KEEP SLINGING THEM DISCS!!!
My Perfect Putt 360 video coming tomorrow!
Brodie: actively tries to miss putt
Brodie: trick shot off the wall
@Brodie Smith Where can I get one of those target nets in your garage with the yellow cut outs? Also what brand is it?
Tristan Tanner challenged you and others in “diff type of throws total distance”, thought it would be real if you did! These vids help this quarantine life soooo much, appreciate your work.
@@calvintaylor7235
Here is the net you were asking about. They also have various other types. sklz.implus.com/products/football/football-nets/sklz-quickster-qb-trainer
Jay Miller thank you. Much appreciated.
The teaching is just packed so well in under 20 minutes. So much to learn and now so much to train!! Well done Brodie
Brodie: "Get as many putters as i could"
*pulls out 50 aviars
Me: *looks over at my starter set
Well he plays for Discraft so he wouldn't be throwing Aviars but it is kind of crazy how many discs he has even when he starting.
@@dhfix86 thanks dave i never would have known.
I know it's so crazy how he's just like get as many as you can and I'm like I can't just buy 100 like you can.
I had the exact same thought. "Ok so I have my one putter... " I see a lot of walking back and forth from the basket in my future.
If you have low speed midranges you could also try to putt with them
I've been playing disc golf for 17 years and this is one of the best putting videos I've seen, if not the best. And I'm always searching for them! Keep up the great content Brodie and keep slingin' them discs
This is the exact approach disc golf needs from it's most influential talking head we've ever seen.
Thanks Bro.
is Bro short for Brodie?! :D
@@ECONservativemba yes
This was far and away the best video he’s ever made.
I couldn't agree more!
I have adopted the scoober for all high wind situations and it has saved my short game. Thanks for bringing that shot into the mainstream of disc golf.
@Some Person all of those situations are escape shots or specialty shots. He used it to drain a regular putt. That's what I meant.
Love this advice. When I first started, everyone told me to step away after every putt, reset, etc. I did putting games with two putters and you have to make both in order to advance (to simulate pressure). I was okay at putting, never super confident. I played a round with my state's champion in leagues and asked him what to work on with my putting. He said my stroke seemed inconsistent. Told me to grab all the putters I could find and bang out 100 putts in a row from 15 feet, trying to hit the same spot every time. I went from ~30% at 25ft to 75% in like a week. My confidence in my ability to hit metal in C1 skyrocketed, and my form feels natural and consistent. I still play a 2-disc putting game to simulate pressure, but cranking out mechanically identical putts over and over for muscle memory is *good*.
Yeah, the whole "make it like a real putt" thing is like telling a musician "no don't practice scales, practice going on stage and playing a whole concert every time"
wolfgang klassen you need both
Hey Brodie, please do a forehand tutorial. After watching you do the Simon challenge, I was blow away at the consistency of your mid-range forehands. I can't throw one for anything and you teach in a way that makes sense to me. Thanks for the content and for bringing so many new eyes to disc golf.
It’s a pleasure watching you learn and helping others to do the same. Pulling for ya, Brodie!
I have followed your journey and the one thing that has impressed me the most is your putting. I have played for three years already and I am not even close to your consistency. And I do practice almost every day. I have no idea how you have made that happen.
Helps if Paul Mcbeth is your teacher but yeah still very impressive
Näi se on itelläkin tosin vielä muutana vuosi enemmän pelattu
It's probably more helpful that he played ultimate fribee forever, and was a 2 time collegiate champion.
never played disc golf but you have made me so interested in trying it out!!! I can tell you have so much passion for the competition
Bro you will love it.
This is the reason you transitioning to disc golf is awesome. Grow the sport!
@@davidnapier1269 find a local course and give it a try! It is the best casual sport you can find
@@charles2327 I've been playing for 7 years lol. I just appreciate Brody bringing his following to disc golf!
@@davidnapier1269 lol sorry, meant to reply to OP that had never played
Thank you for this video Brodie!!! I can drive for show, but can’t putt to save my life... needed these tips for sure!!
I love how you admit that you just started disc golf a few months ago and don't act like you're one of the best out there AND you give credit to the professionals who have been playing for awhile.
@SirVixIsVexed No, the only story here is that David Davidson is full of crap. Avery was top 5 in the world that year, and the courses played for Worlds also really favored his style, which is throwing far both backhand and forehand. The world title was no accident.
It's gross how good he is. I play with a lot of ex or current ultimate guys and it transfers pretty quickly
@@bbwrenn Right.. dudes a dumbass.. you don't. " accidentally " win worlds. Dudes a tool
You know how long he has been throwing frisbees right? Check out the video Epic frisbee trick shots by devinsupertramp ruclips.net/video/_7xixwHPiUg/видео.html
@David Davidson L M A O you wish. No offense to Brodie, but Avery would destroy him still in this day.
