Another dashcam driving tour video. Day 22 of the Spring 2022 Roadtrip. My first ever visit to a Texas border town. Travel in real speed throughout the Western USA.
That sounds like it would be fun, as long as not in the summer months. The desert fascinates me for some reason, the wide open spaces with great views must be why. So looking forward to getting back down south this winter :)
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing depends on the time of day. The night can get cold. I used to to stop and find shelter around mid day until evening. Got the make the best of the daylight. Trekking and night has it's risks.
This little town is tiny but you can get what you need. Also the only fast food chain is a Subway! Stayed ten months in presidio at loma paloma rv park. Big bend is a must to see!!!
It looked super peaceful and scenic. My perspective at the time I drove through though was it was so isolated and didn't seem to have the services I had expected. It has so much potential in my opinion, just needs some new development :)
I went to Mexico a few months back, and after over 8+ hours on the road, I wanted something more than gas station food. I pulled over and asked one of the locals if there was a McDonald’s and they just laughed haha. That Subway was very appreciated 😂
I am from NYC (not originally but I have been here for about 15 years) & I have always hated how densely populated and dirty it is., small towns, deserts, mountains and the likes have always caught my attention. Hopefully one day I have the opportunity to live somewhere where I don't have to interact with a lot of people lol
Very well said! I used to like cities mainly because of the food and nightlife, now that I am older neither of those are high on my list of needs. I like the solitude of nature and slow pace of the little towns, not only are they cheaper in all aspects but the bad traffic is also not there :)
Last visited Marfa about 6 yrs ago. I have family, the Franco’s my mother s cousin has the middle school named after her Lucy Rede Franco.Cousin were out of town. Did visit a cousin at Redford,Tx.
I apologize if I offended the people who have trolled this video, unfortunately I do not engage in hateful comments. I expected more from this town since it is so isolated and far from any big city. It is sad to see so many abandoned buildings and boarded up windows in any town or city, it represents dreams lost and is usually associated with population decline. This town has a lot of potential, some nice motels and restaurants with outdoor seating would be a huge boom to the economy!
I was Wikipedia’ing small towns and this was one I found. As someone born and raised in nyc, I’m super interested in small towns. Theres a peacefulness, but eeriness surrounding these places, but on the upside the sidewalks look super clean!
"Pretty Rough" lol. Looks like heaven to me.
The 3 block downtown was very rough, almost a ghost town. The surrounding area is beautiful.
Me nobody is outside
I grew up in presidio. Used to treck deep into the desert.

It is Beautiful and CLEAN!!
This is the town my family crossed the border back in 1917 through. Crqzy
I don't think it has changed much since then :)

How was that RV park? I'm considering retiring retiring in about a year down there
They used to ship a lot of cattle from Mexico through Presidio a lot of feed lots.”
Ahh, that explains the decline once the import of cattle dried up.
Wow thats where i live!
Do you like it? You are so far from any big city!
cool
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing there is Al Paso near and Chihuahua
i have heard of it they say it is pretty calm and super hot
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing haha yes, very long trip just to a big city😅

Nice, I like that area, hope you get back soon. The best Tres Leches Cake at the local gas station!
Doesn't seem any different than Barstow California.
Thanks for the video! I’m about to drive through and your video helped me get an idea of what to expect!
You are welcome :)

Presidio is a hot spot crossing drugs wet backs everybody knows everyone.
Of course trashy ass dollar stores on every corner.
I like going to dollar stores when I am traveling, they are usually the only thing in the area. I also like truck stops and gas station food!
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing dollar stores are terrible for the American economy. Do some research and you’ll most likely never walk in another one.
Hated that shit lol the schools are even more fucked up.
It's a solid marketing plan to serve places without a huge Walmart type store.
Just the one gas station ?
I think it had 2, the one was very nice and big with a good store.

Very true, abandoned buildings can be creepy!
