"Access to mobility" - really insightful to think about it in that way. Great interview!

It’s not because it’s difficult to access financing, it’s because new cars are extremely expensive and are a rip off, how can you justify asking almost R250K for an entry level vivo with almost nothing, with a ridiculous interest rate of 12-15% and I’m not picking on VW this goes to all manufacturers when we know they can charge much less case and point the Chinese.

Fact of the matter. Living expenses have increased to unaffordable levels in the last 10 years. People can’t afford anymore to lose the 100/150k in the first year or two of with a new car. People just don’t have money for new cars. Also why Chinese cars are doing so well. It’s just too expensive.

If your family can function in a Spresso then go for it, but I would strongly suggest especially if you have infants and toddlers to put things like a pram and luggage in the boot before you sign on the dotted line. If you find that cant work then look at something like the Fronx or Tiggo 4 pro which is larger and not that much more expensive.

The cost cutting measures that these established manufacturers implement, do not translate into the actual pricing of the vehicles. The cost to purchase goes up whilst the materials in the actual vehicles go down.