Dropped from bogeys to pars in a round after watching this video and got my first birdie, much needed & appreciated.
Best putting video ever.... your a natural athlete with body awareness. This gives you a huge advantage on teaching and playing. Match that with a great camera presence and your on your way to be the best disc golfer instructor ever. For real. Passion trumps experience all day. I’ve never seen a video on putting this good and I’ve watched a ton.
Makes me a little more confident that I've taken a similar approach to practicing putts. Thanks Brodie!
I wish I had more then 2 of my preferred putter... gonna have to get some more and start practicing like this
The best investment for your game
I wish I had more than one lol
I carry 4 putters in my bag
Lots of places to purchase online now.
I only have 2 putters too😛 Should I do this practice with my mid and 2 drivers as well? 😛 Or is it bad to let the body get used to putting with driver?
Making myself finish with the comeback putt has been a game changer. It’s much easier to putt confidently when you are comfortable knowing you can make the comeback 👍
Kelsey is killing the cinematography! Great video Smith family👊🏼
Brodie: *makes 94/100 putts from 25 feet*
Me: "Hm okay imma try that"
Also me: *can't make a putt from 15 feet*
😭
To be fair (as someone who VERY casually plays the game) - it took me about 4 years of casually playing whenever my way more skilled friends (nobody's pro, more like intermediate/advanced am) would invite me out to get to a point where I can consistently make 15 foot putts on flat ground - that 4 year period literally started four years ago. The only difference in my experience between then and now is that 4 years ago, I was playing maybe a course *maybe* once every 4 months, and in the past 8 months the one friend in my "bubble" that I've seen consistently actually owns a practice basket (and a shitload of putters) , so we'd just chill with a few beers and throw at the basket.
Similarly, my overall game has improved because he keeps dragging me to courses wherever we are (we end up traveling to a few of the same spots outside of where we actually live) and making me play way more often...I went from playing once every 5 or 6 months to playing 6 times in the past few weeks, and the increased play frequency honestly made more of a difference in my game than any amount of thinking about it did.
It really is about repetition and understanding how it *feels* to throw a disc correctly for yourself - it took me years, but recently I had kind of a breakthrough and have had that itch to go and keep honing certain shots so they work.
best bunch of putting info in 17 min. follow through and what it means, practice drills, muscle memory, etc.
Been playing for years just and have lately been in a frustrating putting slump. Watched this video while I was practicing and it immediately made a major difference, brodie you're the man
This is undoubtedly the BEST video on putting that I've ever seen. Good job sir.
Almost any content is welcome Brodie. I am working on my putting and your advice is very helpful and timely. Tristan Tanner has a new challenge for you and Drew Gibson is throwing putters 500+ feet. Thanks man.
Thank you so much for sharing! This was so helpful as someone wanting to get more serious about disc golf.
This last drill is very similar to what the NBA great Jerry West did when he was young. He would pick 6 or so spots around the basket and start with shooting 10 times from the first spot, then move to the second spot. If he missed any of his 10 shots on any of the subsequent spots he would start over going back to spot one and work it until he hit all 10 shots from each spot (this from reading about him on the back of a Wheaties box that featured him from the early 60’s).
5:05 camera man setting Brodie up for success with this cinematography
I started a few weeks ago and love it. This helps me tremendously. I just got a starter set. I really need at least 4-8 more putters. That walking back and forth is for the freaking birds. So, I threw and where it landed, and putt from there to cut down on extra walking. Sucks living at an apartment but a course is around the corner from my job. Thanks Brodie! Love your videos so much..you are a great teacher and student. I absolutely love when you say Keep slinging those disks-its the best!!!!!
Since you started disc golf you've matured not only as a disc golfer but in the way your vids feel. It's been interesting watching your growth over the last 6 months or so. Keep it up and I'm sure you'll do well. Good luck Brodie Smith.
Full disclosure, i'm an "Amateur" at best but have been playing for 10+ years and tried multiple stances/grips, discs with a rim/no rim, stiff vs soft plastic etc .... but after reviewing the video and trying out the grip and repetition alone, I've achieved greater consistency with both my makes and misses regardless of the putter I used .... Thank You for the great video and I look forward to future content!
His technique is so different than others I have studied. Those I've watched line up their shot, pull back slowly then release in the same spot that they lined up their disc originally. Brodie starts out with the disc up around his eyes before pulling back. It works for him, and shows that it is all about a technique that is good for you.
Man, your work ethic is crazy... you practice just as hard as the top guys and it will continue to show... Thanks for this video, best one yet!
This video really helped me! Love your channel. I've vastly improved in several days.
