I appreciate the time taken to make this video. There are a lot of Jeep haters commenting on this video which makes no sense to me. He is talking about Jeeps towing and not comparing Jeeps to how other vehicles tow. I tow with my Jeep Wrangler and now with my Gladiator. The longer wheelbase is nicer and I get the vehicle I want to take on the beach. I use a rear Bluetooth camera on my trailer and it gives me a great view. I also use the sway bars to assist with the handling. Works awesome on the Jeep and I am sure will do the same on the Gladiator.

Thanks a lot, Andre. Came for the Mojave, left with a Glyder Gen-Y tow hitch for my Wrangler Willys.
Had a first test drive with it yesterday: indeed, it makes towing rides feel like a breeze. That 6" drop option is the actual secret weapon.

That GenY hitch looks very promising! Glad to see Gladiator can capably tow even with the old-style 3.6. Once they offer the 3.0 diesel (you know they will) it’ll be an even better all-around truck. Thanks again Andre!

Andre, why don’t you put a dab of grease on your ball? I’ve always made sure I had a little dab of something slick before I couple it up. That way my tow balls don’t get all rusty or flakes off the chrome. Maybe it’s just me because I’m used to a bit more weight, but it always tracks a lot smoother in the turns.

  • @davidkoeppen3121

I would not use the auto stop start feature while towing. Ford trucks are disabled during tow mode because when a trucks engine and transmission heat up during towing it's better to let the fluids circulate to help maintain and or reduce those temperatures while idling. That's why it's always best to let your engine continue to run after you have finished towing until the temps return to normal operating conditions in order to prevent temperature spikes after shut down and metals within the engine and exhaust manifold to cool down more uniformly which can prevent head stud breakage. It seems like we have extra long stop lights in florida which can lead to up to two minutes of heat spike conditions and if you add continual stop start scenarios damage could occur. Just my two cents.

I believe a factory turbo charger option would be bought on over 2/3 of all gladiator sales and well worth the expenditure for jeep to bring to the market. Also, a long range gas tank option of another 10 - 15 gal, preferably under the right side, but in the spare tire location would be nice . The spare could easily be refitted to a mount in the cargo bed.

I'm still not sold on hitches with suspension or damping in them. More moving parts just give you more points of failure and they move the ball further away from the truck increasing the leverage from the trailer tongue weight. It is kind of sad that the trailer and Prodigy brake control are the only offrodable things in the video.

I have no problem with the video. But to me this is more about how the Gen-Y hitch works/improves more than how the vehicle actually does towing. I know Gen-Y sponsors the videos. But I think it would be better for the viewers and sponsors if it said “here’s how this truck does normally towing at these kind of weights, but here’s how it can be improved with Gen-Y’s new hitch”. Do two different towing comparisons. I know it takes more time to film and edit. But it made it less about the Mojave addition and how it tows, to how to improve it. You even said it yourself at the end how much the hitch made a difference at the end. How does the added hitch allow it to compare to the other additions of the gladiator and light duty trucks you have compared this far.

If you’re not going to lift or otherwise modify, this would be the way to go, otherwise if you’re lifting for 37s, you’re going to have to change out to a longer stroke shock which to me negates the purpose and price of the Mojave. It’s like the difference between the TRD Off Road and TRD Pro, if you’re going to lift and modify the TRD OR is a financially better buy since the only mechanical difference is the shocks (and color availability).
Brilliant package from the factory, not the Best Buy financially for the modifier.

Good job Komoradskii,What about the amount of body lift at the front axle?Does this even factor into the axle and weight distribution equation?Staying shut in make my mind wander...

kidamer E I know at least 2 people that have gladiators towing under capacity that have frame damage one no mods everything still factory and one with the only mods being a vehicle wrap , a trailer hitch mounted Wilco tire carrier with drop hitch and bed frame mount for a pop up tent . It’s not just Jeep though some of the new Colorado’s are having the same issues under load not even close to towing capacity . I’m particularly concerned because I stay up on my rubicon maintenance and I’ve been thinking of trading for a base model gladiator I want to modify mildly . 1 of the people I go drive trails and camp with was lucky enough to have his fixed but I believe that was only because he hadn’t started any of his projects he had planned for it yet ,and I’ve had a few recalls on my wrangler for death wobble and cracked welds already taken care of but I also hadn’t added anything besides a winch or I could’ve found myself at the mercy of if the dealership or if they felt kind or might determine if something is fixed under warranty or not just worried if i wanna buy a cheaper model and benefit from cheaper aftermarket mods I might screw myself with warranty fixes in the future

Yeah bent frames coming off the gladiator and the Colorados Tacoma is God awful towing if I bought a midsized truck sadly it would have to be a ranger and I left a eco boost lemon 2012 model in 2016 for a ram 1500 but all honesty just buy a full-size same prices in today good economy and everyone who rides in back will thank you 8 to 10 speed trans is helping even with bigger tires

Why would you ever have a Mojave and a RZR? they do almost the same thing. The RZR is just worth its price. Also why have a 4 seater RZR when your truck will max out its payload with that trailer, gear and 2 adults. Seems silly to tow with a truck that you cant put anything more than 2 people in with a trailer before its maxed out.
