice review luke. Could you please give time for 1 person tent from tomount? A trekking pole tent. Wanted to buy thus one in amazon but there's no review about this. Thanks im advance
Great review thank you. I'm looking for a new tent this could be the one. I also saw on amazon that they have a bigger 3 to 4 person tent at $230 have you seen that one?
To be fair to those USA companies that you are throwing shade at, this 2-person tent is listed at 4.4 pounds. That is much heavier than what outdoor gear consumers expect from backpacking tents, and the prices reflect that weight/material difference. Most people are looking for backpacking tents that are closer to 2 pounds. This product competes in the newbie or once-a-year backpacker market.
Looks ok. I have an ALPS mountaineering Lynx 2, one person tent. I took mine down the Paria Canyon through hike. Was very windy. I’d want to know the quality of those poles. What kind of aluminum???
Amazon currently has 2 slightly different versions of this tent one is identical to this one and it runs $159.00 the other version has higher bathtub floor sides and the poles cross at the center. I didn't see any other differences other than this version is only $69.99 both versions state that they are for backpacking.I myself plan on buying both tents. Maybe Luke would be willing to also purchase the other version to test out as well.
Please don't forget insulation when estimating usable length. This author's main 3-season bag requires 5.5" insulation at the top and 5.5" at the foot, making a 6'6" sleeper effectively 7'5" long. But it's actually worse than that, because of height off the ground. Sleeping on a 3.5" pad and adding 12" feet-height (or 11" head diameter, plus 5" pillow) means that a tent's length can't be taken at ground-level, rather at 20" or so agl (above-ground-level). Since tents angle inward from the head and foot ends, the usable length is reduced by the height-agl of the lying-flat sleeper. Almost no commercially available backpacking-tent is long enough for a 6'6" hiker, except maybe a Durston 2P when sleeping angled to the long corners.
47" wide at the floor is not enough space for 2 sleeping pads once you account for vertical space. Even IF folks are only using 20" pads, that's ~3.5" on either side by the doors IF both pads are shoved together. And THEN you are losing a couple inches of width/length in your living space as you are raised up higher off the ground by the pads. I'm kind of over sub 50" wide tents with aggressive narrowing of the body as they taper to the ceiling claiming to be 2 person tents. This is a tent for 1 person plus their gear.
Just another generic white box 3S 2P from Shenzhen. A la Mongar 2 that for $93 I paid haven't found materially better value. Good to know there are options out there. Might be good for taller folks.
Looks like a great tent. Would I buy it for use in England, sadly no. While the mesh interior is good for where you live, it is no good for England, it is too cold here most of the time. That's a shame. I've noticed there is a tent with the same name but cross over poles on Temu at half the price. Possibly a case of buyer beware.
You think it's like a naturehikes or ? I loved my 2 p naturehike but the poles were bad design and the rubberband broke inside an i couldn't order just poles.
Hi Luke, love your work!! Long time subscriber here. What are these things called feet and inches you speak of? You used to show metric for the rest of the world. Why did you stop? From Australia. I’m 63 years old and we converted to metric in the 1960s PS I’m 0.0091962936451126 furlong tall so I’m not sure if I’ll fit this tent
I’m looking at Amazon and there’s one green for $59. Or the brown for $135. The only difference I see is the green is almost a pound heavier and the brown says nylon Anyone know what’s up?
Any tent can be a 4-season tent if it's waterproofed. People literally sleep under a tarp only or in a hammock/tarp setup in the winter. No one says a thing. You can sleep in any tent during the winter with the proper gear.
If it passes the rainstorm and high wind test it seems it would be an excellent bargain , thanks Luke ! ! !
I have a tent with similar pole design and the fly holds water on top. I'd be curious to see how this one does!

A Plus. Cool Color. Looks Good. Looking forward to the rain test. Great Video Brother Luke.

So far, looks like a good tent for the price point. Waiting to see the rain review.
Yes indeed. Thank you . 😊
Thank you so much for your continued honesty on products.,

Looks like a super great budget tent that looks like a more expensive one.
Wow....very impressive and at a great price. I think the fabric on the top should help with durability as this is where most of the stress is. I think it should be mentioned that the vents also have loops where a tie out could also be added if the need should arise. Omgosh so funny! I don't even camp😅
Looking forward to your review. I need a pack back tent for our horseback camping trips.

47" wide doesn't quite give you the room needed for two 25" pads that have become somewhat standard in the backpacking community.
Yes! Thank you. As soon as he said 47", I completely checked out.
@@jaredstewmelt The Amazon page describes it as being 53" wide. This could be a real bargain. It would be like a 2-person version my my LiteFighter tent.
Bathtub floor about 4" to tall, cuts back on air flow but does offer a bit of privacy when not using the fly.

Almost no commercially available backpacking-tent is long enough for a 6'6" hiker, except maybe a Durston 2P when sleeping angled to the long corners.
Everybody needs to read this comment.
Very similar to MSR Elixir but half the price. Interesting.
What do you suggest for bug out gear? Just take off and go
47" wide at the floor is not enough space for 2 sleeping pads once you account for vertical space.
Not a bad looking tent. If U camped in a tent that would be great. Lots if room for me, I'm 5"2' so tons of room for me.
2 vents can be closed while inside? You usually mention this unless I missed it.....possible.
if it has 2 doors was there another opening for back door with the fly on?
Zippers manufacture and quality ??
Which do you prefer, this tent or the one Tigris cosmitto 2.0?
Kinda reminds me of my litefighter.
Maybe from a distance while squinting.
Is it rain proof?
Looks like a great tent. Would I buy it for use in England, sadly no. While the mesh interior is good for where you live, it is no good for England, it is too cold here most of the time. That's a shame. I've noticed there is a tent with the same name but cross over poles on Temu at half the price. Possibly a case of buyer beware.
It's a oex racoon
You think it's like a naturehikes or ? I loved my 2 p naturehike but the poles were bad design and the rubberband broke inside an i couldn't order just poles.
Hi Luke, love your work!!
Long time subscriber here.
What are these things called feet and inches you speak of? You used to show metric for the rest of the world. Why did you stop?
From Australia. I’m 63 years old and we converted to metric in the 1960s
PS I’m 0.0091962936451126 furlong tall so I’m not sure if I’ll fit this tent
Am I right in thinking the one person version looks like it goes up fly first as pole tunnels are on the fly not inner
If you had to choose only one, which tent would you choose? OneTigris Cosmitto 2 or the MC TOMOUNT 2?
Should I wait for the storm test before buying this???
yes
Thank you for the video. Start searching already to buy one.
I’m looking at Amazon and there’s one green for $59. Or the brown for $135. The only difference I see is the green is almost a pound heavier and the brown says nylon
Anyone know what’s up?
Polyester vs nylon
You are blowing my bank account away.
Any tent can be a 4-season tent if it's waterproofed. People literally sleep under a tarp only or in a hammock/tarp setup in the winter. No one says a thing. You can sleep in any tent during the winter with the proper gear.
please do some bigger tents that you can stand up in.
Now I see there is a nylon model and a polyester model
Looking at it as is, it appears to be exactly the wrong colour to blend in with the Autumn leaves !
I love how Americans have retained inches and feet, pounds and ounces, yards and miles.
Imagine not being able to do conversions in your head in the 21st century. We use both here. Thank the English for the illogical Imperial system.

Looks like a take/ copy of the OEX Racoon
