Thank you for this review! Video reviews like this are the only way you can learn about some "features" on a tent. Like, I knew it has a head and foot section but having completely different size vestibules was something I never even knew was a thing on this tent.
Thanks for doing this review. Marmot makes good quality gear for a reasonable price. I have a Marmot EOS 1p that I've been very happy with. I've had it heavy rain and never had a leak. My only complaint is that it is small and a tight fit. This tent isn't that much heavier and the new version may be even lighter. I'm looking at doing the PCT SOBO in 2026 so this tent may be the way to go.
I've had the regular version for about the same amount of time. Got it to replace a worn out but discontinued Kelty Gunnison. Most of my camping is done with my motorcycle, so weight and packed size aren't as critical as backpacking but still important. After watching your video I may have to get the UL and give the other one to my granddaughters, they love it when I buy new gear lol.
@@MrSilentliu I just used a piece of extra guy line I had and stitched back and forth across it on my sewing machine. I probably should have added a little grosgrain under it to stiffen the material a bit but so far this is working.
It is advisable to seal the joints where the loops are attached with AQUA-seal-sure. Then it will be completely waterproof regardless of rain and weather
Great review I never had one of those tents but good to hear about your experience with the storm and rain. I made a similar experience with my lanshan. Yes I seal mine too. Great tent.
I bought a Lanshan 1 person last year for kayak camping and sealed the pull out tabs on the head and foot end. I tried it out on the Pinhoti in some rain and they still leak so I'll need to redo that. Thanks for watching!
Great review. I am looking at getting the Fortress ul 3p tent and wanted your opion on it vs the UL 2P and regular versions. I already own the Marmot Force ul 2P&3P so this is for the shoulder season for sure but might even get rid of one of my Force tents since their is overlapping functions. Thanks for the review again 👍
Thanks for watching! I haven't seen the Fortress in person but what I looked at online looks very much like the Tungsten but better for colder weather. I like the higher fabric on the interior walls that would block any cold winds. Of course the weight would make it kind of heavy for backpacking long distances but split between two people it would be fine. Would make a great car camping tent as well.
Hi. Thanks for the review :) I have a couple of questions, please. 1. I'm considering this tent for a year backpacking in South America, where I'll be doing some multi-day hikes/treks in Patagonia and in the Andes. Do you think it would be up to the task? 2. Does light brownish mesh allow you to see the stars clearly when stargazing at night-time?
MyLady... This is the best review I've seen on YT about this tent. But without a footprint, did it hold? And do you still have it? I've use this tent in very harsh environments so I had to have a footprint
@@harryhthenorwegian476 I use a footprint I made from tyvek. I use footprints with all my tents because I want to protect them. I know some people don't but I do. I still have the tent and it's doing well.
I don't understand why so many experienced tenters don't understand the fact that any new tent MUST be prepared before first use. Impregnation with nikwax should be done before each season, also on the underside of the floor. I also seal the seams of the rain fly with AQUA-SURE-SEAL where all loops are attached because during heavy rain water will always leak in there. AND it doesn't matter how expensive your tent is because this applies to ALL tents. And a footprint is of course an absolute necessity. Extra Weight, what. I mean about 200 grams? Are you kidding me? So why are people so dull?
You prefer a polyester tent? I'm on the fence about it vs ripstop nylon. I have the mongar2. Only used it once but it rained pretty good. No leaks but it got pretty loose.
I prefer the polyester because of the saggy tendencies of nylon. I had a silnylon hammock tarp that would sag with a heavy dew and I couldn't stand it. I keep reading over and over the nylon will absorb more water which adds to pack weight but I'm not sure exactly how much more it holds. The Marmot tent is polyester and even through lots of rain it remained tight. I'm curious to see how the Luxe does in the rain.
Had mine since 2019 and every time I look at another 2 person tent that gives me the room as this tent it is either the same weight (so why bother) or so friggin expensive that I won't even consider it.
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- 2x3m - 120g, that's not extra weight 🙂It's common sense to use a footprint to protect the floor of your tent 😀 Have a great hiking 🙂
Had mine for five years now and still love it!
It's a great tent!
Me too, with a homemade footprint 😀

It's definitely my go to tent when I need more room than a 1 person tent. Thanks for dropping in!

Ha, ha! Your grands will probably start making new gear suggestions just to get your old gear. That's awesome!
Looking at this myself for a motorcycle tent torn between it and the big Agnes blacktail 2p
At that price, no one can beat it, period!
I just now bought this tent and I've watched all your videos about it. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and happy camping!
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- How did you make the loops on the rainfly? Is it easy? I think it is good to add the two loops before a long wet hike.

That tent is awesome, we use to spray our tents with water proof, and that helps
Yeah, I usually use Nikwax at the beginning of each hiking season. So far it is doing well.
I am about to do a Marmot Halo 4. I just bought my second Halo 4 after 12 years of my first.
I love their ruggedness. Great line of tents.

Curious, what do you use to water proof ur tent?
I've been using a Nikwax product called Tent and Gear Cleaning, Waterproofing, and UV Protection and so far have had no problems.
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- thanks. Only used it once so far but proves to probably be a nice life long tent.

The shit is that this tent is delivered without a footprint, but I solved that quickly and cheaply. I sure really need a footprint
@@harryhthenorwegian476 I agree that most tents need a footprint. I'll carry a little extra weight for that protection.