Didn't learn anything new. But anyone just starting to play or is struggling with their putting will learn soooo much great video well articulated. Reps are so useful it doesn't matter how many go in just get the reps
Been doing this for about 2+ months now and am glad by picking A link in the upper middle I wasn't crazy in being too specific.
Dude your a machine! I actually love watching your videos and seeing someone a similar age to me fully dedicate themselves to disc golf (or anything!) and really challenge themselves. You also know what it is to actually practice and train, not just play, they are two VERY different things. Keep your videos coming and best of luck with your career!
I appreciate you couching your recommendations with the disclaimer that you haven't been playing long - very humble! But honestly don't worry too much about it, like, your views are valid as well.
Love how you talk everyone through the purpose behind each type of practice. Time, focus, reps, and technique all have their place. I would like to her WHY Paul had you change your grip, as your old grip looks like my current one, but I don't make changes without understanding the reason behind it. Thanks Brodie, great to see you crushin it at Goat Hill this weekend!
Brodie you are only in the beginning of your disc golf career and you are being so competitive and yet transparent with what you have learned. You are truly not joking about when it comes to practise and your tips feel both so old school yet fresh at the same time.
Heading out to my back yard right away... 😎
Get after it!
Darn it! Just sprained my ankle after two hours of miserable putting... 😠😂
Hey, Brodie for poor folk like me, with no basket. I use a 5 gal bucket that I hang from a wire fence think it helps me with control of angel of the putter to make it fit good for learning aim as well. I hang it with bottom to the fence so the front is horizontal. Thumbs up for your work ethic.
You and paul got me playing. Throwing my shoulder out but I'm hooked. I need to golf with someone that can show me some pointers. Thanks for good content.
Shoulder pain. And hip pain. And right knee ligament pain. And left side rib cage pain.... And pain in the wallet .... Gotta love this sport..
I was wrong. Brodie Smith is a great teacher.
Brodie, I´ve seen all your videos disc golf related videos. This one, for me, is by far the best. Excellent video, loads of great info on putting. Great work, keep it up.
You really can tell Brodie is putting in the work! Keep it up Brodie keep slinging them disc!!!!
I’m stoked that you have joined the disc golf world.
Great Video! I'd also do practice putting outside- the outside air/wind is closer to "real" and the neighbors watching helps replicate round pressure!
Your work ethic tho. I love it. You got the dream life and dont take it for granted
Great tips & different drills to keep putting practice competitive & enjoyable. I've been following these drills for the past 2 weeks and have drastically improved my putting inside of 30 feet. Keep the great content coming!
Good video! I have probably watched hundreds of putting videos in the past 10 years and this video still gave me some ideas and practice routines. Keep up the content!
Thanks so much from Down Under Brodie.
Awesome content.....
“Keep Slinging them Discs”
What you said missing up/down instead of missing left/right is spot on. If I miss my first two putts front rim, I know it's an easy correction where when I my first two putts right side it turns into a bad cycle of doubt, compensation, and dwelling on the previous missed putt. The 20ft come backers are no fun either.
One of the best putting vids I've seen...and I've seen a ton. Great job. Always good to find new insights that aren't overcomplicated. Many little nuggets in here to try.
One thing to maybe add in the 100 putt exercise, use 2 spots from the same distance. It can be relatively close, (a foot or 2 between) but enough to where you have to re-set because you're at a 'new' spot. This reduces the temptation to just auto-pilot the throws one after another from the same spot.
00:35 McBeth: Aight I'ma head out.
Accurate
This video helped my putts! Love the new grip and no longer missing left. Hyped to practice tonight after field work. Thank you brodie 🙏
The way you explain things is so good. Keep it up!
Thanks a ton for the video and the knowledge. also would like to S/O the comments section in your videos, it's always full of love, support and encouragement. Super refreshing!
This video improved my perfect putt 360 score from 138 to 154 on my first try!
Solid advice Brodie! Sometimes I will work on a specific distance like 100 putts from 25', but I like to also mix it up and do sets of 100 where no two putts in a row are from the same distance. It is usually this pattern: 20', 25', 30', 25', 20', 25' 30' etc... I feel like adjusting to the distance on each putt can help with the realistic scenario, similar to how doing the full routine for each putt does.
Yes this is great 👍.
Create footing issues in the garage to duplicate uneven lies. That was a challenge at WACO. Keep grinding, lots of folks are rooting for you.
Thank you for posting the video. The aim small miss small is the key. I’ve been wide eyeing the basket for forever. Once I dialed in a spot chaching!!
I just love that you have the same grip at putting like i do. 5 years ago it just felt a thing to do and it felt good. But lot of times i have been told that i should never keep my index finger on the rim. But if it works, why don't do it. 😊 something else might work for someone else
Usefull! Most pros Are developed their Style so automatic that it is usefull to see someone who is just ”learning” the game. You have ro think what you Are doing and why, to get better. Keep upp!
