      I’m sure u know some of this already but each disc has numbers even tho some don’t print it on the disc you can find it online! Quick tip that I learned from throwing some of my friends discs! If you throw around 270-300 feet max try a “blizzard plastic” (makes the disc super light) disc by innova! I have a innova krait in that plastic and it’s 141g 11/ 5 / -1 / 2. The disc flies with such glide and power but it’s easy to get that speed because of the weight! For me I can throw it around 320-350ft. I suggest trying it out! They got some more as well in this plastic! Have fun out on the course bro

      @@PoloZ34 Most bigger manufacturers make lightweight discs. Prodigy, Dynamic Disc, Latitude etc. Discraft doesn't have many of those. Discmania has those too.
      I ditched Innova many years ago, because you never know what you get when you buy Innova. Very inconsistent. You buy two from the same mold and they fly totally differently. With that arm speed, I recommend to try Latitude's Sapphire if you like lighter discs. For the woods, e.g. Dynamic Discs Breakout for hyzerflips and controlled drives.

    Discs don’t flip instantly. No matter how flippy it is, it still takes 40-50feet for the thing to actually turn.

    Wow, wow , and wow ! Brodie this video is the answer to my new discs purchases. Ever since l have been playing the only disc that flys good for me are putters or some midranges . Now I’m going to use your advise and watch this over again a couple times and see if l can be successful throwing my stable and unstable drivers . I like how you explain and show us what works for you and that is a good starting point for me to work on and start using those discs that have stayed in the cart because l wasn’t sure how to throw them. Wanted also to thank Paul McBeth for being your mentor and l really enjoyed watching you and him play rounds together this year. Proud of you and please keep the videos coming, Dark Horse rules!!

    One other thing to note is even if you had two brand new discs that are the same mold, plastic, and weight, sometime their shape isn't the same, also affecting the flight. This is due to the manufacturing process not being 100% identical between every disc. Sometimes the discs of the same mold will have more or less dome or different nose angle. This is why you see desirable 'runs' of discs. This can be frustrating for new players because it means that you could have two seemingly identical discs that don't fly the same. BUT! This is a blessing in disguise. If there is a mold you absolutely love the feel in your hand and the flight, finding multiple with different shapes can improve your confidence with different types of shots.

    One way to explain that really helped me was:
    Stable = flies straight
    Overstable = fight towards the direction your body is facing when you throw
    Understable = fight against the direction your body is facing when you throw
    The faster you throw a disc the more unstable it becomes
    The slower you throw a disc the more overstable it becomes

    Good video overall but there were three points I was hoping would get covered that didn't that impact stability.
    1. Elevation change (throwing uphill or downhill impacts the speed which impacts the stability)
    2. Weather (impacts on Air Density)
    3. Altitude (impacts on Air Density)

    as a new 62 year old disc golfer I really enjoyed the way you explained all of this. I was throwing "nose up" the first few months, but found a double row of trees ( 12 foot gap ) with very low ceiling ( 6 feet ) and solved my problem by throwing under those low ceiling branches and developed that "muscle memory". What are your thoughts on the sport of disc golf ( Pro Tour ) being community owned? Like the Green Bay Packers?? I am hearing rumors online that they are having financial difficulties??

  • @jeffprice9105
    @jeffprice9105 3 года назад +3

    Great video - Thanks Brodie! - That really helps to confirm what I've learned as well and covers a ton of ground. Maybe one thing maybe not covered enough was the weight of the disc and how that affects the speed of the disc which then affects stability. So you throw a heavy disc and lighter disc with the same power the lighter disc is going to have more speed and will turn more but it will also be affected more by the wind. At your level I'm sure you are probably at max weight for everything but for those of us that don't have as much power as you its helpful to have some lighter discs in the bag that will allow us to throw the disc fast enough with less power and get a full flight out of the disc.

    • @stephenrosenthal5252
      @stephenrosenthal5252 3 года назад

      Honestly I'm not sure a lighter disc flies faster. Although you may be able to pull your arm around a touch faster. But then again we are talking a difference of 25 grams and that is if you are throwing a 150gm.
      Ideally a heavy disc has more inertia but is affected by gravity more.
      A lighter disc would be opposite.
      The lighter disc would certainly be affected by wind but also just air resistance.
      The discs being the same shape would have the same aerodynamics. But cutting through the air a lighter disc may have more trouble with and feel more resistance.
      I throw mix of Max and lighter weight discs. What I noticed and I don't exactly know why is that lighter weight discs allow you to get more of the full flight of the disc.
      But not always resulting in longer distances. Although sometimes LOL.

    I'm sure this is already in the works but a video comparing your throwing forms (backhand and forehand) would be great, from your first couple tournaments to now. Explaining what you were told to change and also how you made those changes. Also how someone without as much support as you can recognize and evaluated the things we need to change in our own form.

    Quite a cool video, but what is missing is why some of the features affect the disc the way they do. That would be very interesting!

    I can't for the life of me to get my shots to go right, seems like whatever I do they always go left. So this video makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
