Henry, absolutely - thanks for that! I had no idea how many people felt the same way as me, I appreciate your comment as well as everyone else's on this video.
@@KeithBladeKeith, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you telling me this. I work at a hospital and I like to go out to my care during my break and security keeps checking on me because my lights were on. This will keep my business to myself. Thanks, again.
Great find. BTW, you can turn off the Daylight Running lights permanently by switching out the existing relay TN156700-1062 (the 5 prong relay) with a different relay TN156700-1072 (a 4 prong relay). The missing 5th prong is what powers the DRL. The relay is in the engine compartment, on the passenger side, under the plastic 'cover'. It is adjacent to the power steering fluid reservoir.
Yes I'm aware it can be done electronically. I dont mind them running while I'm driving and in certain times of day it increases visibility and safety having DRL. Of course those who want to go the extra step can look into the permanent option but mine's a quick way to get them off easily when parked. Thanks for posting your method!
Perfect for watching the fireworks with AC!!! 2009 Lexus Rx 350 So hot/ humid! But wanted to see fireworks in my cool car without disturbing anyone with my lights on. Genius!!!
Omg thank you! I had tried using the e brake to turn it off with no success. Didn't think about turning off engine first. Other methods I've seen online are too complicated but your solution is so simple!
THANKS! We leave our dog 🐕 in the car with the AC on by locking the doors manually. With the daytime running lights on we were afraid they would know it was running more easily and steal the car AND our dog! Still a little worried but DEFINITELY not as much with those lights off!! We have a 2007 RX400H BLESSINGS TO YOU!!
Great thanks you for the video tips. I have this problem for some times now , And like you said it's has to do with the Parking Brake. And it's just went off.
Thank you so much!!! I have a 2006 330 and we have a drive in movie theater and I can’t even figure out how to get them off for the movie. This worked!
Thank you, you wouldn’t believe how many times people ask me to turn off my lights in the company parking lot early in the morning chilling in your car before going to work….
Hi, not sure how but I know the dealer has more access to special settings when they hook their computer up to your car, they can enable and disable certain things we can't access. The service advisors at Lexus will tell you over the phone if this can be done and how much.
Sick, only took you like 20000 words to get to the point but ill take it. Needed this to watch fireworks and my lights were right in this little coupes eyes in front of me.
This looks a little bit newer than a 2007, my 2007 does not have a huge screen by the radio like yours does, so either you've got your years mixed up or something, I have a 2007 RX 350 fully loaded and it does not have that big screen
hi its absolutely a atock 2007 rx350 bought from a lexus dealer. DMV and VIN verified. look up 2007 lexus RX 350 Consumer Reports and youll see the exact same screen inside.
This is for all model and brands.. Haha.. Its been like that for most cars since they required drl on new models. Ebrake on always disables it until release after start.
The problem is it's not always consistent, and many owner's manuals completely omit the info because the manufacturers want you to leave them on. Also some American cars shut them off by pulling the brake with the car running, then you try that in a Honda or Toyota and it doesn't work
In the video description box it mentions this only works while the vehicle is parked. There is no 'trick' I'm aware of for turning them off while driving.
You have to connect your car to your computer and use Toyota Techstream to turn off daytime running lights. You can change all kinds of settings. I found out by accident when I was reprogramming keys.
I hate this car. Turning on the heater on or off requires repeatedly pressing beeping buttons, lights can't turn off, beeps when the doors are open, moving seats means sitting there holding a lever for about 20 seconds. Tuning the radio is the same repeated button pressing procedure.. Doors lock and refuse to allow you to unlock them when driving but then lets you unlock them when you stop as if carjackers target moving cars. Alarm goes off that I never set because I locked the door then decided to go outside. Fucking stupid.
hey, sorry to hear that. Some of the things you describe are fixable or customizable, if you talk to your dealer they may be able to help you adjust some of those features.
@@KeithBlade I've considered reading the manual or researching how to solve some of the issues, but the slow moving motorized (prone to failure) seats is a dealbreaker for me, so I'm looking for a different car.
@@vyoufinder ok I hope you find the right vehicle. I've recently added a newer vehicle and have found many of the newer cars have rock-hard uncomfortable seats. I even talked to an upholstery shop and they said thats how it is on many newer cars because they are using a harder foam now. Just something to consider.
@@KeithBlade I find it is the shape of the seat more than the softness that matters. The Lexus seats are nice and firm enough. The only problem with them is the fact that it takes about a minute every time I want to move them out of the way for loading or unloading. Life is too short to wait for machines. It should be the other way around.
That works. But as soon as you start driving the daylight running lights come back on. That's just for if the car is standing still and you're not moving anywhere.
That is correct, I did mention that in the description box. As someone else noted, there is likely a way through Toyota to turn them off for good but it requires Tech Stream and reprogramming the system
I don't think you need to use the parking brake. For my 2001 lexus es300 you just have to turn the lights off and turn the car off. When you turn the car back on, the daytime lights wont get stuck on unless you turn the lights on again. So start it with lights off and dont touch the light switch.
I don’t comment so I put the effort to enable it so I could thank you. You’re a genius. Works on 2009 rx. Been bothering me for years

Thanks for useful tip, How to roll back to Daytime Running Lights always on ?
Should be as simple as releasing the parking brake.

That's terrific. Before making this video and seeing all the comments I had no idea how many other people struggled with this longterm as well
Is this a permanent thing? Or do I always have to do this every time I start the car? 😢 this video is amazing thank you!
So how to turn the day running light on for An American car inported to clCanada
Hi, I'm not sure I understand your question can you re-phrase it please
The light came right back on as soon as I took the emergency brake off. Did that not happen when you did this?
Yes that's correct, this only works while the vehicle is parked and the e-brake is on. This is mentioned in the video description box.
Thank you!!!
Thanks a lot worked on my Lexus ls430

Do you happen to know how to enable the DRL again?
Release the parking brake.

You could jus add a direct switch to the lights since they are already in place all you'd need would be a wiring kit with the switch