Brodie, you’re awesome.
Brodie! Keep coming up man!
I have to admit, I never got on the "Brodie Bus," so it pained me a little to watch this. However, I had to admit, while I've been playing quite awhile, improving my putting has always been the hardest part, and Brodie clearly improved very quickly. Thanks for posting this, and trying to help others out in the sport. I'll put some of this to the practice test right away.
For so long I was using a power grip while putting. It wasn't until I really watched Jomez and looked at the pros and saw how they fan grip the disc. That completely changed my putting! This is really helpful!
But I will say, your average disc golfer doesn't own multiple of the same putters and that severally limits the practice
I see why you have a lot of followers dude. Very informative video. Thanks
I like to tie a bright colored ribbon in a bow on the link I am aiming for it helps me focus better on the link . Also i Train simular to you and agree on muscle memory a little trick I came up with to concentrate on technique is take some cheap wraparound sunglasses and black them out so you go through the motions and concentrate on form not making it . Then about every 5th disc raise the glasses and putt 1 it's fun then throw a few OFF HAND to show how good you have gotten. Thanks for the awesome Video's. A long time fan TurboTim
Brodie has made so many trick shots, that he does it even when he isn't trying to...
... like sinking that putt off the wall!
Thank you for the grip tip. Moving my index finger placement was the answer. My grip is looser and the release smoother. Went out today with my putting practice basket, and the improvement was immediate!
iam just gettin started in discgolf. was playing ultimate for around 9 years. thnx for the tipps. will now go to my garden and throw some putters :D
Awesome. Have fun!
I actually do the same type of routines and challenges you do. My small target is a piece of painter tape around the center of the pole. Most of courses by me have that, that is why I do that method on my practice basket. Putting is no longer a worry in my game. I also have implemented the scoober into my game. Loving how consistent it is for approach shots. TY for that video.
IMO this is your best video I've seen🤙Thanks BS
Dude... I NEED THIS!!!
Really appreciate the video and the tips. Working in my putting and just bought a basket as well, so perfect timing. I’m enjoying watching your progress.
Smart. Thanks Brodie
So I also have only been playing a few months, and only really "getting in to it" in the past 2-3 months. What I find so interesting is that there are so many videos out there about the "form" and "grip" - nearly all of them suggest different forms and different grips, and then rip off fairly identical shots - either distance, putts, etc. What I'm learning is, "find what works for you, and then practice it until you're as good at it as everyone else is at what THEY do..."
Love the whiteboard idea. Thanks for ther info
this is amazing
I am now actually trying to get good at putting so yeah perfect
i needed this video after scoring a +12 in nine holes lol also who would donate to a gofundme to set brodie and gang up with mics for their videos
Dude.... you are gonna be so freaking good at this sport
I for sure agree with that first tip. Putting pressure on yourself by going through your routine doesn't matter if the muscle memory isn't established first. Once that is established, doing that becomes less helpful than the "pressure drill" as I like to call it.
Another awesome video Brodie! Might be a bit of a niche request, but as someone who has also played ultimate for many years who's recently got addicted to disc golf, could you do a pro tips on what an ultimate player should & shouldn't bring to disc golf?
Cheers!
I like this Brodie I am won of your biggest fan.
Awesome video Brodie.. very informative and great content. Keep up the great work!
Great video, thanks. Wish I had that stack of putters
Nice video man thank you for continuing to give good content to us in this strange time. Its appreciated
This was excellent! Thanks Brodie!!👍🏻
Good advice Brodski!
Yeah this is great! I love honing in on the right muscle memory
I’m a newcomer as well but in my youth I played baseball religiously. When I had the gear at disposal the way you do was great and doable.
If you don’t have the disc quantity and gear at disposal FIND A FRIEND!
Was looking for this video. I’m getting better at driving just need work on putting. Great content
Brodie once this pandemic is over you should get with Discraft and have merchandise made with your catch phrase on it. I think those would definitely sell!! Again thanks for all the great advice!
I say you do a recap on this video. You've gotten better and definitely could do more tips
Thanks B. I've been working on the scoober, and am getting pretty good. Good teaching, man.
I want all those ultimate discs for disc dyeing!
the tip of.. if you miss it should either missing high or low.. shouldnt be a left or right miss... just thinking like that has helped alot.
Great tips and easily understood. Thanks a lot. If you haven't been, I'd be great to see you out on the greens in the beautiful Pacific Northwest
Super informative Instruction method, Brodie...thanks man!
Thank you. I love how honest your disc golf vids seem to be. We are hoping to get good too so its nice to watch your accelerated journey. I hope to see you on the lead card in the final round soon. Keep slinging those dics.
